61. Wow! Now that is about as mixed up as you can get!
it really ,   does not matter   (06.03.10)
Udi Aloni... please rappel off a helicopter into the middle of the Gaza Strip. Let's see how long you would last! Bet they beat the sh*t out of you before you can convince them you are on a mission of peace! How can you watch your own fellow sailors come down that rope and be attacked before they even touch the deck and say the "peace activists" had a right to attack them like that??!! How sad. What a fool the Left has become. Israel's future shall only be saved by G_d alone, and yet the Left doesn't get it. I am baffled that Y-net would publish such a piece. Is this how Ynet feels about this, too?
62. There were no suicide bombers!
Jenny Bernstein ,   USA   (06.03.10)
No firearms on board? No suicide bombers? Oh. I'm so sorry! They seem to have failed the sniff test!!! What a miserable creep you are! It's ok then, for your buddies to shoot and knife and stun-gun and beat the hell out of the Israelis who had begged them to do things peacefully. Put simply, your 'activist' buddies intended to murder the Israelis! But hey - you're ok! You have the freedom to write your rubbish in Israel without fear. Try living in Gaza for a while and write contrarian thoughts about Hamas Terror Inc. NEWSFLASH: What happened to the commandos on Board ship will look like a Sunday afternoon picnic when your buddies are finished with you. Don't worry though. There will always be a Jew in Israel who'd say kaddish for you, despite yourself!
63. Fool and liar
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.03.10)
The blackness of your loyalty is at the essence of why the Jewish state is so criticized. The world learns the words to us against Israel from fools like you. You said, 'And let no one tell you that a marine commando who is dropped from a helicopter, clad with a mask and weapon, is coming to chat with the sailors over a cup of coffee.' After repeated warnings, Israel had every right to be suspicious, board and inspect this boat. I wonder are you crying for the pain of soldiers and their families like you are crying for the Hamas-supported violence activists?
64. A Loon's philosophy nobody listens
Yardena   (06.03.10)
Forget the B.D.S. campaign. Just get a "load" of Udi Aloni's B.S.! this American should have had his head examined by a psychologue before he ever uttered the first word, maybe the world would have been spared of a BS artist
65. ????? he got time lapses is he ok
ghostq   (06.03.10)

68. A view from the Left
gregg bowman ,   Parksville, Canada   (06.03.10)
Udi Aloni is, with all due respect, sincerely, nothing more than a complete lying bastard. Why do idiots such as this receive any media attention whatsoever? warm regards....Gregg Bowman
69. Be nice to Udi, he may someday retract his current position.
Daniel ,   Los Angeles, USA   (06.03.10)
David Horowitz redeemed himself, and so might Udi.
70. what is this justice?
daniel ,   israel   (06.03.10)
It is sad that Gaza is under siege. Too bad politics is more important then allowing a free flow of goods into the Strip. But we know the context. Why do we have to cower at the power of unarmed protesters who are blinded by the ultimate conclusion of their purported humanitarian missions?
71. Can any rational leftist please comment on this?
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.03.10)
This is a view from the Left? Yikes! I know that this guy is for real, but is this what the left has descended to? Once upon a time I was a supporter of Shinui under Amnon Rubenstein. Then, when the leftist parties merged to form Meretz, I thought it was a great move forward for social democracy and electoral reform in Israel. Wrong. Almost immediately, Meretz turned away from social democracy and became the Oslo Accord party. No other issue was anywhere near the top of its agenda. As the Palestinians became more and more violent, Meretz became more and more insane. Today, the remains of the left are simply an embarrassment for any true believer in social democracy. Israel's Left supports Palestinian tyranny and Islamic radicalism. The Israeli left has turned against its own people and is eating itself alive. And that, dear talkback readers, is a sad state of affairs. Israel really does need a strong left wing to fight for social democracy. Instead, we have a bunch of nitwits who are fighting for the Palestinian extremists.
72. NON VIOLENT STRUGGLE?
SAD BUT TRUE :(   (06.03.10)
ONLY GANDHI WAS THE ONE WHO USED NON- VIOLENT STRUGGLE AND GOT INDEPENDENCE FOR INDIA!!! SEEMS LIKE YOU DONT KNOW WHAT NON-VIOLENT STRUGGLE MEANS
73. nice article.
peter42y ,   lisbon, portugal   (06.03.10)
Nice article. It is not right to continue to blockade Gaza.Would Israelis enjoy to live in a territory under a blockade of Iranians ? No way. But the same people that would fight a blockade against them.., do believe they have the right to blockade other people. This is beyond comprehension. World is getting fed up with this biased israeli logic
74. Great publicity for the Right
miriam ,   Jerusalem   (06.03.10)
The misplaced sympathy and corrupted emotional orientation of this author has done more to repulse the liberal fence-sitter than any Rightist rhetoric can do. People don't suffer in a vacuum, there is accountability for violence borne from hatred and inevitable repercussions for layering the truth with hypocritical, devious political intentions. The bottom line is that Jewish rights supersede feeding the evil alliance the world needs to feed their addictive need for destruction, and you will someday have to make a choice.
75. Amen is right!
Bekah Wolf ,   Jerusalem, Palestine   (06.03.10)
Finally, an article with some sense and logic. People are having to literally change the meaning of words in order to defend Israel's actions. You are the "provocateur" by daring to have commandos drop on your head. You are "attacking" if you defend your ship in international waters from an attacking military. And thank you for bringing this back to the central issue: the rights of Gazans, who were supposedly "Disengaged" from half a decade ago, to have free access to the outside world.
76. so I am blunt sometimes stop banning my posts
ghostq   (06.03.10)
anyway this guy have mish mash of dates, evants goverment and political party, I think he should stick to manga cartons there his type of logic posibly maybe can work. :P
77. To #44
Ross ,   Chicago, USA   (06.03.10)
You, sir are the typical case of brainwashing technique. I used to live in the country specialized in such techniques - Soviet Union. Two points. 1. "I imagine it must not be easy to have these kind of opinions in Israel right now" This shows how little you know about the region. You can express any opinion you want in Israel. Looks at traders in Arab MKs. Can Jews express a different opinion in Iran, Turkey, Russia, even France? 2. "Are they expecting the Palestinians to do nothing and accept this injustice ?" I expect for Palestinians to produce something useful for human kind. What have they produced in the last 70 years besides shahids and best media manipulation on the planet. How about about last 100 years? 400 years? How about the entire Arab world? What have they done with green houses Israel left in Gaza? They take money from donors and steal. What's not stolen is used to produce death. How do you define Justice? In Hamas' terminology, Justice is the distraction of Israel.
78. They all decided to act for freedom without a fight
Marilyn ,   USA   (06.03.10)
If they did, then we wouldn't be having this discussion.
79. non-violence
Marilyn ,   USA   (06.03.10)
I'm pretty sure that no one on board stated that they specifically believe in non-violence. So by default people believe that yes that they believe in violence. Then they proved it also. It's not like people are going to understand some kind of shades of gray.
80. organized accident and ....
nara ,   jerusalem   (06.03.10)
...bef0re8 years i was returned to jerusalem with my siter she put her car as usuah on the other side of uncompleted seperat wall when we returned there were two from the idf they were young they put a green robe infront of our car and prevented us to reach our car and it means that we shall walk about one kilometer to reach it from the other side we had a longe conversation ....now i know it was an organized accident they have the order not to let us pass so they were laughing about any question and said we had order not to let you pass .. then i asked my last question it was ..... this is my car if i reach it by jumping over this robe do you shot me ???they said no no then serously one of them tak up his pelfon and said i would aske my officer .....i said i dhad no time to return to mr. bush to allow me to reach my car then we stepped back to the ordinary mahsoom ..... so now i know that it was an organized accident like the accident over the ship but now they suppose about the last question
81. not surprising
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.03.10)
No one should be surprised by this op-ed. When Udi Aloni's mother was Minister of Education she wanted to stop the field trips to the Death Camps in Poland because she was worried the kids would come back and vote Right-wing.
82. It is no aboutt left or right
JO   (06.03.10)
the video says what happened. That alone is the issue. Fighting for truth requires justice and fairness for all- and objectivity. This ship was clearly political and the videos do not show peace activists(nor are their affiliations). Equality means truth and this political angle of left and right go nowwhere. We all have our biases and it is only when we rise above them are we able to be objective and seek true equality. None of which is possible if we lie or push our cause through lies. I am fed up with the Left and Right. It is about time we had another view- the Middle. Rational, reason, logic, justice and truth required by all. I mean can you judge what is Truth or is there five truths and all fiction. Is Truth unknown and colourblind?
83. Some things he left out
Yehudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.03.10)
It is interesting that Udi Alon leaves out of his article the fact that over 3,000 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel. He also didn't mention Hamas - remember them? Their aim is to destroy the State of Israel!
84. Why didnt the british navy didnt try to kill the Iranians?
Daniel   (06.03.10)
Cause they are soldiers NOT Peace activists. You belong to the war party sir. Go read your George Orwell and hang your head in shame
85. Inshallah, Amen
Salma ,   Palestine   (06.03.10)
Udi Aloni ,Shulamit Aloni, hope the Jewish Aloni Family is great and large in "Israel" :) To whom it may concern :) You there, by the threshold of our door Come in, and sip with us our Arabic coffee you may even feel that you are human, just as we are you there, by the threshold of our door take your rockets away from our mornings. We may then feel secure and almost human Mahmoud Darwish the Coffee only to Audi ;)
86. why
hany ,   egypt   (06.03.10)
why issaeli dont like peace and always want to be in war then u ask why we hate u .. ask ur self first shame on u
87. The article calls out the conscience of Israeli society.
Jade Wang ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.03.10)
Thank you for the writing, and I wish more and more Jews will put their hands to their hearts and rethink of what is right for the future.
88. You might consider 'getting help'
Clap Hammer, Tel Aviv. ,   Israel   (06.03.10)
'Then it is plausible that I too would open fire, thinking, "who the hell sent me to become a murderer against my will?” ' If that's what you think that would be what you are thinking, you have no place in the vibrant Israel that exists today. You should have been thinking - 'These are peace activists? - It is my duty to protect Israel from 'peace activists' like this.
89. Dear Udi
Manny C. ,   Israel   (06.03.10)
Since you have so many "Palestinian" friends, why don't you ask them to help free Gilad Shalit? Or are you too busy bashing anything Israeli and Jewish?
90. Mr Alon wants kaasams over his villa !
Trumpeldor   (06.03.10)
