I don't think Ahmanijad wants a bomb to reach a power balance. No one is threatening him, so why the bomb? He wants the bomb so he can use it - either by putting pressure on moderate Arab regimes, Israel or the west with his threats (do what I want or else...) , or to use it to fulfill his wet dream - the destruction of Israel. It's not true that there are other lunatic extreme Islamic leaders who are already in possession of a bomb - name one.. One of the US's biggest nightmare for instance that one of the old USSR's bombs will find its way to the hand of an extremist movement. Why? because like with Ahmanijad, no one wants a reality where this kind of weapon is in the hands of an extremist. All the nations that at present have nuclear capabilities are sane nation no matter what their ideology or faith is. By the look of it, Ahmanijad doesn't play the rules of the game that other leaders play. He killed his own people with ruthlessness, and demonstrated no regard to moral values. Can Israel put the safety of its citizens in the hands of a man who openly declares what he would like to see happen with Israel? Regarding investments in Israel, what I meant the threat to Israel's economy in general. Even the Israelis who will stay here either by choice or lack of options - will they be able to trust that Israel will survive? will they buy houses, start and maintain business, put their money into the economy knowing that their investment is in danger? The economy of a country is a major factor in that country's strength. And again, that's just one thing that could go wrong once Iran gets a bomb.

Israel has no intention of striking Iran. They would, of course love for the US to do it for them but thats not going to happen. The fact is tiny Israel is vulnerable to Irans tens of thousands of missles that Israel could not stop. Major targets would be Tel Aviv and Haifa as well as all military bases. Then you have the northern surrogates with all their missles! Hezbollah will stream into a weakened Israel and occupy parts of it requiring Israel to bomb their own citizens to oust the occupiers. I don't think toppling the regime would help at all. The majority of the so called Opposition is, as far as i read, not disagreeing with the regime in this particular case. So it would not help much to bring them into power. Moreover, in the chaotic times of change, a theft of nuclear materials would be far easier, since the decisive positions to keep up law and order would be vacant due to some murderous revolution who swept away those ppl. Neither option is a bed of roses, but a regime-change could just result in unedifying, unnecessary consequences, if ya ask me.

You want to kill thousands of people for that, what you "think" will be in the future? Iran gets the bomb, subjugates the Arabs and becomes an empire equal to the Americans, Europeans and Russians. Iran has no reason to attack Israel and lose its new-found wealth. The lawn (Iran's nuclear program) will just grow back, as Israel does not have the capacity for the kind of sustained campaign against Iranian nuclear sites that is needed to stop the Iranian nuclear program. Meanwhile,Israel will be politically isolated while having suffered devastating missile attacks from Iran, Syria and Hezbollah. The price of oil will shoot up to $300 - $500 per barrel and Israel will be blamed. A lot to lose and far too little to gain.
