is in so. leb. Good thing they have french "soldiers" to add to my security. Why didn't they fire in the air to stop the villagers? If that would not help, then into their legs? Better to kill someone than to give up your weapons.
7. Worse than useless.

This incident is one of many, which demonstrate why no UN, Nato, American or any other foreign peacekeepers or monitors can be trusted to safeguard any of Israel's border areas, uphold UN resolutions or play any role in supervising the entry of goods into Gaza. Hezbollah supporters must fall about laughing whenever they see a patrol of these 'toy soldiers'. Only the IDF can be trusted to take the necessary measures to defend Israel's security against these troglodytes. This will certainly remain the case as long as the arab world is dominated by primitive dictatorships, radical islamists, widespread human rights abuses, media censorship and a never ending antipathy to Israel.

I thought rocks and sticks were nothing to fear. ,You hear that from the French all the time when IDF forces catch it from the territories. Maybe the French will think again - or at least toughen up their troops.

Go to the UN Security Council, if France isn't already on it, and make a protest that your soldiers were attacked by hostile arab terrorists throwing eggs, sticks and maybe some donkey s*t too. And next time Israel is attacked by terrorists with GUNS...fermé la bouche!

You're obviously ignorant, uneducated and completely unaware of the differences between Israel, which has a vibrant democracy in spite of the threats it faces and Arab/muslim nations, where human rights abuses, including the widespread use of torture against anyone considered a 'threat' to the state, (a long list here including religious minorities) a lack of basic rights, media censorship and a state controlled judiciary are widespread. The scale of any 'alleged' human rights abuses carried out in Israel, including in Judea and Samaria, is vastly different to what goes on in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt and other parts of the Arab/muslim world such as Gaza where freedom of speech is virtually non - existent. Israeli actions are very closely monitored by large numbers of both israeli and foreign organisations/observers based in Israel, who respond criticaly and publicly when they believe the rights of palestinians are being abused. This is certainly not the case in the Arab/muslim world where this type of freedom of expression is virtually unheard of and very much the exception rather than the rule, if it exists at all. Court cases on behalf of palestinian plaintiffs against the Israeli authorities are often supported and initiated by Israeli human rights organisations/sympathisers and court judgements decided against the state. Israel is also held to a much higher standard than it's neighbours. Your implication that the Israeli media is subject to censorship comparable to arab/mulim nations shows your ignorance. Just read the numerous israeli online newspapers. If you still can't see it then you're an moron, though most readers will have reached this conclusion anyway. For your benifit the Israeli media enjoys freedoms of expression Arab/muslim countries can only dream about. Typically, like similiar contributors, you're unable to sustain an argument longer than a couple of sentences, back up your points with any facts, or give any credit where it's due. You just mouth off a few anti Israel slogans and that's your're only contribution to a debate. Duh! Not very impressive are you.

no real point in responding to someone so blinkered in their views but here's a go.. If you claim to be a vibrant democracy... then why are you comparing your actions to countries which cannot and don''t make such a claim ? I agree that, in the arab world, there are many countries with appalling human rights records, no real freedom of expression and so on,,, The difference is that they do not make such lofty claims as you do..and by using them as a "benchmark" it seems that you are deliberately obfuscating the issue.. of course, it is easy to portray yourself as a shining light when you set the bar low.. Given your claims regarding "vibrant democracy", why don't you compare yourself to actual democratic nations and see how you measure up? I doubt this will be posted, but if it does and you respond, try to refrain from the name-calling as it is no substitute for reasoned debate Cheers

Anyone participating in the worlds fastest growing 'spectator sport' 'Israel bashing', especially when commenting on an Israeli forum, should have carried out some research first and backed up their argument with a few facts instead of making knee jerk anti - israel slogans. This would be a good starting point for a 'reasoned debate' Israel can justifiably compare itself to other western democracies. This is not because the 'bar is set low' as you incorrectly state, but because all the elements that comprise a functioning democracy are in place, such as guaranteed freedom of speech, an independent judiciary and free and fair elections. The campaign to deligitimize Israel is underpinned by international anti zionism (a large part of which is driven by anti semitism), a surrender to Arab commercial interests, growing islamic radicalism, and the hatred of 'left wing liberals' who demonise israel while ignoring human rights abuses, many of which take place in arab/muslim countries. The agenda of the anti Israel campaign is based on historical inaccuracies, and a virulent hatred of israel. A few examples of this are: Gaza only has one border crossing! Why no pressure placed on Egypt to open it's border crossing? The demand for the right of return for palestinian refugees and their decendants (yes refugee status is inhertited) to Israel, a crude attempt to alter the demographic balance and undermine the case for a Jewish state while insisting on a 'palestinian state in the 'occupied territories' free of jews. The bogus historical portrayal of the palestinians as the original inhabitants of 'palestine' when it is historically beyond dispute that they came as settlers from neighbouring arab states, in very recent times while no mention is made of the Jewish prescence in palestine over the centuries. The creation of the 'palestinian cause' from the 1950's onwards as a calculated political tool of pan arabism to destroy Israel. This is fully documented and is confirmed by key arab players including Yaser Arafat and Hafef al Assad of Syria in their own words see : Hadrian's Curse – The Invention Of Palestine/ Middle East. A palestinian homeland already exists in Jordan and neighbouring arab states. Finally delegitimizing Israel is not an innocent activity it's a deliberate attempt to destroy the Jewish state and proponents of this agenda are fully aware of this objective and it's consequences.
