1. It only goes to show that it was not needed.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.07.10)
Send it to Africa and Haiti where there is a GENUINE need. I am POSITIVE the items will not remain on the docks. Hamas, Turkey and the peace activists would not mind this excellent humanitarian gesture.
2. We should aid Hamas
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.07.10)
By closing the border forever. Egypt can supply them with water, power, food, fuel, medicines, and medical care.
3. Expired medicines
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.07.10)
Humanitarian indeed.
4. It seems like anything doesnt really
Sam ,   Cheers   (06.07.10)
Hamas can do what ever it wants it will change nothing those who hate us, will not criticize this at all. The situation in the middle east is ridiculous USA must step in
5. Again goes to show what the point of the flotilla was
Danny   (06.07.10)
and it wasn't aid
6. #3 Sarah - Expired Medicines
Nate ,   USA   (06.07.10)
You always try to portray yourself as some kind of intellectual and I'm tired of it. You're dead off on your remark; if you don't have a clear understanding on a subject, please don't put your two cents into it. Let me break it down for you: Pharmaceutical companies are very conservative when it comes to the expiration date. The majority of products on the market are still good even several months after the expiration date. The use of this excuse is merely for propaganda purposes. Nothing else.
7. share it
Boris ,   Ashdod   (06.07.10)
guys this is our chance to show the world what really the Hamas is. share it everywhere... facebook, twitter , forums , blogs come on this is our chance!!

Take a guess which story is not being carried by main stream media in the rest of the world.
9. Here's a cute suggestion.
flyingdoc57 ,   Florida, U.S.A.   (06.07.10)
Send the IDF into Gaza for the purpose of bypassing Hamas and distributing all the "aid" items directly to the population via a dozen or so distribution centers throughout Gaza. Have all the major media outlets of the world accompany the IDF in the "incursion", and send live feeds of the aid distribution around the clock. Make it a PR fiasco, the likes of which would make even Osama Bin Laden blush, hammering home the idea that Israel cares more about the "starving, downtrodden" Gazans than does Hamas.
10. Contraband
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.07.10)
The electric carts and the cement and building materials should not be allowed into Gaza. They want the carts for use in the smuggling tunnels and the cement and building materials for use in shoring up the tunnel walls and ceilings and to pour a concrete floor (upon which track for the electric carts can be installed). I wonder what the international reaction will be to Hamas' refusal to allow the cargo into Gaza. (Actually, I don't wonder at all. The world community appears not to care when Hamas' true colors go on display, as they are now. Talk about perfidious hypocrisy.)
11. LOL
Frank ,   Canada   (06.07.10)
It's farcical, Hamas is setting up its own blockade.
12. An international probe is needed on this one
Frank ,   Canada   (06.07.10)

SM ,   Toronto, Canada   (06.07.10)
How do you know that these medicines are only a few months off date? Would you let your child take any expired medication? Or did you mean that it was OK to let children in Gaza be treated with expired medicine. Either way you don't cut it.
14. Just dig tunnels and transfer the goods thru these
Genuine Moshe   (06.07.10)
15. expired medicine is not safe
Netta   (06.07.10)
although you right about the extra caution of the pharmaceutical companies - it doesn't make it safe, and it's embarrassing to receive such an 'aid'
16. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.07.10)
I think while you may speak for American ethical pharmaceutical manufacturers, I don't think you can speak for the European-based ones. I know for a fact that both Sandoz and GlaxoSmithKline, for example, have often been accused of applying expiration dates that are too lengthy. That said -- I'll tell you what. Should you -- G-d forbid -- ever require life-saving ethical pharmaceutical products, you can tell the manufacturers of whatever drugs you need to give you the expired stuff. Idiot.
17. Your excuse is merely for propaganda purposes. Nothing else.
Yossi ,   Israel   (06.07.10)
18. Oh just sell the stuff off....
Dan ,   USA   (06.07.10)
And use the proceeds to aid the families and victims of terror. Then watch Hamas scream again.
19.  Hamas wants expired Ammunitions NOT expired medicine!
Secular Beast   (06.08.10)
20. Hamas refuses aid
Mark ,   Ottawa, Canada   (06.08.10)
Yes last week. Hamas stated that they would not accept the aid until the human rights activists were released, and once they were they wanted Israeli assurance that all the aid would be delivered. Time to deliver Israel.
21. #20 - Mark, Think this through a little more before posting.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.08.10)
It IS rather silly and hilarious that they are making stipulations and conditions to take possession of their own aid. Either they don't need it or they consider it junk. It does look like a junk yard in the photo. The organizers were very wise to send the items rather than CASH. I would have hated to see the cash rejected as the junk is. Hamas' junk today is somebody's treasure tomorrow. Send it to the genuinely poor and suffering.
22. My Opinion from the Big D
Elizabethlynne ,   Dallas, Texas   (06.08.10)
Everyone that I know in Dallas, Texas agrees that this was NEVER about aid, it was about causing an international incident. It was about helping Hamas by insisting that they have access to bigger weapons. None of these activists care about the children in Israel killed by Hamas rockets obviously! The blockade was Israel's passive defense. The international community is trying to take away every means for Israel to survive. These people are ruthless vile criminals masquerading as "concerned activists". We support Israel in Dallas, Texas!
23. send stuff they need
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.08.10)
How many wheel chairs and useless medicine can anyone need? If they spoke to the Gazans, they would know what aid is needed: cigarettes (JPS is running low), good whiskey (Johnny Walker Black), spare parts for Audis and plasma TVs.
24. THANKS FOR THE ARTICLE
Citizen ,   Tel aviv   (06.08.10)
In english!!! thanks, this way I can send the article to all my friends abroad, this article is extremely important for the Israeli international PR
25. Hammas refused aid until Activists released
Freedom of Speech ,   Democracy   (06.08.10)
26. #6 - with all the money for flotillas and smear campaigns..
William ,   Israel   (06.08.10)
they couldn't find medicines just a few more months prior to the expiration date? It's amazing that you justify it as part of the smear campaign against Israel and its supporters....yet, the pharma companies did the same thing in Africa a few years back and there was a major uproar in the aid community about corporate responsibility. It's all about perception Nate, whether the medicine is still good or not.
27. So let's honor Hamas' request for sea delivery
William ,   Israel   (06.08.10)
Dump some of the aid in barrels and toss them into the ocean. Hopefully they'll come ashore in Gaza. Hamas gets what they want.
28. #10 - I think the carts and cement will be held back
William ,   Israel   (06.08.10)
But let the tunnel operators have coriander.
29. Doesn't most Gazan items come by land...or under it?
William ,   Israel   (06.08.10)
Actually, Hamas is upset that these items would enter Gaza without them receiving taxes on it.
30. #11 - Not the first time Hamas created fake issues
William ,   Israel   (06.08.10)
They led the UN to proclaim a humanitarian crisis (despite having warehouses full of food) because Gazans weren't getting a substantial amount of fruits and vegetables. Just days before Hamas banned all Israeli produce in Gaza. Near Karni, there are fuel depots full of petrol yet Hamas blocked anyone from retrieving it and claimed that Israel wasn't sending fuel for Gazans - and yep, UN issues another "humanitarian crisis" announcement. Hamas turned off the only power station in Gaza and despite receiving 70% of their power from Israel, claimed they have no electricity and hospitals were at risk. Like clockwork, the UN issued a "humanitarian crisis" announcement. It's not farcical...it's their strategy with UNWRA as their "credible" spokesperson.
