The south of course has BGU which does a lot of good scientific work (its Ramon Center helped three Israeli youngsters win an international physics competition recently). It could provide yet more intellectual capital for high-tech startups, as Technion and Weizmann do in their regions.
In the north, there are two interesting developments: First, the new medical school and associated research centers going up in Safed. Second, the Wertheimer backed industrial park in Nazareth.
Considering prices in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are now comparable to Manhattan, other venues for growth need to be considered.
