31. Pres. iRAN VISITS UN
Jim ,   Scranton, pa   (05.03.10)
The situation that America is in now with this president and his famous speech..we will transform this country, America should voice it's opinion and send the U.N. ti Iran as obama seems to bow to his Muslim and throw America's friends "under the bus"
32. #2 well its about time to kick the UN out . this country clu
rachel ,   usa   (05.03.10)
club for dictators doesn't do anything thing for the world anyway ...
33. Sarah, Did Israelis Invent Nuclear Physics?
Reader ,   from Edmonton   (05.03.10)
The US is supplying nuclear technology to another non-NPT country, namely India, in violation of their NPT obligations. How can NPT signatories be sure Israel is not also a recipient of restricted technology?
34. Tomek - Poles are living in my house in Chelm
JOe Frazier ,   Philly   (05.03.10)
Ypu are full of it. I passed by to see my great grandfather's house in Chelm, and the old lady who answered the door screamed "its my house" and slammed the door. Wonder how long she waited after my great grandparents were murdered before moving in
35. Peter anti-semitism make you stupid
JOe Frazier ,   Philly   (05.03.10)

36. #19 Even so, at least Israel is Flashy with their weapons
BK   (05.03.10)
Israel prefers to keep them underground. i promise you that.
37. Why does Iran want to destroy Israel?
Ron B. ,   Lod   (05.03.10)
- It is an outpost of and possible military base for Iran’s primary enemy, the US, in the Middle East. - Israel is one of the few issues guaranteed to unite all Muslims, and championing its destruction allows Iran to obtain influence even with Sunnis, such as Hamas. - Israel sits in the most strategic spot in the Eastern Mediterranean, an area in which Iran wishes to project its power. Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (05.03.10)
Democratic countires who get the Bomb are not the problem. Nobody cares if they get it because they will not use it. Dictatorships that threaten their neighbors are the problem. iran has a long record of terrorism, Holocaust denial, threatening Israel, and repressing their people.
39. Look how Ron B once again pastes SPAM...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (05.03.10)
...in every thread. Along with Ralph Levy and a host of others, you will find these people with their comments redirecting to dangerous Web sites throughout Israeli news Web sites. But they (news sites including this one) will not let me talk about this, nor point it out. Apparently this kind of SPAM is protected as an Israeli "security" issue. In some really weird masochistic way.
40. Susan, Israel has a near daily record threatening Iran...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (05.03.10)
...therefore, Iran has a very legitimate security need against Israeli imminent threats.

The Polish people should praise RUSSIA
42. HIs Visit
AJ ,   Israel   (05.03.10)
If you Believe that you can make new rules about stopping The President of Iran to speak at the UN ,maybe yoy should move the HeadQuarter to another country. It is frree world and they have the right to speak just like evryone else. You are making thing bigger than they are and maybe one day justice will prevail, but justice should be on everyone not selected like our times.
43. Who is really at fault and where do we start?
Not important ,   World Citizen   (05.03.10)
Reading briefly though the article and comments above its saddening to see so many provocative, loose, fact claiming statements from almost every side, level and religion, that are a reflection of what so many people, organizations and governments seem to believe or want. Words are very powerful (on all levels), powerful enough to start a war but also powerful enough to prevent a war. We should all be wary of what we believe and what we allow ourselves to repeat and be reflections of/promote, down to our own existence. What would you do if you were in the position of the Iranian president? Maybe he’s not completely innocent but the west seems to be making no attempt to help him in any direction but “proven guilty”… just like Iraq was in terms of having weapons of mass destruction. An understanding of cultures and history of cultures is needed to have a full understanding. A quick translation can often be misleading (often intentionally, to get headlines and for self gain of the person, reporter, journal, religion and even government), even if the words are translated as directly as possible, the true meaning, feelings or intentions can be misread. This seems like a big power game for control where every individual is working for him/herself and his/her beliefs, religious or not, instead of working for the good of this planet, which is the intention of the NPT no? And we, citizens of the states of this world are sitting by and letting powers dictate to us, because we are too comfortable in our little worlds to really care, because we want to keep our jobs and are scared to be criticized. This referrers to everyone from the fox reporter to the President of the United States to the Christian to the Islamic to the homeless guy to the everyday average citizen. The mind that works for itself and/or sits by and says ‘its ok, I’m an exception and won’t make a difference anyway’ is the mind that will destroy this planet.
44. clueless MAHMOOD
Josef Blough ,   unknown   (05.03.10)
MAHMOOD, do you actually know why there were so little protesting of Ahmadinejad's prior visit? because Ahmadinejad isn't worthy of the attention he desires. it's called being ignored. Ahmadinejad is a very little man in a big man's world. he is merely a fly spec. a baby rooster pointlessly flapping his tiny wings causing and insignificant and comical breeze. the reason why some countries are allowed nuclear weapons and some are not is the same reason why criminals aren't allowed guns in a free society. unfortunately, the US learned the hard way by the horrors it created by having an itchy trigger finger with Hiroshima and Nagasaki and hasn't done it since. nor has any other nation who also have nuclear weapons. allowing Ahmadinejad (and those like him) to have nuclear weapons would be the same as allowing a defiant teenager to play with a loaded gun.
45. disclaimer
Josef Blough ,   USA   (05.03.10)
and btw, I'm from the USA and damned proud of it. we are not perfect by any means, but we can speak our minds and not fear reprisal ... unlike some countries
46. Susan, List Those Democratic Countries
Reader ,   from Edmonton   (05.03.10)
...which you believe would be entitled to maintain nuclear arsenals. Should the NPT be eliminated? Do we just agree that democracies are okay, and everyone else isn't? Where is this decided? Perhaps Israel will sign the NPT when all American signatures have been removed from her weapons.
47. SARAH B, FORGOT SOMETHING?
Frank-el ,   Detroit USA   (05.03.10)
In your characteristically arrogant post claiming that the Jews practically invented the atom, you forgot to mention that Jews also stole atomic secrets from the US and provided the information to the Soviet Union at the gravest of times. We lived under a very real "existential threat" at that time, unlike current folks peeing their pants about Iran. Yes, the lovely Rosenbergs were a proud harbinger of future waves of Israeli atomic and military spies and thieves who were more than pleased to put the US at grave risk to serve Israel and America's enemies. I don't want Iran to have the bomb, but I don't want Israel to have it either. Don't forget it was Israel that started the ME nuclear arms race. Also, why didn't you answer the question posed by the poster regarding US technology (bought or stolen) in Israeli neclear weapons and delivery systems?

Stupid comment Reader from Edmonton as democratic countries are run by the people for the people, most of Europe but little of south America and,Africa, most of Asia except for those former Russian republics that are Muslim ,Tajikstan,Kazaxhstan,Azerbaijan,Dagestan and run by Muslim dictators and only one country in the Middle East ,Israel ,the rest Muslim theocracies/dictatorships Iran,Iraq,Egypt,Turkey ,Dubai,Saudi Arabia,Qatar, etc.so yes democratic countries are permitted to have nuclear power as the democratic system itself ensures the safe guarding thereof?

53. Well Prophet (and you probably saw this coming)...
Reader ,   from Edmonton   (05.04.10)
then you agree with Susan. All of these democratic countries can safely renounce their NPT obligations and start nuclear weapons arsenals, just like Israel. Oh wait, didn't the Soviet Union and China have nuclear arsenals and managed to refrain from using them? And didn't that democratic ideal the USA actually use them and, just the other day, threaten to use them again? So the USA developed a nuclear bomb. Then the Soviet Union needed one for parity. Britain and France for the democracies. Then China needed to draw even. Then India. Well everyone has enemies. Then Pakistan. Now North Korea. Meanwhile Israel and South Africa, one to sustain the regime outside its declared borders, and one to maintain the regime inside its borders. Well maybe these things aren't about preserving Democracy after all. Maybe they're just not a good fit anywhere.

They had the good sense to give them up, reconcile with the people they were killing and subjugating, and learn how to live in peace. Of course, they didn't have to return to their previous borders. They were already there.
