1. Israelis call for boycott of H&M
Yonatan ,   Jerusalem   (06.13.10)
just go's to show when the world criticize Israel for one thing or another we shout hypocrites. so what are we?
2. Didn't help with the IKEA boycott
Talula ,   Israel   (06.13.10)
Most Israelis, bless them, manage to sort out the political aspects from a good deal. H&M clothes store is a dream come true for most young Israeli women - it's going to take a whole lot more than a country full of unjustified hate for us to keep them out changing rooms!
3. Huh?
Israeli   (06.13.10)
We are to boycott Turkish products but take great offence when the Pixies cancel, when companies cancel contracts with us?
4. after the IPAD incident I reckon
ghostq   (06.13.10)
Turkey is the new china, since they rased the wages in china, sound like glory third world country products can also back fire, not every cheape labor is profitable, considering what happened in the Apple company, can also have rerun in Turkey. in that case go for home made products and ask from your gov to support the lokal industry such as benefits in taxes and money rewards on positive profits.
5. I can't think of a title!
R ,   Israel   (06.13.10)
I respect those kids who initiated the boycott; at least someone has some guts and spirit around here.
6. Trade and idiots
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (06.13.10)
These kids should also boycott several popular models of car sold in Israel that are manufactured in Turkey. Whilst we're on the subject Turkey is Israel's 5th largest source of export and we're Turkey's 27th source of import. We're in a similar position as a source for export for them. So if we go down this boycott route there will be more unemployed Israelis than Turks. Good going Rightist geniuses. Your ignorance of the world triumphs yet again at hurting Israelis.
7. Funny...
(06.13.10)
Azrieli Center was built by Turks, so as Israeli Air Force headquarters, HaKirya(Israeli Defense Ministry) and many luxurios residences in Israel were all built by Turkish companies. What will you do then? Boycott Azrieli Center, Defense Ministry, Air Force headquarters??? It's far too late for Israelis to boycott Turkey, Israel's heart of security and trade were built by Turks.
8. Another reason to boycott H&M
Aviva ,   Jerusalem   (06.13.10)
Their sweatshops in China and India are nightmare hell holes. There have been several horrific fires at H&M sweatshops in which workers were burned to death because the doors were chained shut, just like in the famous "Triangle Shirtwaist" fire of 100 years ago.
9. People who make these garments are not part of the govt
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (06.13.10)
Why should some garment manufacturer be punished for what their government does????
10. to #7 sound like you imported Turks
ghostq   (06.13.10)
and profit from their contracts, other wise it won't bother you so much. and thank you for the information, I didn't know IAF headquarters is in the hakirya. good to know.
11. boycott turkish products YES, but why h&m? no reason to
ralph   (06.13.10)
12. Support companies that do business in Israel
Adam   (06.13.10)
I understand discomfort with Turkey, but H&M is ignoring the calls to boycott Israel and should be supported in that. And as they say, it's a multinational product, not a Turkish product.
13. #11 - of course there's good reason to boycott Sweden!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.13.10)
Have you not heard the rabid, racist, anti-semitic trash coming out of Sweden? Not just the anti-Israel rabble in the streets (Sweden is now something like 25 or 30% Muslim immigrants) but from the government as well. Disgusting, racist, propaganda through and through, but now a product of Sweden. And remember where Sweden was during the war ... saving Jews on one hand while supplying the Nazis with the other hand.
14. Kitan, Golf & Go are also made in Turkey
moi ,   ici   (06.13.10)
15. oh, israel
daniel ,   israel   (06.13.10)
it would be good if israelis could start pinpointing the actual enemies. these crackpot campaigns are ridiculous.
16. Know your facts...
Sara ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (06.14.10)
Comment number 13, you should know what you are talking about before you start badmouthing Sweden. Sweden's TOTAL number of immigrants year 2008 was roughly 6% (not all of them being muslim). Apart from that, your opinions do not reflect the true picture of Swedish society. I am Jewish and grew up in Stockholm and do NOT hold the same opinions and I think I have more experience than you do in this matter.
17. 16 - well said - tack så mycket
Aaron Grodinsky ,   Stockholm, Sverige   (06.14.10)
I agree with you Sara, I am also a Swedish Jew and times are just fine. I think david cohen@ 13 bases his knowledge of the world on headlines and blogs within his imaginary 'peoples front society' i.e. commenting on young peoples clothes shops, his travel experiences are likely to be when he left the state in america he is from to make aliyah and then back to there every year for the 4th of july
18. To Sara #16
Eitan / Rome   (06.15.10)
Sara, Remember when the Israeli tennis team played in Malmo a couple of years back, the stadium was closed to fans because of protests against Israel. Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't Malmo mostly consisted of Muslims ?
19. To #18
Sara ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (06.15.10)
Yes, I do remember what happened in Malmo during the tennis. I am not claiming that there are no problems but I think people tend to exaggerate the problem and blame it all on muslim immigrants. Yes it is a problem to a certain degree but not the way people sometimes portray it. And yes, I will correct you. Malmo does have a large immigrant population but NOT moslty muslim. Not even close! 38% of the population is immigrant but more than half of them are from the European Union or North America. It leaves the number at 17% of the population being from Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. (And do keep in mind that not everyone from these places are Muslim).
20. Attenzione!
N.Rubin ,   Europa   (06.16.10)
Boycott '7 29 and 7 219' Barcode Most of the products have a barcode to identify them. Each barcode contains a lot of information such as the factory and also the country where it is produced. The following system is not necessarly waterproof but will certainly allow you to screen a lot of products coming from Turkey.
