Peaceful protest is more effective just a few problems in the cases of these 2 groups with the idea of peaceful protest. 1) Hamas at least can't destroy Israel peacefully and it's charter commits it to destroying Israel and liberating all Palestine ( Israel ). Commit to non violence they have to accept the best they can hope for is 2 states and that's not full liberation. 2) Both groups see themselves as some kind of liberation armies and can anybody imagine an army that uses peaceful protest to fight it's battles. 3) In 2006 Hizbollah provoked Israel into war by kidnapping solders from inside Israel and Israel wasn't in Lebanon. If Israel isn't occupying Lebanon what's the justification for starting a war? Peaceful protest wouldn't have achieved that because there would have been nothing to protest to begin with. Whilst it would be nice if all the terror groups were committed to peaceful protest they would feel after a little while they have lost credibility and would have to change their goals.
