Great post, and "agree" with all you say. I think that this law proposal is simply moronic .
33. boycott
Dan ,   Rimonim, Israel   (06.10.10)
The proposed bill should go even further. If the PA or any country boycotts Israel, Israel should respond by refusing to sell medicines, technology, computers, etc.

For those of us who actually live in Israel and not LA we are aware of the fact that jews do not want to do manual labor. There are thousands of Charideem who are registered as unemployed and live off state benefits or in othere words my tax money ( BTW which was over 3,000 000 ast year). So save us your lectures from LA and the lobby of the hilton, it is us who gets to eat the rotten fruit not you . Just goes to show how cut off you are from Israel .
35. Posters need to reread this article. It
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.10.10)
refers to economic and academic boycotts of Israeli products (economic) as well as boycotts in the "knowledge" (academic) sphere and penalizes citizens and residents of Israel who advocate such measures and rectifies the loss sustained by those individuals and firms which are boycotted. These penalties would also apply to non-Israelis who advocate such measures by dislallowing them to enter the State of Israel. And these measures would also apply to banks and other international entities, presumably by barring them from doing business within Israel itself. In other words, as one poster so incitefully pointed out, it is a counter-boycott. Yes, this measure limits certain freedoms which, until now, the left has so consistently employed to process its agenda. This measure states that if an individual, group or business firm advocates the boycott of Israeli products, whether in the product or knowledge sector, there will be a price to pay. Why not? In life, there are always choices, some which require sacrifice. If people, groups or firms wish to administer a blow to the state, then they will find that they, too, will pay a price in return. As to the Westbank Palestinian boycott of settlement products, it is legal and, as I commented before, a whole lot better than suicide bombing. Now let it be known that this boycott will come with a price and Palestinians may also be required to sacrifice in return for their principles. In summary, the israeli measure hits at three levels: 1) Internally; 2) The Westbank; and 3) Internationally. It hits two sectors: 1) Academic; and 2) Business/Industrial. The common theme is that for each and every application of a boycott against Israeli goods or "knowledge", a counter-boycott will apply. In this case, the state (Israel) is seen both as protecting itself, its economic and "knowledge" base and its individual citizens. While some may argue that the measures are too stringent, if passed by the Knesset, the new measures (counter-boycott) will be both legal and (hopefully)remedial. I hope this little post clears up what appears to be confusion on the part of many contributors.

37. The Comments of Observer
Dr, Meir kende ,   Rockville, MD. USA   (06.10.10)
Observer comments in #6,11 and 36dictated not by common-sense but by hatred. One week ago he was a 'historian' when he claimed that the Jews are of Khazarian origin, thus, they have no right for Israel because genetically they are not Jews at all. Now he wears the hat of an "economist" with equally nonsense contentions. Keep up your comments Observer, it will show your ignorance and stupidity.

You stole our land, it is not surprising to steal our money ! this is the case of at least 62 years old
39. #8 What???
Hi ,   Palestine   (06.10.10)
This comment is based on a premise of false assumptions. The goods being confiscated have already been bought from companies operating within the illegal Israeli settlements. There is nothing being stolen from these settlement companies and therefore they deserve no compensation. In fact, the goods are being confiscated from Palestinian stores. i believe compensation was given to these Palestinian store owners for the first wave of confiscation, but not any more (and they shouldn't get any compensation, it is now illegal). As for your second comment, you clearly don't understand the difference between the West Bank and Gaza. Look at a map, they are two non contiguous areas. The West Bank (where the PA operates and the boycott is taking place) has shown an increase in economic prosperity over the past several years. Although people are not wealthy, they are not starving (in large numbers). You must be thinking of the Gaza Strip which, due to an illegal Israeli blockade, is suffering an entirely man-made humanitarian crisis. Necessities are in extremely short supply and yes, people are starving. Read more here, http://www.thejerusalemfund.org/ht/display/ContentDetails/i/13264. And please read more generally and keep yourself fully informed. Know the facts before you come to a conclusion.
40. PLEASE!
David ,   Tel Aviv, ISRAEL   (06.10.10)
"Another measure would ban foreign entities or anyone on their behalf from engaging in any actions using Israeli bank accounts, Israeli stocks, or Israeli land." This means that once Israel starts haphazardly applying their paranoia, all kinds of companies, investors, and people around the world will get boycotted BY Israel. Sounds like the best way to isolate the country for our crimes.
41. its people like nicole #27 that create boycotts
Dale ,   melb   (01.23.11)
maybe we should lift the boycotts off zimbabwe too, after all hes just killing his own people and his ecconomy, not his neighbors, would that be wonderful too? idiot
