31. chomsky says Israel acting like 'totalitarian state'
birzeit ,   ramallah   (05.18.10)
chomsky who needs him? we've got tiny tibby and gone wrong oron
32. Norm Chomsky
Alan Cahn ,   Lincolnwood USA   (05.18.10)
The Finkelstein,Chomsky,Mersheimer, and Walt speakers bureau enjoy the fees that they get by bashing Israel with inuendo boardering on revisionist hatred. Those "duped" Chomsky and his lot are probably willing haters of Jews and Israel because the majority know Israel to be the light unto all nations vis a vis the TRUTH!.
33. Chomsky -the "totalitarian" man
DT ,   TA Israel   (05.18.10)
Thus spake the "intellect" who thought Pol Pot was a good man
34. when is an opinion seen as "unwanted criticism" ?
eporue ,   europe   (05.18.10)
when you know that your way, and therefore your argumentation, are too weak to stand any criticism... because you cant defend it... because your arguments will be proven wrong - and you know it in advance...
35. Chomsky on current Israel goverment
Anad Keathley ,   Eugene, U.S.A.   (05.18.10)
It does not matter if you agree with Chomsky or not. Freedom to speak to whom you wish is not supposed to be just those we want to hear. Indeed, sometimes we most need to hear from those we disagree with. We all have blind spots and thank goodness for that.
36. Government or people
Anand Keathley ,   Eugene, U.S.A.   (05.18.10)
There was a book called, "Bush on the Couch," written by a psychoanalyst, who concluded that George W. Bush was psychotic. I agree. His government was horrible. That does not mean I hate the people of the United States nor wish them harm. In the U.S. there are many people who can not separate these two ideas. They mostly support Sarah Palin and her Tea Party. Not a group I would want to be compared to.
37. The Prime Minister didn't know ! !
ivan   (05.18.10)
Every country on earth bans people they consider " unhealthy ". Every country decides on the meaning of " unhealthiness ". The great US of A, Great Britain, and of course most, if not all muslim fiefdoms indulge in this ' musical chairs ' game. The problem with Israel was that it's PM, Mr Netanyahu, didn't know ; same regarding the on/off ? building in Jerusalem during Biding's visit, and many others. Does he need another 10 to 12 additional ' advisers ' to let him " know " what he should and/or suppose to " know "?. This Govt is getting Top heavy, a la USA, or in other words 'bloated '.
38. got it wrong?
(05.18.10)
Lemme see, if I got that right: Chomsky arrives and wants 2b granted visa rightaway, without notice in advance? He could have asked his travel agency a week in advance, isn't it? Ever tried to get a russian visum as non-Russian? Try that, or try crossing the russian border without permit. The dogs will be sent on ya, probably.
39. Go home Chomsky
Cynthia ,   USA   (05.18.10)
Israel is not your country. You've turned your back on the Jewish people and become just another unoriginal, anti-Israel crackpot.
40. and why is chomsky not speaking out against...
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.18.10)
the totalitarian Hamas regime that openly executes all its enemies (see current Ynet Headlines)? Is he indeed a hypocrite? or an anti-semite? Is he the incarnation of Korach?
41. I hated communism ,was neutral with consevatism and wanted
sami ,   Lebanon   (05.18.10)
to know more about Zionism. After a while i discovered that communism, conservatism, Zionism, Nasism, all are the diseases of some human sick brains that have lot of ugly ideas in common to share. We come to a time when liberalism is guilt and open minded intellectual an inferior leftist.
42. a reason to "hate
tiki ,   belgium   (05.18.10)
Now mr. Chomsky and friends can 'spew their venom. Now Israel gave them a reason to do so. Good.
43. Has Chomsky ever said *Anything Good* ..
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.18.10)
about Israel? He works in the area I live in. I've come to the conclusion that he likes to talk to keep himself in the center of attention he craves. I fail to understand why anyone believes what he says.
44. to #41 you wrong zionism is not political
ghostq   (05.18.10)
issue, zionist can be left wingers, your data taken from arab source which I can assure you is not accurate, the past zionist leaders were actually left wingers and not extreme there r also right winger zionists, it's not political point of view, and you be surprise but Druze r also zionists they even serve the IDF.
45. Nu, so Chomsky says. So what? He also says the US is
Avigdor Ezrahi ,   Israel   (05.18.10)
not a free country and he also hope to see Israel's demise. His perceptions have nothing to do with linguistics in which he is an expert, but rather with his irrational hate toward the Jewish state. A psychologist is the person the check and find out why, not us here. We just have to realize that not every word that Chomsky utter is of value, in fact most of his words have no value at all.
46. PM
Vivian de Mesquita ,   London UK   (05.18.10)
Netanyahu learned about Chomsky in the press. He said the same about construction permits in Jerusalem. Seems he does not know what is happening in his own country. Will hw say the same thing the day Israel bombs Iran?
47. The hight of Chutzpah
Yackov ,   Johannesburg SA   (05.18.10)
Go to Iran or any Arab country and try to criticize them and lets see how long you last! Go away and take Goldfish with you.
48. Chomsky Acting LIke Jerk
emanon ,   USA   (05.18.10)
49. Chomp on this
Shmuel ,   Israel   (05.18.10)
Chomsky is the par excellance self-hating,miserable "jew" there is. His pseudo-intellectual BS is the lowest one can go. Living in a dreamworld of "if he hates the Jews/Israel" enough, the gentiles will love/accept him. GET LOST.
50. lost my comment from last night?
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (05.18.10)
51. #41 - Liberalism IS a disease in its core
William ,   Israel   (05.18.10)
That's because liberalism and the so-called intellectuals call for adherence to their agenda, which gives rights to one person while taking them from another. How is that open-minded? When you take power from the majority and give to the minority, that's called authoritarianism, not "affirmative action". It's a case of racism in its pure form. Therefore, until a movement arrives where ALL are considered equal and no one group desires to over-throw another, the other political movements you mentioned and liberalism are just 2 sides of the same coin. However - Zionism itself is not political. It is a movement based on human rights, a self-determination that ALL people should enjoy. If it wasn't valid, how did the Turks so warmly accept Zionism and allow Jewish immigration back to their ancient homeland? And why did the racism of another group, Arabs, build to such a degree that their only perceived option was genocide?
52. #28 - It is not Israel that needs to grant a "Pal" State
William ,   Israel   (05.18.10)
but the "Palestinians" who must accept that a Jewish State lives next door. Once they accept that simple fact - and end their quest to destroy it - they will have moved on to a place in their minds where their State is both possible and inevitable. The true enablers here are the world players who funnel billions of dollars to a population, stealing away their desire to work, to succeed, and to live with self-responsibility. A very good academic article was published in the Wall Street Journal last year dissecting this very phenomenon.
53. Israel's Moral Cowardice
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (05.18.10)
Is endemic. In Israel. Apparently, their government's main responsibility is to prevent fellow Israelis and Palestinians from hearing any points of view which might contradict their zionist group-think. Truly a nation of the intellectually dishonest. Now let me see, Israel stops Finkelstein at the border and now Chomsky. Why? Both men advocate a two-state solution which is ostensibly the Israeli position. The reason is that both men advocate justice for all, that Israel can and should be criticized when it violates even the the most basic human rights. Zionists and their supporters, on the other hand, believe that Jews can do no wrong. And that any criminal act committed by Israel or Jewish Israelis should be excused because, ostensibly, it is a 'Jewish' state. And anyone who doesn't countenance the idea that Jews deserve immunity for any crimes committed, or for their racist policies, is immediately labeled as an 'enemy of the state'. And the exercise of state power to protect gullible Israelis from such radical ideas is to be applauded.
54. Denial and #7
azbob ,   Carefree, USA   (05.18.10)
If you think every country has the right to keep out whomever it wishes, then you will agree that it is time that the US keeps Israelis out (they continually spy on the US, you know) and even force "duals" to make a choice. By the way, your arrogant comments about Chomsky are low class.
55. Ignorant post
matty ,   toronto   (05.18.10)
what a joke---do you even know what authoritarianism IS? historically found within RIGHT WING states---for example Augusto Pinochets regime, to the Shah of Iran. Go learn some history before spouting nonsense.
56. If you knew anything
matty ,   toronto   (05.18.10)
You would know that Chavez has had problems with specific groups attempting a coup against his regime--hence his paranoia and cling to power. Many of these groups/people are also supported and abetted by the US.
57. Chomsky
Yakov   (05.18.10)
Although the man is a brilliant linguist, let's face it-he is as anti-Israel as they get. I don't like the man's politics at all. Why is he only lecturing in the PA? It smells really bad. Could have this been solved another way? Yes, it could. Perhaps they could have given him the "PA only" entry stamps. You know how strange that situation is for a Jew (nominally) to only be able to go to PA? Still, it would probably have attracted less media. One other thing-that he goes to al-Jazeera is glaring. On seeing that, my humble opinion is leaning towards not ever letting him into Israel nor into Yesha for a long time. For that, he needs to show some sense of belonging and actually supporting his own people. I sadly don't see that happening anytime soon.
58. Mark Regev
Resistor   (05.18.10)
This man can look into the camera and lie. He could tell Israelis that from now on, Netanyahoo says that 1+1=3, and you must obey. I am ashamed that he was born in Australia.
59. "Chomsky is upset"
Yitzchak Goldsmith ,   Florida   (05.18.10)
"Chomsky is upset" Too bad. The only thing Chomsky is upset about is the fact that he has been denied the opportunity to once again demonize and denounce the State of Israel. Good riddance.
60. "Rights" What rights?
Rachmiel ,   Mechburg USA   (05.19.10)
Where's the "Human Rights" workers when an Jew wants to enter an Islamic country? What bullshit!
