1. Israel awaiting Gaza becoming part of Palestine again
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (05.06.10)
Abbas can talk all he wants about keeping the peace in the West Bank - everyone knows that he has Israel backing him up. But what can he do to insure that the West Bank will not turn into another Gaza? What can he do about the 2/3rds of the Palestinian people he is not representing in these talks? Who is waiting and waiting to start the talks and putting up new expectations, preconditions, or excuses even before starting to talk? It is not Israel.
2. Methinks it is he who wishes to scupper ........
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (05.06.10)
....the talks before they begin. Security is a prime issue. Is he helping to compound it by turning a blind eye to weapons smuggling in his 'jurisdiction'?
3. # 1
Palestinian   (05.06.10)
If Israel wants peace, it will withdraw to the 1967 border. Only then will be peace, Israelis are the master of deception ..to steal land, maintain the status quo and more of the same
4. Avoiding negotiations!!!
Spencer ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
Israel has never avoided negotiations and has always shown that it is more interested in peace than t towards the only Nation she can rely on in the Middle East, ISRAEL!he Palestinians or other Arab nations, BUT, Israel realises that her security is of prime importance. Abbas has openly admitted that the terrorists continue to smuggle arms into the territories. America's test will be to see if she can be a real friend
5. to #1 wrong the hamas member that
ghostq   (05.06.10)
IDF killed 2 weeks ago lived in the WB. off course the palis "soldiers" helpt him, it became full shoot down.
6. #3 before 1967 war we were in greater danger
Golan ,   modiin   (05.06.10)
after 1967 we were in less danger. But we are masochists wanting peace at any price. And because we feared Iran and Hamas we gave power to the near dead PLO... only to get terror. What a deal! I wish I sold Rabin ocean front property in Arizona (with Al Gore.) He would have bought it and Peres would help push the deal.
7. lack of violance means peace
ghostq   (05.06.10)
if abas thinks he can ignore the violance from the palis side than his definition is distorted. duh, see no so hard to understand basic definition of peace but Idoubt if they sign non violence agreement even when they sign it they have no intention to fill their end of the deal.
8. Security=Peace=Security
David ,   Jerusalem   (05.06.10)
That's what there is Peace and Security. IF both sides could agree to Peace and Security all the rest is details.
9. Abu Mazen is the only loser
Salma ,   Palestine   (05.06.10)
Palestinians are not losers cause we will not give up and because most Palestinians are not yet born....We don't have miracles, but we have hope and a lot of us I am confident in the future as in the past will work for our own rights.
10. Israel is in the territories because of security reasons, it
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.06.10)
was attacked in 1967 as I recall, by the Arabs who hoped to annihilate the Jewish state. Israel has been attacked by waves of terror since, also initiated by Arabs in the territories. It is only reasonable to think that before all else, Israel must ensure that her security and the safety of her citizens are ensured. But the Arabs don't accept that; in fact they refuse to this day to accept Israel's right to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people. And in addition, they refuse to accept a peace treaty as the "end of the conflict". I wonder, why...??
11. UN Security Council Resolution 242, on the basis of which
Avigdor Ezrahi ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
all discussions take place calls first and foremost for Israel's armed forces to withdraw its troops to "secure: boundaries. An since this is the case, shouldn't the sides decide what "secure" means in a practical way before boundaries are drawn?
12. #9 Salma, Palestine
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (05.06.10)
Do you also have some ideas how to feed the "most Palestinians that are not yet born"? I mean, instead of relying on international welfare?
13. to #9 just in case you haven't noticed
ghostq   (05.06.10)
your initiatives of violance make Israel retaliate and that is how you got to this situation(cycle of violance), the harder you use violance the less you get. as for rights, y you never demand them from Abu Mazen after all he runs to where the donation money goes and he is the one who responsible to provide you with working places, you r not part of Israel you allready got your own leadership, Israel owe you nothing, but your leaders owe you more, they just exploit your hatred to Israel in order to get away from taking the donation money to their own pokets. mmm something tells me you rather hate zionist than invastigate your own leaders.
14. America needs to put a screw on Israel
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (05.06.10)
Since our government is incapable and too immature to deal with the palestinian issue (and talking is the ONLY way forward), it is down to our best friend to force to do the right thing. It is for our own good. Enough excuses, enough procrastination, enough prevarication. Let's talk to determine the terms for a final, two-state solution and get this sorry saga to an end!
15. best thing: annexation by jordan
eporue ,   europe   (05.06.10)
why does nobody ever consider this ? it would have so many advantages for the palestinians. they would get rid of the settlers, the jordan police together with the pal police would be able to handle any terrorist stuff, they could be part of jordans economical and financial environment... its difficult to get on the feet from what there is, and as its a volatile place. the people are not extremely ready for democracy, probably. things take time. why not go to jordan, with an option to become a sovereign state, in a couple of years ? just a thought, but why does nobody even consider this ?
16. "...will work for our own rights." The concept of "rights"
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.06.10)
and "legitimate rights" in Arabic when used in the context of the Arab Israeli context, let us not be mistaken, is the "right" or "legitimate rights" to wipe Israel off the face of earth because from an Arab perspective Israel has no right to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people on ANY parcel of land in the region. This was the state of mind of the Muslim-Arabs in the early 1920s and it has not ceased to date. The big losers of promoting this concept of course have been the Muslim-Arab themselves who have had to live in a state of conflict and war for many decades; conflict and wars that they brought upon themselves. But of course, this is 7th century thinking which is difficult to change.....
17. Abbas is the one hiding behind Hillary's skirt
Brod ,   USA   (05.06.10)
Abbas is hoping Obama will do his dirty work for him. Unfortunately, true negotiation can only be achieved face to face and not hiding behind a third party and manipulating it to do their dirty work. If Abbas thinks he can manipulate Obama and Hillary like dogs, then he is in for a rude awakening. If it turns out that Obama has been mind-controlled and turned into a dog by Abbas, the American people will tell Congress to impeach Obama. And if Obama and Hillary have sold their soul to Islamist-Jihadism, Israel can tell the idiots to go to Hell and stop talking with them.
18. I LOVE YNET
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.06.10)
If a Palestinean said then we can surely believe it. If a religious Jew said it - then it is either a lie or rascist. Good job Ynet.
19. Dualsim again, when will we ever learn?
Bob ,   Mechburg USA   (05.06.10)
How dare Israel demand that rockets not be fired at them and the arrest/elimination of those responsible while "peace" talks "continue." Bizarro World, indeed!
20. AND FATAH IS RIGHT IN THERE LIKE ALWAYS???
stude ham   (05.06.10)
unable to deal with hamas... some negotiators these fatah blabber mouths...
21. Palestinian @ 3, the longer you wait the less you get.
leo ,   usa   (05.06.10)
Soon you will be demanding 2010 borders instead of 1967 borders. Fine with me.
22. at least ynet is here to tell us the "palestinian" truth
shmujew ,   unholyland   (05.06.10)
what would we do without this "truth?"
23. The Land of Israel is Jewish.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (05.06.10)
Arabs should accept that just as Ire-Land is the Land of the Irish and Eng-Land the Land of the English and Fin-Land the Land of the Finns, the name Eretz Yisrael means the Land of the Israelis. The identity of the land is the same as the identity of the nation residing in it; therefore, the Nation of Israel, the Jews, cannot be an occupier of the Land of Israel. The Crusaders named the land “Kingdom of Jerusalem.” The Arab occupation did not have a name for the land; it was referred to merely as “southern Syria.” For 1,300 years, the land had no identity in the absence of the Biblical Jewish nation that identified itself with it. No one claimed ownership but our nation. This is the entire story. The Arabs demand that Israeli governments transfer the land free and clear of Jews. As long as there are Jews in Judea, that place cannot not be called by its false name – “Palestine.” The only thing that stops the cadre of traitors from transferring our land to the enemy, already at our gates, is their inability to uproot the settlements. Those communities halt the wheels of destruction as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi9g8
24. Michael Steiner #14
Brod ,   USA   (05.06.10)
If you are a Jew you sound more like a Judas. Telling external entities to squeeze Israel is the modus operandi of AntiSemites, Judases and Islamist-Jihadists.
25. to number 3 the Palestinian
Daniel ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
If is so bad for you move to another part of the world and leave us alone already. You have no legal claims to anywhere from Dan to Eilat. Got it?
26. #3 Status-quo = Way to go !
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.06.10)
27. Abbas was and is a Terrorist
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (05.06.10)
All this negotiation is dead before day one. The only solution is to move the Terrorist Fatah and Hamas to Jordan and Egypt. Then only there will be Peace.
28. Abbas, the terrorist, talks about peace?
Jay3 ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
How people forget about this animals involvement in the Olympic Munich Massacre! How he can be considered a moderate by the Leftist media is absurd!
29. Just cancel the whole sick rotten charade!
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
Israel should not "stall" the so-called peace talks. Just cancel the whole sick rotten charade. Nobody has ever come up with a single way it could possibly benefit Israel. Have we not suffered enough from lunatic retreats? We still suffer from our lunatic retreats from South Lebanon and Gaza. Now we contemplate a much larger lunatic retreat! Pure madness.
30. #10 Jehuda. We are in Judea/Samaria because it is ours.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
#10 Jehuda, it is true that Judea and Samaria are vital for Israel's security. Anyone who looks at a map can see that. However, the land is ours. That is the main reason we are here.
