1. These sound too good to be true
The Dude   (04.18.10)
That is the way to talk and understand this conflict. The fact is that Hizb'allah is indeed a jointly shared division of the Syrian and Lebanese Army. Also one of the major failures of the second Lebanon war was not cutting off the supply routes to Hizb'allah that go via and basically only through Syria. Make it clear to Assad, his kingdom is in danger if he keeps up this crap.
2. No. Damascus will be bombed back to the Stone Age. In the
Rivkah   (04.18.10)
Stone Age, that is true. Isaiah 17:1 says, "The burden (judgment or punishment) of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap." But Israel will become lean after that and the glory of Jacob, thin, the following verses in that chapter reveal. There will be terrible consequences for Syria and Israel, but it will be worse for Syria. A better way for Israel to be protected is to ban sodomy and harlotry and thieves from Jerusalem since Isaiah the Prophet said those are the three reasons the Lord will not protect Jerusalem from an attack: flaunting sodomy, women with wanton eyes, and cheating the poor.
3. That is why Syria needs Iran and strengthen ties with
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (04.18.10)
Iran I believe Syria should be ready for a land operation and march into directly Israel with troops when treatened by Israel

6. Stone Age
DaBeast ,   Belgium   (04.18.10)
Stone age ..stone age..please stop with this high school bully rethoric nonsense already, anyone with an ounce of brain knows its just hot air being blown up their ***,for your information, during the july war on Lebanon, the IDF flew their maximum sorties, bombed the maximum amount possible, used every possible time frame to fly and strike..in other words, its not logistically or physically possible to do MORE than they did in 2006..and what did that achieve? last time i checked rockets were stiil flying into israel till the last hour in greater numbers than the first day in fact..so stop fooling youselves and pumping up people's phsych for nothing.
7. The fate of Syria
Ari ,   USA   (04.18.10)
Isaiah 17:1: The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. The cities of Aroer are forsaken; they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus; and the remnant of Aram shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. The end of Syria's Damascus and Jordan's Ammon...
8. Syria is Israel's enemy
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (04.18.10)
Syria is still at war with Israel after 60 years and will be at war with Israel till they are forced to surrender.
9. Stone age - for sure - publish army tactics? don't think so!
Proud Israeli ,   Israel   (04.18.10)
10. To President Assad: You better believe it!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.18.10)
I do NOT support Lieberman but he is right. It is time that our Prime Minister stopped talking crap and told the world to get off our back and pull Israel out of the useless UN! Mr. Netanyahu, we need a leader not an appeaser of the extreme right and Ultra-Orthodox! Israel has NEVER threatened to "wipe any country off the face of the Earth" but with President Obama, with the help the British, Ausrtralian and other Governments, kissing the backsides of those who are trying to destroy us Israel has to look after herself. If we don't then we will all land up in Auschwitz 2 and the USA and the World will look away! Whether Israel has nukes is not relevant but Iran is well on the way to getting them. King Abdullah of Jordan also knows very well that if Iran fires missiles at Israel some will fall on the Palestinians and probably on Jordan. As for Obama, well might as well call him Chamberlain!
11. Syria destined for Stone Age
DT ,   TA Israel   (04.18.10)
The Stone age is were Syria belongs along with Hezbollah and the sooner the better.
12. israel cannot
handala ,   jerusalem, palestine   (04.18.10)
israel cannot attack syria and send it back to stone age, if israel dares and attacks syria israel will face a huge reaction attack, israel will loose its up hand in the middle east and israel will return to the stone age and thats a fact, attacking a 22 million nation with powerfull army and powerful weapons is not the same as attacking a 4 million nation in lebanon, israel will soon pay the price of its stupidity and its long tongue (liberman), dont forget that the israeli army lost in lebanon in 2006 and lost in gaza in 2008-2009, and been loosing in the palestinian land since 62 years, syria will suffer distruction but will handle its losses, unlike israel wont be able to handle its losses, attacking syria will open many fronts on israel and especialy fronts that are not expected, remember this" arabs and muslims are not as stupid as you think and are not that weak also".
13. Why not send them back too the monkey
Eric... ,   Israel...   (04.18.10)
age and at the same time take that lunatic from Iran as well ?
14. To 4 You sound brave come and volunteer for the Syrians
The Dude   (04.18.10)
If you are actually Flemish Belgian... and not just a pen name for Muhammed. You can even be like those Cuban volunteers who fought for Syria in 73'... they had a 100% fatality rate, but that shouldn't dissuade you from fighting...
15. Syria
Selim ,   Istanbul   (04.18.10)
Dear Nr.3, Syria can resist max. two days to Israel and then it will be wiped off from the map. Iran as well has a muppet army; remember Iraq when it was wiped off by US in two days as well. So propaganda is one thing and real power is another thing. Israel is the Nr 5-6th military power in the world.
16. Return Syria back to the Stone Age?
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (04.18.10)
This is not a threat to Arabs - they are already living in the Stone Age.
17. Israel cannot to number 12
TAHRIR QUDS ALYAHUDI   (04.18.10)
Israelis are quality not quantity Remember this
18. Isaias 17 Mchael Roodman
Luis ,   Madrid   (04.18.10)
Surely we are near of the time when Isaias17 be fullfillment, Damascus will be "off" in a moment. Michael Roodman expain it. The Allmighty (YAHWEH) bless the Holy Natiom, (with love from Spain). http://www.michaelroodministries.com/index.html
19. Minister Lieberman is our man...
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.18.10)
Men like minister Lieberman are in short supply, otherwise the most imminent of Israels security problems would have already been resolved...
20. Iran, Syria, Hezbollah = The Flintstones.
Joey Rose ,   Portland   (04.18.10)
21. Israel running on an empty tankn of testosterone...
Marco ,   Spain   (04.18.10)
Its no secret to anyone that Iran is the one arming and training Hezbollah. Israel will never ever dare attack Iran because it knows that it will be biting more than it can chew. This threat against Syria is nothing more than a desperate attempt to lift sagging morale. If Israel has really spotted scuds being transferred to Hezbollah, then why did they not attack then? Attacking Syria is not as easy as it seems. Iran alone is more than Israel can handle. Can you imagine the scenatio of Iran, Hezbollah and Syria?
22. For those clamoring about Israel's end be reminded of
The Dude   (04.18.10)
of the 1973 war. Or better stated the Yom Kippur war, in which the combined Armies of Egypt and Syria, with the support of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Morroco, Tunisia, Cuba, Pakistan, the USSR, the Palestinians, and so on all attacked Israel on Yom Kippur when the Jewish states defenses were completely done and was not at all prepared for battle positions. Remember that after much harsh fighting, the end of the war was that Israeli forces were 101 km from Cairo, and 30 km from Damascus. Those lamenting the 2nd Lebanon war, tend to forget that even Nasrallah had stated that had he known that this would have been the response he would not have gone to war. This was a Pyrrhic victory, costing Lebanon and Hizb'allah immensely. Their only saving grace was the incompetence of a corrupt PM (Olmert), nitwit Chief of Staff (Halutz), and a egotistic idiot defense minister (Peretz). And those proclaiming Cast lead as an Israeli defeat are simply delusional. Hamas suffered over 1000 casualties compared to Israel's 13, with most of these being sadly from friendly fire. The fact is that IDF troops strolled through Gaza with impunity and Hamas had to order it's terrorists to remove uniforms because of the extraordinarily high casualty rate. Israel had complete Air and Sea superiority, and on land Israel had near land superiority, with all engagements leading to complete IDF victories. The fact was that before the war dozens of rockets were launched daily. Today a year after, maybe a total of a dozen has been launched in total. To say that all goals were completed, no. But the fact is that in this case Hamas who adopted Hizb'allah tactics and had even had special Iranian and Hizb'allah training were completely crushed and only saved by President Obama demanding that his coronation be free from distractions. Please, Israel learned many lessons after the 2nd Lebanon war, it's sad though that the Arab world refuses to even learn anything after close 10 wars with Israel. In that you will not defeat us, simply and primarily accept that Jews will live here and that we do have a right to be here. We are not afraid to keep these inalienable rights through the use of arms.
23. ADS (ARAB DILUSIONAL SYNDROME)
MILSPEC ,   OHIO USA   (04.18.10)
Tafun and Handala, Unfortunately most of the talkbackers on this site are not insane. But you two, who proclaim Arab victory in all past conflicts with Israel as well as predicting all future Israeli battle front losses take a world view out of a Monty Python movie. A rational "sane" individual admits to the facts on the ground and if needed as in your cases, takes meds to control "fairy tale" like fantasies. Fact is, in an unrestrained military conflict, there will be a lot of dead people and destuction in Syria and Lebannon. Take your Thorazine and lets all hope for a different solution.
24. A war with Syria is a war with Iran
Mathew   (04.18.10)
25. Syria should also be accoutable if Iran attacks
Roland Seener ,   London England   (04.18.10)
26. as long as this pathetic coward Barak is DM
chaim .s ,   brooklyn ny   (04.18.10)
Syria has nothig to worry about,it is all empty rhetoric. it is only the residents of YESHA who have to worry about Barak
27. Stone age surroundings should suit their stone age mentality
Yaniv ,   Israel   (04.18.10)
28. Poor van Harris
Christopher ,   Boston, MASS   (04.18.10)
He still memorializes the "good ole days" when Belgium was but a Nazi province. Now that he is controlled by the Muslims, he must speak the Quran
29. ASSad is too shallow to realize he is playing with fire
JEWISHNESS ,   NYC USA   (04.18.10)
ASSad has proven, that what is going on in the ME, to be so far over his (myopic) head, that he has no real understanding or foresight to see that he (and IRANt) is building a house of cards that is just about to come crashing down on his/their heads. ASSad has buttered his bread on both sides (LEB and IRANt)..., now he is going to choke on it. He will be gone in less than 6 months. Killed by his own troops (with orders from IRANt's red GUARD)
30. Israel's message is a simple one: "Don't mess with us."
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.18.10)
It's the same message Israel was sending during the War of Attrition (1969-71) when Israel confronted, and took out, Arab and Soviet forces on the Suez Canal front. "Leave us be. Mess with us at your peril". Israel's message seemed to change with the debacle of Lebanon in the 1980s and seemed passe after Madrid and Oslo. The new message, as Peres insisted, was "Ve vant peace!" Israel became defensive and apologetic. Its message of weakness only invited abuse and aggression. It became the world's doormat and punching bag. Enough is enough. Israel needs to stand as a sovereign, in defense of its rights and interests, even in the face of pressure from nominal allies. In a neighborhood that only respects strength, Israel must make clear that it will not be messed with.
