1. :: The viciousness of this regime has no bounds
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (07.15.10)
If they do it to their own for insignificant offenses imagine how they will terrorize the entire Middle East, Turkey included, once they obtain nuclear weapons.
2. Hell must be a relief for these poor little girls.
pierre   (07.15.10)
And the civilized world accept islam in it's midst; the wild dog of world religion. Married at 14 with a sex crazed savage; the custom and duty according to allah and his sanguinaire muhammad.Revultion, repulsive, sadistic are the only words one can think when reading about these cases. Poor little girls. Macho islamic thug showing his manhood.
3. #1,2 are the last ones to speak about stoning
observer   (07.15.10)
the consistent faithful Jew should stone his son or daughter if she comes home from a yoga class.
4. Animals
sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (07.15.10)
A government has no right what so ever to execute its own citizens. I am an American and I am so against the death penalty but to stone someone for having an alleged affair is barbaric. The ayatollahs and the way they interpret religion is disgusting.
5. Very sad
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (07.15.10)
everyone makes a mistake! Nothing wrong in having a humane punishment (unless this is against Iranian version of Islam). We christians believe in forgivness and second chances. Sad to see this is out of the question in the evil republic of Iran
6. evil men- evil religion
Farah   (07.15.10)
the brutality of those men, the viciousness of the religious elite- - no wonder Islam is the most hated religion- . other religions have made mistakes in the past- they have evolved to a civilized standard- not Islam. It has become a danger to its own people, the more moderate and open minded ones. Ahmad and his clique are evil men- and they dare mention Allah- . I hope they rot in hell-
7. Disgusting
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.15.10)
Iran is primitive, backward, cruel and unjust. And some people think Iran should be a nuclear power. The best thing that could possibly happen to the world (not to mention Iranian women) is for the Islamic Republic of Iran to collapse or be overthrown. The ayatollahs and the mullahs that are the driving force behind this oppressive regime need to be made very, very dead.

10. The most ungodly law ever is shariah law
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (07.15.10)
those poor poor DEFENCELESS YOUNG women. The world is too concerned with the sham 'palestinians' and their fake story rather than dealing with real stories like these. This should not be happening ANYWHERE in the world - why do we tolerate Iran?
11. #3 - what are you talking about?
Michael Redbourn ,   arad - israel   (07.15.10)
Time to up your medication. You come across like a loony tune. I hope you make a full recovery! Mike
12. "a human rights group reported"
Chatich   (07.16.10)
Wow, I thought they were all too busy smearing Israel to even notice what happens elsewhere. Obviously, this group has no affiliation with the UN. Maybe they're even a legitimate human rights organization. Could be the first!
13. #10, Lee from Manchester
Chatich   (07.16.10)
"The world is too concerned with the sham 'palestinians' and their fake story rather than dealing with real stories like these." This is one of the most relevant, truthful and poignant statements I've read on this site in a long time. And that very much includes the news items. Well done.
14. matty - for onced we agree
galut ,   selah   (07.16.10)
if IRAN and its proxy islamist terror proxies ever achieved its dream of a world wide islamic caliphate...this would be apart of thier law system of sharia law....
15. Stone Age
Sean ,   Montreal, Quebec   (07.16.10)
In one of these cases the woman's husband was murdered and then she was further victimized sexually by the murderers. Bringing her to trial shows a sort of Vatican logic as it pertains to the perpetrator in a sexual crime. In another case a child of fifteen is arrested on the word of her husband who betrothed her when she was but fourteen years of age. His crime and the crime of her father seem to have been overlooked. Regrettably there are some religious fanatics who believe women were placed upon earth to seduce men away from god. What a sadistic world view to condemn the act of sex as criminal and the murdering of women an act divine! Shameless, misogynistic thuggery!!
16. Where is Amnesty Intl. and Human Rights Watch? Oh they don't
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (07.16.10)
care about brutal regimes, only places like Israel.
17. Even the vicious Roman Catholics in the Inquisition let
Rivkah   (07.16.10)
a pregnant woman sentenced to death deliver her child first. Shedding innocent blood brings judgment on a nation. The male who is guilty of adultery in Iran should also be executed as well as the husband for driving his wife to another man.
18. 8,11: I think #3 is referring to the requirement of Eastern
Rivkah   (07.16.10)
religion activities such as yoga to say as a prelude to the activity that one's body and mind are one's own instead of saying one's mind and one's body belong the the Lord Yahweh. Yoga is a renunciation of the Lordship of Yahweh, so stoning a son or daughter for a yoga lesson is not beyond comprehension if one allows only those who worship Yahweh in one's home. But the better resolution to a yoga lesson would be to tell the son or daughter it is a pagan religious ritual that should be abandoned. If that does not bring a resolution, throw them out if they are of age or put them into foster care where religion does not matter. Pay for the foster care until the child is 18 and then say goodbye unless there is repentance of the heathen activities.
19. not really Iran but Islamic dictatorships - arabs comments ?
avi   (07.16.10)
same madness is happening in Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Irak, Kurdistan and in places we never know about. stone age people were more civilized !! makes me respect Jesus on that one ...
20. Jewish, Islam, and modern values clash
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (07.16.10)
Interestingly enough, according to Jewish Torah law a proven adulteress is put to death - not in the same brutal manner perhaps, but there is the death penalty. In this manner Jewish law agrees with Islamic law. It is only the modern western concept of law that is at loggerheads with religious law. Not that I prefer to see woman put to death in a cruel manner, but remember it is the liberal western law that promotes loose moral values and therefore is abhorred when a society that is not based on western law follows its own democratic tradition of putting adulteresses to death. This would be interesting to think about if it were not so tragic.
21. Iranian justice
Zuri ,   Sydney Australia   (07.16.10)
I do not know if I can criticize Iranian justice system, but I know one thing for sure: I do not agree with this barbaric execution, I do not agree with Iranian power of court to take life away. I do not agree that during the riot in Iran they shot, imprison , and RAPE innocent civilian, they use religion in order to control the people, I want to ask a question: does Islam permit also to kill unborn child? this justice is sick, when are they going to be free again???
22. Islam and women
Marilyn ,   USA   (07.16.10)
One just gets the feeling that Mohammed hated women. It's like there was some pathology going on within him (also regarding the violence). Now either Islam is going to have to work at changing or it's going to somehow have to live with the idea that people aren't happy.
23. If the European dont
Shariah law ,   will be in Europe   (07.16.10)

you need your medication to,we have some good ones from Teva a jewish company from Israel.
26. Jewish Law
David Segal ,   Philadelphia USA   (07.16.10)
Uh, Larry... You are trying to tar Israel with Iran's brush. Whatever law the Islamic Republic of Iran may follow, the "Jewish Torah law" concerning adultery is not the law of Israel and never has been. In the past 60 years, Israel has executed only one person -- Adolf Eichmann. In fact, I don't even think that adultery is a crime in Israel.
27. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani
Kenneth Berry ,   Riverview NB Canada   (07.16.10)
Adultery? What about the men? No mention of them. Shouldn't they be stoned also? Animals? Only subhumans do things like that.
28. do Shiites follow the Jewish law?
observer   (07.16.10)
only woman have been stoned in Iran, although both man and women who committed adultery have to be stoned according to Shariaa law. Well Muslims believe in the Torah, but don't have to follow the Jewish law of stoning only woman.
29. Observer
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (07.16.10)
When you see a news that Jews or Israeli's have sentences a women to death by stoning (RECM) then let men know. Until then stop making false accusation because Jews do not do that.
30. Why Stone, Why not Crucify?
observer   (07.16.10)
Stoning was the traditional Jewish method of public execution. Not Roman. I have seen a list of 63 stoning offenses. You can find them in the Pentateuch. The Jews that wanted Jesus removed from the picture wanted the Romans to execute the punishment so they did not look like they were involved, and the matter had it been handled by an outside third party. Another reason why Jesus was crucified, instead of stoned is because the Jews didn't want to be unclean for Passover....It was a Jewish custom to stone, and also Passover. If the Jews had stoned him, then they would have been ceremonially unclean, and not able to partake of Passover.
