Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (07.08.10)
Bubi wants to continue settlement expansion, which has as its ONLY effect creating new, negative facts on the ground, by prejudicing territorial contiguity of a Palestinian state and altering demographics. And then he talks about the possibility of peace. He's a liar, purely and simply, who has no intentions of pursuing peace except through a few photo opportunities. His premiership has been an unalloyed fiasco. 1-Gilad is still in captivity, 2-Iran is running rampant, 3-The 7aredim are trashing our country with impunity, 4-The settlers are running riot with impunity, 5-The Arabs, Turks, terrorist-sympathizers and our own smolim are making us look like incompetent fools, 6-Israeli court orders are being ignored left and right with impunity, 7-The peace process is mothballed, and this time it's NOT the Palestinians' fault, 8-We're being pilloried for 3Aza all over the world because our "hasbara" has not bothered telling anyone that Egypt is doing the exact same thing as we, 9-We scored no significant diplomatic success in the international arena and have a foreign minister who can be compared to Jurg Haider. I thought Olmert was a useless clown; this guy is ten times worse. What's even sadder is that there's NO-ONE on the Israeli political scene with a pair of balls to put both the left and the right in their place, and do what is needed.
4. Complete Spin
hk ,   New York, USA   (07.08.10)
I suggest your editors go and listen to a recording of the Netanyahu meeting with the Council on Foreign Relations. The Reuters article is simply bogus, and takes the quote out context of a much longer response, which hinted to no such thing.

'Let's get on with talks' how he will coax the Palestinians into peace negotiations? without construction freeze at least
6. to #3
Omri ,   Israel   (07.09.10)
No significant diplomatic success? Remember some pro Israeli countries are still around: USA (yea still is), Germany, Holland and India (I may be forgetting someone). Keeping then around is still something, making new ones can be a huge achievement that sadly not many leaders are capable of. As for the case with Turkey, it was lost the moment Erdogan came to power and there was nothing Israel could do about it (The Turkish military is still with us). Other then that I agree with you that Netanyahu is being an idiot with not making a freeze, it’s a minor gain for Israel and a huge diplomatic disaster. Finally a diplomatic Palestinian country can rise and the president is being stupid.
7. Bibi is playng smart politics
zionist forever   (07.08.10)
He is not that bothered if construction continues in Judea & Samaria its a small concession as far as he is concerned. Now he is the peacemaker with the midterms & later the presidential elections Obama is going to have to start getting tough with his arab friends and not just making demand after demand from Israel. Bibi did not say building in Jerusalem would start which Abbas says is one of his conditions for holding talks. As long as he doesn't destroy hundreds of arab homes in the process he should be able to do some building in Jerusalem. Obama will have to tell Abbas to lower his list of demands and talk. Bibi can also say he does not intend to start from the final status talks based on deals he did with Olmert whereby Israel gives up Jerusalem. Certainly until January 2011 Bibi has the advantage and if he can hold his coalition together then he can outlast Obama. This is probably the first time since becoming PM Bibi has been trying to outwit Obama and its allowing him to go on the offensive.
8. #7 Pretending to accept Two State Final Solution isn't smart
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.09.10)
#7 Zionist forever. There are two types of Israeli leaders. The first type are the complete fools who, despite all the evidence, actually want to create a hostile new terror state in Israel's heartland. The second type are those who pretend to want the Two State Final Solution but depend on our enemies to prevent it from happening. Bibi is the second type. However, lack of honesty isn't smart. If we pretend to want this monstrous abomination, Israel will ultimately be expected to create it. Truly SMART politics would be to proudly, strongly reject the Two State Final Solution. Our enemies would yell blue murder as the will anyways. However, Israel would gain self respect and our friends and the public would begin to respect Israel again. As they did before the Oslo Catastrophe and the sick policy of appeasement,.

The bulk of the the world will be against us because they are jealous of judaism the original source of some civilization in the world of barbarism although not without the capacity for ruthless brutality in conquest .Certainly we have monsters amongst us egomaniacs callous and even mass murder psychos. SO FAR THERE HAS BEEN A MEASURE OF RESTRAINT but in the international world now the threat of mass catastrophe leaving few survivors looms .
11. #7 I 100% agree. Bibi, by far is a much better politician

Creating an arab state out of Gaza/Judea/Samaria wouid be a 3 state solution. Jordan which is eastern Israel is the second state
15. Peace, peace when there is no peace. This is the year for WAR
Rivkah   (07.09.10)
The signs in the heavens such as Jupiter losing a ring and a solar and lunar eclipse on Av 1, 2010, are indications of WAR for Israel since that is what happened in past wars. Messianic Rabbi Michael Rood believes this is the year of the destruction of Damascus and a world economic collapse. It must also be the year for the destruction of Elam (Western Iran) the Bible prophesied since that comes before the economic collapse from indicators in Daniel chapter 8 where the notable horn (USA) collapses after Iran is subdued. Isaiah 17:1 foresaw the destruction of Damascus long ago. But how can Damascus be destroyed alone? If Ezekiel chapter 32 occurs this fall, too, many will be the nations that are destroyed: Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq (land of the Chaldeans where the military of a young lion nation is destroyed along with its leader), Jordan and all its princes, and many other nations. Yes, that would certainly precipitate an economic collapse. But is World War III about to start, too, which would mean the deaths of two billion people or a third of the world's population as Evangelist Irvin Baxter sees it from his Bible studies? It is all planned for the rich to make money. I have read there is a way to decontaminate soil and structures from radiation and the people who have this technology are waiting in the wings to make some money after there are some cities nuked. Don't the rich have enough? No, they are never satisfied, it seems. Preying on the poor and middle classes so that the wealth of the world is concentrated in a few appeals to the scoundrels who pull the strings behind the scenes of the world stage. Peace? Hah! Not likely. War is coming that will greatly expand Israel's territory and problems in governing (ycch) Muslims.
16. PA state coming but it borders/size is the real question
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (07.09.10)
Netanyahu knows that a PA state is only option now but he will try to make it as small and weak as possible. Netanyahu plan is likely 40% to PA and 40% to settlements(Israel) with Jordan Valley(20%) under joint control, also a small part of E. Jerusalem going to PA. Any original refugees if they are still alive may return but not their children if born after 1948.

18. Mr Steiner #3 - There will never be a real Arab state (read)
Faruq   (07.09.10)
on Jewish, Israeli land. It is a completely impossible situation and unfortunately there is a mass delusion that a peace between Israelis and Arabs could ever be sustained. Judea and Samaria are as Jewish as Moses.
19. Michael #3: I think you've made a number
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (07.09.10)
of crucial points. Why wouldn't Avigdor Lieberman and Yisrael Beiteinu suit you? Lieberman's tough, won't be intimidated, very very smart, sometimes clumsy but extremely committed to Israel and its future. I'd feel best with him at the helm.
20. bumma and bibi say "Lets talk NOW," and the PA has deaf ears
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (07.09.10)
21. Peace baloney. There is deadlock on the core issues.
Sam ,   Canada   (07.09.10)
The real question is what the Palestinians will do to try and break the status quo and how Israel will respond. Will the Palestinians declare a state again or restart violence? Will they succeed at creating boycotts or sanctions on Israel? They will continue trying to get something for nothing. A truce is the best that can be expected from them.
22. Peace will not be possible so long as the Muslim-Arabs...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.09.10)
...refuse to accept Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people. And once they do - if they do - they must also accept that a peace treaty with Israel will be considered by all parties the "end of the conflict". If they can't accept these two simple demands that don't cost them anything, on what basis can peace be constructed...??!!
23. There will be no peace as the leftists have hoped for.
Yehuda ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.09.10)
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told Arab leaders that the PA is ready to wage war on Israel if the rest of the Arab world does, according to the PA daily Al-Hayat al-Jadida as translated by Palestinian Media Watch. The only peace the Arabs are wishing for is that of being 6 foot under.

27. #7 what will convince Obama to "get tough"
Danny   (07.09.10)
with the Arabs? He knows Israel is terrified of Americans not saying nice things about them and that the Arabs know that no matter what they do Obama will try to appease them more.
