when generals fares and tamir were dismissed by ashkenazi because of "minor" transgressions, there sure was outrage. if those things are overlooked, corruption is guaranteed to be endemic in the ranks. soldiers in any army will do wrong things, but to ignore or lessen the punishment because of rank or status is inexcusable. and if fares and tamir were forgiven, soldiers like this who steak and/or lie should be forgiven as well. then you have an army full of people who are pushing the limits of what they can get away with.
these punishments are fair and the guilty should pay the price of their transgressions, especially soldiers in the army. israel cannot afford to let the ills of society permeate the ranks.
