1. Smoking a little too much local hash, Mr. Berri?
Scott ,   USA   (06.25.10)
The gas is in Israeli waters. Cry me a river.
2. If Lebanon is stupid enough to start a war they will regret
zionist forever   (06.25.10)
Israel is not going to give up ITS gas just because the Lebanese are demanding it. If Hizbollah start a war to try and steal OUR GAS then we will fight them and smash them. No more 2006 style screw ups, the army will use full force, we will let the soldiers tell us what they need and we will not have the politicians trying to micromanage things. If they Lebanese want more of their people in coffins and their country destroyed then go ahead start a war but you wont get your hands on our gas. We will also not let Obama hand our gas fields over to Lebanon in the name of peacemaking.
3. Do you see what can happen
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.25.10)
... when you keep propagating all those maps which do not include Israel? The natural gas field doesn't even APPROACH Lebanese "territorial waters." Eat your heart out. It's our natural gas. Not yours. Keep burning charcoal if you wish to stay warm and eat hot food. YESSSS!
4. Finders Keepers

5. what can you expect from a country
(06.25.10)
that accuses the palestinians of stealing thier own water resources in the west bank
6. I breath ergo I am a criminal
Sagi   (06.25.10)
Why does the world not understand the Arab agenda, not just vis a vis Israel. It is the free democratic world that is on the line, not Israel. It is a war of cultures and religion. Any excuse to cause trouble and strife will be exploited.
7. Sarah why are you so childish in your comments?
Haviva   (06.25.10)
and why do you hate so much?
8. #2
Palestinian   (06.25.10)
Take it easy dude, you think Hezbullah were smoking weeds while your army was recovering from the consequences of 2006 battle!! Hezbullah from the FIRST DAY after the war started assessment of the war and boosting its strength points and repairing its weakness points. 2006 is a "picnic" compared to what will happen, god forbids, if there will be a war. If i were you, i'd think of better shelter....
9. Share it, field under both countries, unless 1923border moved
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (06.25.10)
This gas field could be good for both countries but it will be hard for either to share it. A war over this would cost both sides a lot, better to make a deal and share it. Same problem with Gaza gas field also. Israel has not fully declared its borders but Lebanon border was set in 1923, Israel would like to move border to include all of gas field under Israeli control.
10. If Leb goes to UN,they'll vote that SA Gasfields are in Leba
Alan ,   SA   (06.25.10)
11. To: No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.25.10)
Call me silly, call me stupid, but the 30-odd Palestinians organizations each of which purports to be the true representative of the Palestinian people have at their core two things: (i) an expressed intent to destroy the State of Israel, and (ii) the extermination of the Jewish people. Being Jewish myself, I'd like to thwart them. That's why I hate. Does that work for you? (Do I care what works for you? No, not really.) Being Arab, ya'habibti, you need to examine why YOU hate so much. Don't forget the six wars you started and lost. Don't forget the over sixty years of unrelenting Palestinian terror. As salaam aleikum. Get the hell out of my country. Stop leeching off us. Shoo! Shoo! Scat!
12. To 9 actually their is a border, the blue line
The Dude   (06.25.10)
While their isn't officially recognition of either state, the 'blue line' setup in regard to the UNIFIL stations and basically the 1949 armistice line. So this would in all cases be the de-facto border. The only case where Lebanon in general disagrees with the de-facto border, is Har Dov and technically 8 villages that Nasrallah has suddenly discovered to be Iranian... I mean Lebanese. However, all of these are towards the Syrian-Lebanon-Israel, tri-border area. Meaning they have no place in regard to the territorial waters. As these oil fields are next to Haifa, and that city is at least 40km away from the Lebanese border. So hence these gas fields are well within Israeli territorial waters. The only other premise is that they don't accept any legitimacy of the border because they just don't accept the legitimacy of the state and hence Israel has no territorial waters and therefore Lebanon has the right to claim anything down the coast. The problem with said argument is that it is indeed a two-way street and Israel can make the same claim. And then it just boils down once again to a military conflict... which to be bluntly honest is going to occur regardless of this gas field or not. It's just another factor for causi-bella. But if we take the current borders, the fields are Israeli, the investment was Israeli, and the infrastructure will be Israeli. It's Israeli gas.
13. #8 haha
(06.25.10)
dude, it's not like israel was sitting on it's hands since the second lebanon war... what you see as failure, is a success to others. enjoy the next war with hizbolla, trust me, get some popcorn!
14. #9 Um, no. That's not how borders work.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.25.10)
Revising back history to colonial times in which Lebanon, as a country, did not even *exist*. Lebanon only gained independence during the time that France was occupied by Germany. For a naval border to be final, it must be recognized by both sides. Israel and Lebanon have no such accepted border - or rather, both *do* have such a border, but different ones, all the back from the 1940's. This is unlike the ground border, which is de-facto the armistice line of 1948, currently only legally kept as a border, I might add, out of Israel's kindness - Lebanon *initiated* hostilities over it on so many times, that should Israel ever press the issue, said border would have no official existence whatsoever. But back to the naval border - the current drills are far away from Lebanon's version of the border, so there's as of yet no cause for conflict beyond Lebanon's attempt to further redefine its own territory.
15. "Shoo! Shoo! Scat!"?
Haviva   (06.25.10)
I don't call you silly or stupid but I can only say you must be a young child on their parents computer if you use langauge like that , childish remarks won't thwart anyone maybe when you grow up you will understand until then best let the grown ups do the talking.
16. The Lebanese
Mike Van Harris ,   Antwerp Belgium   (06.25.10)
The Lebanese have the right to defend there land, water and oil from Israeli thiefs.
17. Lebanon
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (06.25.10)
Lebanon doesn't want the gas, what it wants is, Israel's blood, this shows the reason for Arab hatred for Israel, jealousy.
18. Israel will steal it anyway, just like Lebanon's water
(06.25.10)
and Palestinians land and water from the west bank. Now they're stealing gas. law only protects Israel. The world already knows that.
19. Havavia..now, you dont seem too *mature* yourself
Scott   (06.25.10)
Personally, I think Sarah has very valid comments, and its the likes of you , that maybe you should have long, hard look at yourself. I mean..your attempts to chastise are really quite pathetic....and you didnt answer Sarah's question...Why do you hate so much?
20. re 12,14: your right but look at map of gas field
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (06.25.10)
While current drilling in Israel waters this gas field goes all the way to Cyprus waters with Lebanon waters in the middle. No matter who drills the gas is coming from all 3 countries resources so if Lebanon drills they will hit the same gas field which Israel will not allow without agreement like it has with Cyprus.
21. Laughing gas!!!
sm ,   uk   (06.25.10)
Yeah whatever! The gas belongs to Lebanon and Israel's Ofek 9 satellite was, developed at the 'Ali Baba Institute for Space Research', in the Bekka Valley, till a mossad agent ran off with the blueprint. Instead of feeding these childish fantasies do something for the palestinians suffering in Lebanese refugee camps who live in squalor and face institutionalized discrimination & oppression, before you hypocritically promote 'aid convoys' for gaza's Palestinians, while maintaining a complete silence on the closure of the egyptian - gazan border. If you'd all accepted the 1947 UN partition plan they would have had their own state. Lebanese gas? More like laughing gas!

23. The Revelation of Jesus Christ:
rickardh ,   B'more, USA   (06.25.10)
In that book, there is a sea of glass before the throne of G_d. That is for the bad ones. The question is: "Are we the good guys?", as the Kid said in the movie "The Road." "KEEP THE FIRE ALIVE, INSIDE."
24. Scott what are you talking about?
Haviva   (06.25.10)
Sarah did not ask a question , show me a question mark in her second post and where on earth have I expressed hate in my words? There is nothing hateful is telling some kid to behave and grow up. As for little miss spiteful she needs to understand that grown ups don't talk like she does, they do not use phrases they heard on Sabrina the teenage witch to try and sound important , she sound like a schoolgirl who doesn't have to many friend and who visits websites to feel all grown up because her schoolfriends think she are still a kid. She said “get the hell out of my country” , well kids don’t have countries they have treehouses or in her case a wendyhouse.

26. Reply to Mike Van Harris - Antwerp
Ronald ,   NY   (06.25.10)
Are you SERIOUS!!!!! Now Israel stole Lebanon land????? What are all you ignorant people talking about. Israel is finding Gas and Oil in Israel. BUT, I am positive Lebanon could find it also. Lebanon needs to stop talking nonsense and get into those waters, Oh Yea the Lebanese Public does not have smart enough people to find Oil & Gas Deposits they want those smart Israelis to find it for them. For all you people babbling about stealing land and all that stuff, This is not Avatar, There are no countries in that corridor that are pumping Gas & Oil and Israel is declaring war.

Are you always this incoherent and illiterate, or did you put it on just to impress your rejectionist friends? If your name is "Chris," I daresay you are not Jewish. So what on this earth qualifies you to make a judgment about what may or may not embarrass Jews? Rather nervy of you, actually. Perhaps you can study grammar, usage, spelling, agreement and syntax while chowing down on humble pie. Bon appetit!

Do you really believe that Hezbullah were the only people that were making assessments and ajustments after the 2006 conflict? I am sure that a better shelter was just one of things that Israelis were thinking about, what about you?
