1. stop anarchy! Restore Law and order in Israel!
uli ,   kiryat Ono   (07.11.10)
anybody resisting police should be arrested and put into prison and when there is any risk to the life of a police officers he can use his weapon with the full force of the law. ENOGUH with ararchy, ENOGUH with lawlessness, YES to law and order in Israel. Anybody who does not respect police officers and tries to lynch them should ne face heavy consequences!
2. If Israel wants to Prevent these kind of things
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (07.11.10)
They should get the hell out of Golan Heights which they have occupied for 43 years and have illegally settled. The people that live there hate you for the occupation and illegal settlements. They have the right to resist an occupation. The Golan Heights belongs to Syria. The pre-1967 borders are today's legal borders. See the relevent UNSC resolutions.
3. Doug @ 2, please, explain what connection this
leo ,   usa   (07.11.10)
incident to the fact of Golans being occupied? BTW, I resent the term occupied if it was as negative. Syria attacked Israel and lost Golans in the process. Now Golans enjoy its rightful owner.
4. Who are you Doug ?
Yossef   (07.11.10)
to tell us Israeli what to do in Israel ? Did we put our nose in Rochester USA ? Give us a break, go to the beach and enjoy the sea, instead of wasting your time on internet. Get a life !
5. Yeah, right, that will stop the crime
Gilad   (07.11.10)
Those arab countries lost in the war, and now the whine about lost territories. Well, they're trying to annihilate the Jews here from the 19th century and back, and fail.
6. Why are Druse Always Above Law ?
DAVID ,   Jerusalem Israle   (07.12.10)
Time and time again we see rioting by the Druse especially when not allowed to build illegally like they have all over the Carmel Range I believe the first Intafada was a result of the weak response to the rioting of the Druse in Bet Shean as it began less than a week later.
7. #3 - The Connection
Doug ,   Rochester, MI   (07.12.10)
The Druze in the Golan heights were citizens of Syria before 1967. The vast majority of them have chosen to remain citizens of Syria. If Israel would end their occupation, they would not have to confront the Syrian Druze who resent the occupation. If you resent the term occupation, so do I. I think long-term occupation is inhumane. And settlement building is a crime. Regarding who has the right to the Golan Heights, it has been decided by UNSC resolution 242. Read it!
8. Israeli occupiers, get out of occupied land, including Golan
Misha   (07.12.10)
The land is not yours, the people of Golan want you out now, and we support them!!!! You are alone, except your Zionist allies allies in Washington
9. #6, Israeli law is not Druze law, u can't impose it on them!
Moise   (07.12.10)
Druze of Golan are Syrian, so keep your law for yourself and leave them alone. They dont want you there!!!!
10. To Doug -Regarding who has the right to the Golan..
Seth ,   Syosset, NY   (07.12.10)
I've read resolution 242 and you apparently stopped reading after the preamble where it mentions the, "inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war..." This hearkens back to UN charter Art.2 which refers to "no title by conquest." What it does not refer to is a defensive stand against said conquest which is what Israel was faced with during the Six Day War. This insures no future incentive for aggressors because they do not stand to gain territory. The other point you may be misinterpreting is the call for the "Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict." This statement found in paragraph one is of key importance for the fact that the resolution did not state that Israel had to withdraw from "all" territories. The Arabs and Russians wanted this word included, the British and American ambassadors rejected it because they knew that the boundaries as they stood, were not acceptable. This doesn't make clear exactly how much territory is to be returned. One could argue that since the Sinai was returned, this issue could be considered null. Regardless, the 1st paragraph goes on to say, "...every State in the area" has the "right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force." The Golan Heights rise high above the Galilee. This was the staging ground for numerous shellings and attacks by Syria and would hardly be considered secure or defensible. This is why it was left vaguely worded as to how much Israel would abandon, if ever. Ultimately, paragraph 3 refers to a "...peaceful and accepted settlement" wherein the parties themselves will negotiate final status accords. Assad is not the ideal peace partner being that he is aligned with global jihad and terrorism. The Druze, who you so passionately stand up for, were killed on massive levels after they spearheaded the movement toward Syrian independence. That's gratitude! Israeli Druze are generally very loyal to Israel as they commonly serve in the IDF and border police units. The Golani Druze sect, although not as loyal to the state, sporadically serve in these capacities, but keep their Syrian passports so that they may visit relatives in Syria and attend Syrian colleges. They are given the right to vote, free speech, freedom of religion and press as well as the freedom to travel all of Israel. If you think they'd be treated better in Syria or any other Muslim country, then I have a bridge to sell you, Doug.

most druze in golan heights like myself do not want to go back to syria. we enjoy the freedom in israil and better economy and jobs for us and freedom to think and say what we want for ourselves. in ghajar, the druze people do not want to leave israil and go under syrian rule because it is oppressive and syria is very poor. we will never be free as a minority under bashir assad because he is criminal terror leader and we druze are minority and not alawites like him. we will have no equal rights in syria like the suni and palestinians and kurds who have no rights at all and will be always a second class under syria police terror regime. we want to stay in israil with the jews, but the israili government has to give us more better infrastructure. we only complain when there is no better infrastructure, not because we are oppressed and occupied. druze were never feeling like they are occupied by israil. my family men served in the israili military for many years and my cousin is officer in airforce. the druze in israil are very loyal to israil. they are always in military and in airforce and some are the best officers. we live good with the jews in galil and golan. we work together with respect for everyone. druze are not arabs. we have different believes and way of life. we are not like muslims. we are not muslims if you check the real druze people in history. our religion is different than islam. i went to university of haifa and learned in class with many jews in israil. no problem. i served in the airforce with many israilis and no problem. we have all freedom here to do and to think the way we want. we study in class with the israilis and no problem. the problem and occupation is in your imagining. please if you no nothing about us do not talk. mhajid ghajar israil
12. #4 And Who are You, Yossef from unnamed?
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (07.12.10)
You will not even devulge what city and country you are from. I am from the country that unforunately arms and funds Israel. Something I am trying to change. Are you from Syria? If not, why do you have more business than me talking about what should happen in the Syrian Golan Heights? The UNSC has made it clear in Resolution 242 that the Golan Heights is part of Syria, not Israel. Have you read it?
13. Police Plagued By Problems
Evan G   (07.12.10)
This has almost nothing to do with the Druze and almost everything to do with the police in Israel being a force of simpletons with no regard for the way that they are viewed by the public or the way in which they conduct their affairs. It's a disgrace to see them acting this way, especially toward an ethnic minority in Israel which has given back so much to our country.
14. By The Way, to David in Jerusalem #6
Evan G   (07.12.10)
I believe that you're referring to the Charedim in Jerusalem who seem to be above the law - rioting and wreaking havoc usually on Shabbat of all days - with their lack of respect for law and order. The Druze community in Israel serves our country by going into the military and doing national service. They have been nothing but patriots for Israel, and this is no way to treat them.
15. Doug
Yossef   (07.12.10)
Take care of native american OK ?
16. To all you who complain about Israel having the Golan Height
SomeGuy ,   Israel   (07.12.10)
To all you who complain about Israel having the Golan Heights. When a country looses a war its natural that it looses some land, this is even a good thing to do because it makes countries be more careful about going to war for they risk losing land if they decide to go to war. This is nothing Israel invented, almost every war the looser looses some of its lands (ww1,ww2, napoleon times, Bismarck times, etc). Yet only countries like Syria cry when they lose a war and lose some land along with it, other countries don’t complain. That’s because stupid people on the internet think in Syria's case it's different, but there's nothing different here and like any loosing country Israel can take some land after a victory in a war. BTW know in this "occupation" all the people living there had gotten Israel citizenship.
17. Druze, native residents of Golan heights
observer   (07.12.10)
Only 10% of the Druze of the Golan Heights has Israeli citizenship.
18. The cops should have opened fire
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.12.10)
It is time to teach citizens not to riot. All the enemies of Israel should learn that their rioting will have deadly results for them The village of majnoon shams should have the electricity and water turned off and no one should be allowed to enter or leave for the next month.
19. Is this Michael's cesspit
Ilan ,   Ariel   (07.12.10)
No he crawled out of another one.
20. Doug @ 7, I think you got plenty of response to
leo ,   usa   (07.12.10)
each and every point you raised. From myself I can only add this, if any Druze or otherwise who currently is living in Israel, but wants to be Syrian subject must have right and move to Syria without any Israeli government's harassment what so ever. And this rule must apply to any other state besides Syria.
21. hey doug how bout this? DROP DEAD
ari   (07.12.10)
we really dont care what you think or what the United Nazi orginization thinks. The land was RIGHTFULLY our since recorded history. shut up
22. Druze fighting under Syrian flags?
observer   (07.12.10)
23. #18 Good one with "majnoon shams".
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (07.12.10)
24. to #17 you're point?
Sameguy ,   Israel   (07.12.10)
It doesn't matter, they all had the option of changing to an Israeli citizenship. What this means is that it's not a "long term occupation" but rather a part of Israel officially. Like I said last post: A loser in a war looses lands, it's nothing special and it happens in almost every war anywhere in any time. You can say Israel should let the locals that want to, move back to Syria but that's a whole other accusation.
25. no 10
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (07.12.10)
Like the Sunni cowards Saad Hariri and Faoud Siniora ,Walid Jumblatt the Druze warlord cannot interfere in this matter as he is tightly controlled by the Islamofascist Hezbollah .
26. no 8
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (07.12.10)
Hey Misha whatever happened to your Druze warlord Walid Jumblatt ,surely he can help you sheep stuck there in the Golan ,but you might need plenty bakheesh to prise him away from Nasrallah ,who now owns him ,salaam?
27. no 2
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (07.12.10)
Why isn,t Doug the Golan guard at his post as Rochester is far from that lonely outpost he rants and raves over ?
28. no 7
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (07.12.10)
But what happened to UNSC resolution 1701 Doug ,the disarming of Hezbollah ,south of the Litani river and their removal thereof,in other words UNSC resolutions count for zilch if the inept peacekeeping force cannot enforce the resolution ,that,s why the IDF is there ,enforcing the peace ,next rant please?
