Jane   (04.07.10)
Obama will rename a wing of the White House in Ayyash's behalf. A logical part of his outreach.
2. Yahya Ayyash , just another CHE
Ken ,   Switzerland   (04.07.10)
3. Why be shocked...?
Paul ,   USA   (04.08.10)
A few weeks ago, the PA dedicted a public square to the mass murdering terrorist Dalal Mughgrabi. But will the UN, EU, US State Department, etc, say or do anything about this ? I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. What a bunch of despicable hypocrites !
4. ok the news article is valid but did we need a photo 2?!
(04.08.10)
did anyone at Y-net stop to think how this might hurt seriously hurt the feelings of people who lost loved ones and/or were injured by this terrorist? and then to compound the injury Y-net just had to put the terrorist's photo above that of the Israeli PM? Don't get me wrong I am not a fan of this particular PM but a little respect from Y-net at least for the office of the PM wouldn't have hurt any! Really! Really! Really! what is wrong with you people overthere at Y-net!?
5. Empathy is not easy
Sagi   (04.08.10)
We have streets named after Menahem Begin, Yithak Shamir and I could name quite a few others. I not only have nothing against these folk, I openly admit that in my estimation they are heroes and well deserving of being remembered by future generations by way of street names and postage stamps. They were terrorists whether we like it or not.
6. Well
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.08.10)
I suppose there is nothing stopping Israel from naming all kinds of places "Six Day War" .... A little incremental reinforcement is just what the Palestinians need .... And the world thinks that Palestinians make swell negotiating partners and neighbors. They name buildings and streets after scum of the earth, and we're supposed to take them seriously when they say all they really want is to live in peace. Yeah. Right. Kick their sorry asses to Jordan, where they can name whatever they want after whomever they want.
7. Obama will attend the dedication !!!! End
bmos ,   chashmonaim, israel   (04.08.10)
8. many israeli leaders were well-known terrorists!
palestinian ,   las veas, nevada   (04.08.10)
lets not forget menachem begin and ariel sharon as examples. israel has far more blood on its hands compared to the palestinian people. there are many israeli generals wanted for war crimes as well. YNET needs to be more honest in their reporting.
9. #5 - The Israeli leaders did not target innocents...
William ,   Israel   (04.08.10)
as a modus operendi. The "Palestinian" terrorists, especially Ayahs, did. Infact, they chose innocent civilians over soldiers - a clear war crime. In addition, each of these Israeli leaders you mentioned also reached their hand out in diplomacy and lead peace efforts. Ayash did no such thing. Had Arafat actually made peace in 2000 instead of being a chicken and hiding behind terror because he wasn't brave enough - he'd have streets all over the place named of him.
10. I think this dedication to a terrorist
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.08.10)
does not provoke trust in my mind that a Palestinian state adjoining Israel on the Westbank will ever be a partner in peace. The problem is that I am a moderate in so far as I accept that Palestinians are a people (collective) and that they belong on this land (not Jordan) just as much as we (Jews) do. So if this act twists my opinion towards non-recognition, what will it do to other Israelis who also accept the rights of the Palestinian collective as I do? I don't rationalize our security enforcement by saying such blindly incorrect statements such as "Palestine is Jordan" or "Palestinians do not belong" as many other Jews do. But I claim that we cannot afford to allow a Palestinian state next to ours with all the concommitant freedoms which such an act would allow unless our (Israeli Jews) safety and security is ensured. By this dedication to a man who had every advantage as an engineering student and utilized his education to commit a series of acts of murderous terrorism while masquerading as a Jew or as a woman until he was assassinated tells me what the Palestinian administration truly admires. They haven't been very subtle about it, either. It tends to make me understand the hardbitten approach of some of our posters and politicians.
11. Sarah, we should call one of our street to commerate
Eyal ,   USA   (04.08.10)
Goldstein, the man who went on a killing spree and killed 29 Palestinians in Hevron or we should name one of our street Cast Least Street. Let's see how they feel. I think we need to deal with the Palestinians head to head. It always seems like they can get away with everything, but when it comes to the Jews, well that's a different story...
12. #11 Eyal
Sean ,   Montreal   (04.08.10)
Why would you need to? Isn't there already an airport DBG named after the terrorist mastermind of the American Cafe in Cairo? Why is it that you sign USA but refer to, "our streets". Hedging your bets??
13. #11, Eyal...
Paul ,   USA   (04.08.10)
You raise an excellent point. What do you think that the reaction would be around the world, if the Israelis applied the same standards as the palestinians do ? Outrage, would be my guess.
14. Whine Whine Whine
James ,   Canada   (04.08.10)
Maybe when Israel finally admits that the "Jewish underground" that are so celebrated and adored by the Israeli public were nothing but cold-blooded TERRORISTS who murdered many innocents...can they begin to lecture others about celebrating their national heroes. Until then, stop whining.
15. ARABS
J.F   (04.08.10)
You Israelis amaze me How can you be shocked with the drivel these SCUM are saying or doing . They have no honor and only know how to detroy and kill
16. #6 - Sarah the racist demagogue in full flight
Dismayer ,   Australia   (04.08.10)
'Kick their sorry asses to Jordan' With your Islamophobia on proud display, and your constant calls for the ethnic cleansing of not only the minority count of nasties, but also the millions of women, children and elderly - you are a poster-girl for all that is forgotten by some in the ultra-jingoistic judeo-nazi crowd. Thank God you are the minority. Thank God the evil you call for will never eventuate. You are the extremist, Sarah. A street is a street is a street is a street. Whether it's named after a terrorist, or a hero. If you think that justifies your newfound zeal for the brutal dispossesion of an entire nation of people, God save you Sarah. Your words are much more revolting than any street named after a murderer, Sarah. Are you not Jewish? Does not your faith teach you to be a light upon others? Or are you so swept up in your own ultra-nationalist myopia that it's no longer about being the best you can be, but instead about hating and wishing as much evil as you can wish. Why do you not wish for peace, Sarah? Why do you call for crimes of such magnitude? You are the extremist, Sarah. Not the street. Why don't you ethnic cleanse yourself out of the USA and live in Israel, Sarah, if you care so much?
17. #9 - Israel doesn't target innocents (except Palestinians)
Dismayer ,   Australia   (04.08.10)
But of course in the New Israel where jingoism resonates in full chorus, in the echo chamber where you are right and the rest of the world is wrong, the Palestinians aren't human, aren't innocent and aren't counted. Don't target innocents? Ask Goldstone. Ask Gaza. How about the 1.4 million Gazans who ARE NOT terrorists. But of course, in the echo chamber, where only what is permitted to be true is true, where only the Israeli viewpoint is fact, where every Israeli is a victim and free of sin, all of Gaza is populated by terrorists. Even the old and the frail and the babies and the women and the infirm. How can they be innocent, when your entire worldview is formed in the echo chamber which tells you the Palestinians are not humans, the Arabs want to eat you alive, the whole world is out to get you. We can only hope that reality bites hard and it bites fast. May Israel be saved by people of substance and bravery - not by the fearmonger and the afraid.
18. Why does Mr. Barack (Barakeh, in Arabic) Hussein Obama is...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.08.10)
silent, despite the humiliation of Mr. Beiden by the Palestinian Authority, having promised him that no sites will be named after mass murderers of civilians, yet naming a square in their capital city of Ramallah as well as the street on which the new offices of their government will be located...?? Some would say the answer to this question is obvious...!!
19. Robert Haymond
Sean ,   Montreal   (04.08.10)
Aside from the fact that the article includes a denial, please ask yourself honestly if they are alone in glorifying their soldiers. Sadly, I think you are right. Too much water has gone under this bridge and the level of hatred on both sides is alarming. Realistically it is doubtful that Israel could ever live in peace under a two state solution and the demographics of a one state solution are not favourable to the Jews of Israel. Sooner or later these open air prisons must come to an end. Apart from the end of timers the rest of the west is beginning to look upon Israel with the same disdain it does toward Arab states in the region.
20. #5
Mr. Obvious   (04.08.10)
But the founders of modern israel tried not to harm civilians if they could help it whereas these bands of murderers specifically target civilians not for the dream of building a country but for the dream of spilling jewish blood.
21. To: Eyal at No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.08.10)
But that would make us no better than them. I'm perfectly content to remind them of our victories, not our shame. I would name every street, plaza or square in Israel after an event that totally humiliated the Palestinian Arabs. If they want to play that game; I'll play, too. There is enough honorable things that we have achieved that eat at the Palestinians so that we do not need to honor a criminally insane psychopath. That's what the Palestinians do and we are so much better than they are. They are about the foolish fantasies. We are the real deal.
22. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.08.10)
Cut the crap. Palestinians target innocent civilians -- children being a particular preference (remember Ma'alot?) -- and people who cannot fight back. You are terrorist murderers. The Jews to whom you refer were freedom fighters. Please do not confuse the two. Do you remember the outpouring of joy among West Bank Arabs and Gazans on September 11, 2001? I do. Most Americans remember, too. That's why we really do not think much of Palestinians, and why you will never have a state. The world should not be in the business of rewarding criminals, and the Palestinians are criminal terrorists. Nothing more.
23. Anyone think Clinton will berate Abbas over this?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.08.10)
No, there won't be any 43 minute calls from Clinton to Abbas or Fayad over the matter. She's still upset over the recitation of "Next Year in Jerusalem" at so many Israeli seders. Did someone say "incitement"?
24. Sean or should I say Mahmood?
Eyal ,   USA   (04.08.10)
You are probably mistaken DBG to Arafat? David Ben Gurion was a great leader and did a lot of GREAT things, as well as bad things, which you don't even know the half of them. But just like many other great leaders, he was a great leader, not like your leader Arafat? A terrorist like Arafat will bash a head of a baby and not think twice. In fact all you Muslims would do the same with the hate you have for Jews. DBG is a different case, he didn't plot to the killings of many innocent civilians, just military personal? With regards to why I sign my name in the US and talk about my birth country, in which I live a few months of the year and will always be my home, not yours though. Your lack of moral makes me puke. By the way, I am also a Canadian and very proud, but I left because of people like you and of course the Liberal Government we used to have. Your sad case of stupidity is laughable.
25. #8: Israeli generals are "wanted" only
Vardina   (04.08.10)
Because lunatic fanatic Muslim terrorist have placed false charges against them, abusing a stupid british law. As you well know, that law is widely being contested. Yet, I do not expect a fanatic Muslim like you to think logically.
26. Netanyahu the hypocrite
Ben Alofs ,   BANGOR, Gwynedd   (04.08.10)
In July 2006 as leader of the Likud he took part in the 60th anniversary commemoration of the Irgun bomb attack on the King David Hotel in Jerusalem in 1946, which killed 91 people and injured 46. Most of them were civilians, including 17 Jews. They even put up a commemorative plaque in the King David hotel in 2006. The Irgun was led by Menahem Begin, who after his terrorist career went into politics and led the party, which eventually became the Likud. Begin eventually became prime minister. Zionist terrorists in the Stern Gang and the Irgun were among the first in the world to use car bombs in crowded market places in Palestine.
27. Abbas the moderate.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (04.08.10)
Abbas is not a moderate, as the Israeli and Western world believes, and his actions confirms this evidence. He approved the official “Fatah” poster, which shows all of Israel as “Palestine” and includes a rifle and an oversized picture of Yasser Arafat. Abbas is also a “Holocaust denier,” who has wrote his PhD thesis and a book on the topic. He glorifies suicide bombers and recently, praised Hamas. “It is astonishing that the Israeli and American media ignore all this … believing that if you give him a state, maybe things will be okay, maybe he’ll revert to being totally decent. The Israeli government tries the peaceful route because of pressure from Europe and America, but fails to appreciate that Congress would support them if they refused to negotiate with the Palestinians. As to the “Palestinian” demography : http://xrl.us/bewfbt
28. # 10
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (04.08.10)
I agree with all that you wrote here.
29. PA's decision on a street name.
Spencer ,   Israel   (04.08.10)
Why be surprised. This shows exactly how much the PA is doing to promote peace and and stop incitement! To hell with the Palestinian Authority. Thayey want only one thing.....the desrtruction of the State of Israel. Well, they are in for a surprise. The Jewish State is here to stay despite the PA and Barak HUSSEIN Obama and all the other two faced arab leaders.
30. Just to set the record straight, Ben (Alofs),
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.08.10)
whether you're in your medical clinic in the UK or the one in Gaza, the King David explosion was meant by Israeli fighters to kill British personnel who were obstructing and kept on obstructing the birth of our nation. In fact, the explosions did not go off as planned and many innocent victims, including Jews, were killed. If you wish to check this out yourself, I would refer you to the appropriate chapter of Howard Sachar's massive volume on the history of Israel from the beginnings of Zionism. I always think an MD (like yourself) would normally respect facts. As to our other pre-state fighters, they would be considered guerillas as there was no official state to attach them to until the founding of the State of Israel. Any number were former soldiers from WWII, incidentally, who once fought under the banner of the USA, France and yes, even the UK. The difference between our fighters and your beloved Hamas members was that ours did not target civilians and, in the few cases they did, i.e., the Swedish mediator, were severely reprimanded by their commanders. Mainly, they targetted the British (not the Arabs) who, after the Balfour Declaration, did everything they could to obstruct the establishment of our nation. Again, Ben, I would refer you to Sachar's book or, if his isn't available, Martin Gilbert's (yes, the famous English historian) history of the struggle. I always enjoy the arrogance of self-styled experts because they assume their qualifications in one profession (in your case, medicine) is transferrable to another area (in this case, political science and history). And while you're at it, having read so many of your posts and several of your articles, you might try looking at things with fresh eyes just like one would expect you to when regarding a baffling medical case the diagnosis of which keeps eluding you.
