1. Ehud Barak, serial bungler.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.21.10)
We need to create a new gov't. ministry in charge of bungling. I nominate Ehud Barak as first Minister of Bungling, he is obviously the candidate with the most experience. I would hazard a guess & say that this policy of banning pasta & other non-security items, theoretically to weaken Hamas & make them unpopular was orchestrated by Barak & Abbas. It had absolutely nothing to do with our security but everything to do with collusion with Fatah. Personally, I see no difference between Fatah & Hamas since both seek our demise. And as for Gaza, our best policy would be to dump the problem on Egypt, only maintaining the naval blockade but otherwise, cutting all ties & sealing the border completely.
2. Unfair
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.21.10)
There is no doubt that Barak is an incompetent failure, but the criticism for the blockade is unfair. The people of Gaza democratically elected Hamas knowing that it called for the extermination of Jews. After failing to release him in Cast Lead, Barak believed the only way to secure Gilad Shalit's release was the blockade. Gaza is far from starving. The Gazans have more food, better education and longer life expectancy than black Americans. The only shortages are of whiskey and luxury auto parts. And most importantly, if Israel cannot act against the racist Hamas, it proves that the Right-wing is correct. Israel cannot surrender territory because Israel will be forbidden from self-defense. Thanks to the failure of the Gaza blockade, it is clear except to the most stupid that surrender of Judea and Samaria means the extermination of Israel.
3. What a surprise he hurt Israel as PM and as Defense Minister
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (06.21.10)
What a surprise, Barak hurt Israel as PM in his half hearted unilateral withdrawal from Southern Lebanon. Why should be surprised he did it again and again as Defense Minister?
4. The probable use of banned products.....
lara ,   Australia   (06.21.10)
Jam: caterpaulting hot jam doughnuts into Israel. Pasta: used as whips and to tie up IDF soldiers. Canned fruit: used to immobilise the IDF by making them sticky Fruit Juice: used to drown IDF soldiers Chocolate: used to tempt the IDF and luer them into changing sides Toilet paper: used as strangulation devices against IDF Camomile: used to make teas which will scauld the IDF Powdered milk: used to blind the IDF Shoes: used as missiles Blankets: used for teasing the IDF when they're cold Baby wipes: used to make nuclear weapons Either those items are dangerous or the Israeli government have a very active imagination.
5. What on earth is he still allowed to go to the States for?
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (06.21.10)
B"H Boo-Hoo, Barak Go Home!
6. #1 Really, your government is working for Abbas and Fatah
Salma ,   Palestine   (06.21.10)
but "Israel's" Gaza policy has strengthened Hamas , and weakened Abbas and Fatah !! seem you understand upside down :)
7. Good for them for speaking out
Israeli   (06.21.10)
I agree with a smart embargo on weapons and what can be used as weapons until an agreement can be negotiated with Hamas. Making average Gazans suffer by not having enough food, medicines, medical equipment, etc. is cruel and non-productive.
8. Not Omert 's Fault
Rube Vogel ,   Jerusalem   (06.21.10)
This is ridiculous. The PRIME minister's job is to lead. If he didn't agree with HIS defense minister he should have overruled him. I suppose Olmert was too busy taking bribes and stealing to be a real prime minister also. Kudos for Mr. Netanyahu for doing the right thing. It could be a great bit of statesmanship if handled correctly (which being Israel, it won't be) Unfortunately, the current timing is disastarous as it will embolden Israel's enemies.
9. #2 - why reference betwn.Gazan and black American
OLADIPO ,   LAGOS , NIGERIA   (06.21.10)
I am of the opinion that #2 is well informed that the people of Gaza are in captivity. Are the black Americans suffering the same captivity ? If #2 is bible friendly , pls. see Ps.137 :1-3; i advice pls be more focused when discussing issues, avoid bitterness and racist remarks.
10. #6 Salma - Why are you wasting your time here?
Seth Greenberg ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.21.10)
Salma, I've been reading your talkbacks for the last few weeks and wondering why you are wasting your time here? Do you think you have a moral obligation to spread lies and hate? Is someone paying you to inject propaganda in this medium? Salma, we're reading your talkbacks. But you don't make any sense. Don't you understand that if you want sympathy Salma of Palestine, how can we give it to you when we know that you have a proper English education and access to the Internet? Why aren't you among the oppressed Arabs with no access to proper education or technology? By posting here, you make it harder for us to believe that there is really a problem among 'your people'. So give it a rest. Relax. Maybe watch the World Cup on your flat screen TV. But don't try to be something that, clearly, you are not.
11. We only need opportunity from Jews
Moshe Mafora ,   South Africa   (06.21.10)
its highy time that we let us as Christians to ensure that Israel remain a Jewsish state., i am willing to send my daudguter whi is seven years old when she become the age of joining the army. I wish I can be called when the is war against Israael to be in. Please invite me to your country.
12. #10 If i'm nothing, why are you talking to me?!
Salma ,   Palestine   (06.21.10)
Do you think that Ynet is an entertainment Magazine to waste my time with it?! I think it is more important than that :p Wrong, dear, if you think that the Palestinians are looking for sympathy, we want our rights, nothing more and nothing less by the way, i'm a fan of Brazil, and Italy
13. Who knows
Yossef ,   Rehovot, Israel   (06.21.10)
who is Salam in reality ? But You know what, I don't care, I like the character, Salma the palestinian, mother of few, spend hours to talk to jews and explain her vision of a free Palestine. Thanks Salma for your participation, we need it. Even if we do not believe what you pretend you are ;-)
14. # 10
Birdi ,   Israel   (06.21.10)
How good can Salma's English education be, if she never makes any sense here in her talkbacks ?
15. Salma, keep it up my dear!
Nour ,   Palestine   (06.21.10)
It seams our Jewish neighbors are not willing to even listen to us, accusing us of seeking their sympathetic ears. My God they cannot be any further away from the truth! You said it in such a simple and straighforward way: WE SEEK OUR GOD GIVEN AND NATIONAL RIGHTS on the lands of our forefathers. If we must repeat this a million times until they finally understand how determined we are, we'll keep repeating! And yes, I can't wait to watch Spain vs. Honduras :)
16. I disagree with you
Yossef ,   Rehovot, Israel   (06.21.10)
Nour, we are listening. But you, are you listening to us ? By the way, we are not just your neighbors Nour, we are your cousins, you like it or not זה מה שיש. It is written in the Torah: Ytzhak and Ishmael bury together Avraham at Hevron. Hevron, Nour, in Judah, not in Palestine. As you know because I assume that you are educated, the Phlishtim lived on the sea coast, in Gaza, Ashkelon etc., not in Judah. We jews live in Judah, this is why it is called Judah. And you arabs used to live in Arabia, and it is why it is called Arabia. And there is no more palestinians, they are all dead or returned to Crete where they was coming from. Now, that said, you are here, and we are here. Don't believe you will throw us into the sea, it is your expectation, and you will be disappointed. Don't have too high expectations so you will be not to much disappointed, this is a rule of life. Well, as I said, you are here and we are here too. The question, the only question, is how can we do to live together. If you, Salma, me or whoever have no answer it will continue a long time you pushing us and we pushing you. Have a nice evening my cousin :-)
17. at #6salma #15nour
shahir ,   bangalore   (06.23.10)
the israelies think anyone putting forth their opinion is at the behest of their govt as they hav often grown up with.... n moreover opinions of a few will not matter to them but its that their own mistakes will be the cause of far greater problems to the israelis as is evident frm the series of bungled up events never anticipated in history...nothing seems to be working for them... shows how God brings forth decline of people through their own doing... best of luck guys..u r waging an impossible battle...
18. PROHIBITED LIST OF FOODS IN GAZA
Loraine ,   California, USA   (06.23.10)
In the U.S., at the outset, these ridiculous prohibition of outlawed foods would be ridiculed on Saturday Night Live skit.
