Resistor   (06.13.10)
425 trucks per day to meet the minimum amount needed-not 100!

3. It is time to handle Gaza differently, as follows:
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (06.13.10)
What is emerging is that the blockade, which of course is a legal passive form of defense against the aggression of the Islamist Hamas presently controlling Gaza, will change. The new configuration appears to involve maintaining the Egyptian border pass at Rafah open, under supervision of course, while all other access points into and out of the Gaza Strip will be closed. This will enable Egypt to gradually get a handle over Gaza and eventually taking over the Strip and, under UN Security Council 242, as is, will incorporate the Strip into Egypt. As for the flow of water, electricity and fuel, this too should be changed within a year, gradually lowering the amounts from Israel and increasing the amount of supply from Egypt. It only stands to reason that an Arab state, and the largest of them, will be the patron of this Arab territory and not Israel which has been in conflict with the Hamas controlled territory.
4. It's a matter of conscience
Keren ,   IL-BR   (06.13.10)
I believe-no,I am sure!-that when Israel is right in its positions,it must keep them, whether "other nations"like it or not.Israel must not cede to unfair pressures, because it is this ceding exactly what the cunning enemies intend. They are providing Israel with homeopathic doses of poison. Is that so hard to realize? What I think though is that Israel must be less impulsive and much cold in its reactions, because,as all shows,Israel falls like a baby in the traps of the mocking, ugly, bloody hyenna. This is the major point we must change. That's what I believe.
5. #1 agreed!
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.13.10)
How about 1000 trucks through Egyptian Rafiah and none through the Israeli border crossings? Agreed?

ray ,   zurich   (06.13.10)
Even 1000 trucks per day would not be enough for you . You will always find another excuse to blame Israel .I agree give the Egyept control over who and what goes into Gaza ( if they really want it I will be surprised). Then lets see how much you blame your Arab brothers, for lack of aid to Gaza. Seems strange though you have lots of BULLETS to fire in the air I thought they were expensive, ?? Also no lack of cars been driven around. Petrol crisis ?? Oh and by the way on TV today Arabic TV of course babies with not enough food??whilst their well dressed rather plump mothers happily display them in clinics. Propogana that does not really work wouldnt you say??? Get a life resistor take off. your blinkers and see the truth .
7. More half-arsed moves....

8. NO NO NO!! Maintain the stranglehold...
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (06.13.10)
...until Gilad Shalit is freed and until the 3Aza regime recognizes Israel and renounces violence. Then and ONLY then lift the blockade and allow Egypt to cater to the Strip's needs. If that works out O.K., a few years from now we can start gradually reopening the border for commerce.
9. Bad plan
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.13.10)
The optimum way to deal with Gaza is to hermetically seal Israel's border with Gaza and close down the crossings. No fresh water. No electricity. No supplies of any kind. Gaza has a border with Egypt. Let Egypt pick up the slack. I look after my fellow Jews. I think Arabs should be allowed to look after their brother Arabs. Fat chance. But it will make for amusing politics while Egypt scrambles to get out from under its burden.
10. A minor correction: Eygyptians are not Arabs.
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.13.10)
11. No relief whatsoever should be allowed
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.13.10)
re Gaza until, and if, Gilad Shalit is freed. This should be made a condition of all future considerations and this enactment should be widely publicized to all of the myriad international governments which are involved in negociating.
12. #11 Robert, Shalit affair is unrelated to the illegal siege
Nour ,   One-State   (06.13.10)
If you recall, it was Israel and the Quartet which started imposing the siege and blockade after Hamas (democratically elected) started consolidating its power in Gaza following its military victory over Fatah. Sadly for you, Hamas refuses to recognizes Israel (and rightly so, since Israel refuses to recognize Palestine and continues to obliterate it). Shalit is simply irrelevent to this issue. It is more related to the fate of 11,000 Palestinians kidnapped and sitting in Israeli jails. By the way, our prisoners include women and children, and others, who are not even accused of anything. If this episode of ineffective collective punishment can teach you anything, it's that the Palestinian people will not be blackmailed to change their political opinion and their right to vote for whomever they wish. The flimsy excuse that Hamas is hostile to Israel does not fly: They have not committed one suicide bombing in many years. In contrast to Israel murdering 1,450 Palestinians over the last 2 years, Hamas has killed 0 Israelis. Even the rocket which killed the Thai worker last year was launched by a rebellious Salafist movement which Hamas is trying to contain. The fate of one of your prisoners is no pretext to continue the strangulation of millions of people. Actually, the siege is achieving the exact opposite: it is making the recruitment of resistance soldiers easier and winning you even more ennemies in the region and worldwide. Think about it Robert. Has the illegal an inhumane siege achieved its goals as stated by Israel? It's time to accept reality, the siege and naval blockades, both illegal and condemned by the UN and endless other organizations, are crumbling and there is nothing you can do about it regardless of what bibi is feeding you.
