1. What was taken by force, must be taken back by force. Peace?
J.R   (07.14.10)
2. A country that dishoners its own covenants
lydia   (07.14.10)
Israel claim rights to Palestine because of a covenant they say they had with God yet dishonors each and every one. Israel self imposed obligations to the member nations and the Palestinians UN181 yet even before the ink is dry Israel is warring with the Arabs (Plan Dalet} to steal more land well outside the borders of the unilaterally declared Jewish state.
3. ''Land for Peace'' should be made illegal.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (07.14.10)
4. Israel should stand tall.
John ,   Accra,Ghana   (07.14.10)
Israel should never withdraw from Golan Heights..Israel fought for it and lost blood on that land...Israel has become a coward nation and fear international pressure. To hell with international community.
5. Israel is unique
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (07.14.10)
Israel is the only country where corrupt politicians (Olmert, Sharon and even Rabin with his "purchase" of opposition MKs) can make far reaching irreversible concessions with no control, no checks and balances and in total opposition to the voters' will. That is why this bill is important. But Netanyahu can stay calm. Like any pro-Israel law, I am certain the High Court will strike down this bill if it ever gets legislated.
6. Referendum Bill
Oskar Prager ,   Petach Tikva   (07.14.10)
To #1 - J.R. Would you apply the same comment to Turkey who stole by force half of Cyprus ? The same to Russia who stole Japanese territory during WWII and still not returned it, or to Britain regarding the Falkland Islands ? If so, why not say so ?
7. this bill is a farce & we will probably never get a referen
zionist forever   (07.14.10)
Its not a referendum bill its a chose the option bill for the government. 1) A referendum 2) A Knesset majority saying give it up 3) A general election If we have a referendum will we have a yes or no question and it will be binding for good or will there be a get out clause so its only temporary. If there is a referendum and the government loses will we get a situation like in Ireland when they held a referendum on an EU constitution where the result was no. The government reworded a few things, called it something else had another referendum and it passed. If the government things they will lose a referendum but win an election then they will forget the referendum bit and hold an election. Making this same bill apply to both Jerusalem & the Golan rather than having a seperate bill for each gives the government 2 options to get what they want. If they want to give up Jerusalem do a quick and easy deal with Assad giving him the Golan and then say the people officially gave us the right to give up Jerusalem in that bill. If they want to give up the Golan all they need to do is work out a deal with the palestinians where through some get out clause they give up Jerusalem and then they can give up the Golan as well. If there are enough leftists in the Knesset all wanting to give up Jerusalem because they feel its the only way to get a deal with the palestinaisn under US pressure I am sure they could get enough votes to avoid the referendum. Do that and then they can get a quick and easy deal with Syria and public objection wouldn't matter. The real winners from this bill are the leftists who want to give away land because they will find a way to get what they want. If this was a referendum bill then it would say that it will be a straight yes or no question and the result of the referendum would last a minimum of 10 years and after that there must be another referendum if the government gets more ideas on giving away land.
8. This is Insane
Gabrielle   (07.14.10)
In the end, Israel would be ceding the Golan to Iran. This matter should never, never be open for discussion, voting nor referendums. Israel has never benefitted from ceding land, and it never will. What is Israel trying to do? Apologize to the world for defending itself? This is absolute cowardice, and it will ultimately cost Israel dearly if it passes. You would think that, by now, Israel has learned from its past mistakes. By the way, isn't it interesting that Russia is now interested in the "Piece" Process in light of the fact that it supplies the enemies of Israel with things like weapons, tanks and nuclear facilities?
9. How many morons are there out there who
Vicky ,   Ashkelon Israel   (07.14.10)
Would vote to give up the two most important places to our security? Be very careful how its worded.
10. :: A meaningless bill
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (07.14.10)
No other nation in the world recognizes Israel’s claim to sovereignty over the Golan Heights and Palestinian E Jerusalem. Israel can make as many ‘claims to sovereignty’ and pass as many ‘referenda’ as it wishes yet without international recognition such claims are meaningless. If this bill is passed the only thing it will do is tie the hands of the Israeli Gov and make it less possible to attain peace agreements. Of course this may well be what Israel wants as it has never been interested in achieving a lasting peace.
11. It's not yours
Sandra ,   Scotland   (07.14.10)
So hence voting to give it away is not your right The land is internationally viewed as occupied Israel has no claim what so ever to that land except if it's gifted to them by the palestinians
12. Golan referendum.
DT ,   TA Israel   (07.14.10)
You can have my vote now ! No, Never ever !
13. THIS IS CAPITULATION... APPEASEMENT BY STEALTH
stude ham   (07.14.10)
no government of israel has any right to cede any of the areas gained through the blood of its people. this bill only gives israel's enemies more rope with which to hang the state.
