31. Jordan is Palestine: THAT is the solution to Arab nationalis
Jae ,   Lynn US   (07.16.10)
and Islamic colonialism in Israel, otherwise known as "Palestinianism." Before the 60's, no Arab in Israel identified as a Palestinian. They were arabs, connected to either syria lebanon egypt jedjaz (arabia). Only when the Jews had rebuilt their country from ancient times, suddenly the arabs called themselves palestinians. They are arabs, and as such they should either live in one of the 22 arab countries today, or if they will be loyal they should be israeli citizens. Also Jordan should be their nationalistic homeland with passport, citizenship et al.
32. Matty Groves approves of Ethnic Cleansing
Truth Hertz ,   UK   (07.16.10)
but only of Jews of course. He wants all those parts of the Land of Israel that were successfully ethnically cleansed of Jews by the Arabs in the 1948 war to be cleansed of Jews again.
33. The problem with this is:
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (07.16.10)
That it will embolden Hamas in the West bank and weaken Abbas and the moderates. The Palestinian Arab street will see it as Hamas can get what they want and they will support Hamas in the WB turning this peaceful border into a dangerous border. PS: In a final peace agreement Israel want to keep military presence in the border between WB and Jordan in order to prevent illegal arm and terrorist infiltration. To have Hamas in that area is not a what Israel would like to have. What seems nice on words or paper may not be the best solution.
34. Salma and Liebarman
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (07.16.10)
The only good that came about this news from Liberman is that now Salma likes Lieberman. Sounds like a miracle.
35. That´s seem to be a good idea.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.16.10)
If EU and cia. complain about Israel, now they will not have reasons anymore to complain. Those who complain, must bear the responsabilities to resolv the matter of complaint,as long as Israel has alraedy desingaged. Now,as Gaza is a non entity,of course it has to have guardians. It is better to deal with their guardians than with a nobody. Let the gardians resolve their lives. Now,if by any means the guardians resolve to emancipate the child, then Israel can fight with a real terrorist entity, who will not be hiding itself anymore behind the cover of a poor helpless child,to whom all usefull idiots of the world wish to deliver humanitarian weapons nowadays. I just plain doubt that those spoiled children want to be emancipated and stop receiving the whole amount of spoils they have been, in order to keep being a beligerant, bloody Nothing. It will be interesting to see Gaza guardians holding such a hot stone.
36. A Shallow Plan That Misses The Crux
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (07.16.10)
As intelligent and reasonable as this plan seems to be it unfortunately misses the very crux of the whole Israeli-Arab conflict especially the Israeli-Palestinian struggle. Palestinian aspirations and ambitions, - if not even legitimate rights - whether in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank , or anywhere else , keep calling for a just solution for the Palestinian refugees' problem as much as for the establishment of a full-fledged Palestinian state . Anything less than that would surely guarantee the continuation of the state of war between the Arabs and Israel. Make no mistake . I am not referring to the late Arafat, or to Abbas, or to the PLO, PA, or HAMAS... I am trying to remind you it is the question of the Palestinians as a people that counts first and foremost !
37. Finally
Moshe ,   Chicago - USA   (07.16.10)
I thought Lieberman was terrible until now. I still think he is terrible, but this is a good IDEA. The problem is, even if this works out perfectly (and honestly I hope it does) Israel will still be blamed for all of Gaza's problems. G-d send peace please.
38. I vote for Liberman
Yossef   (07.16.10)
It is about time that somebody in the government comes to this conclusion. It has been repeated, in these talkbacks, zillions of times. Good point for Liberman. Next time I'll vote for him as PM. No doubt now that he is the only one able to manage the situation correctly.
39. Doug
Yossef   (07.16.10)
You don't understand much in politics, it seems, especially in Israeli politics. WE DON'T CARE ABOUT GAZA, IT IS A BURDEN FOR ISRAEL. We want to disconnect Gaza from Yudah-Shomron. BTW Yehuda Ben Israel, stop with UN resolution, we don't care what will become Gaza, it is not our business. Doug, the only one hurt by freeing Gaza is Abu Mazen and the PA because they cannot link anymore Gaza population to Yudah-Shomron population. It is what the only who want to continue the blockade is the PA, Yes ! You got it now ? שבת שלום
40. #21, I agree
Danny   (07.16.10)
Israel should reconquer Gaza. If Israel is going to be "occupying" Gaza it should do so properly.
41. This will never fly
Danny   (07.16.10)
None of the interested parties want an end to this. Hamas doesn't want to suddenly be responsible for Gaza, the UNWRA doesn't want to have the gravy train end, the Arabs don't want to have to deal with the Palestinians getting what they claim they want, and Erdogan has an election to win.
42. #40 Right Danny
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.16.10)
Israel should reconquer Gaza and manage to send Gazans to live in Fairport,in Washington.. can also be in Greece,or...even Meca and its surroundings. That should had been done long ago,but the leftists of Israel might had thought that the poor babies would be more happy doing their alive video game of shooting lives in Israel. You know, leftists like to have all kind of awkward ,weird babies.
43. Liberman
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (07.16.10)
Liberman's plan may work, because it's in the interest of the fat cats of Hamas,Europe will feed Gaza and Hamas will rule,Hamas will reallize it's better to do business with Europe than be told what to do by Iran and Syria,i wish Israel will do the same in East Jerusalen, silwan, and most important vadi Ara.
44. Two Approaches: Seal it Off, or Destroy It
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUsA   (07.17.10)
Anything that moves the area towards a realitic peace will fall on deaf ears. Look, the goal of every Arab/Muslim is to make the entire area Judenrein. Then, to massacre as many Diaspora Jews as feasible. (Read fatwas and their charters). Giving autonomy (Allon Plan) to the W. Bk, Strip..would force Hamas. Fatah to give up their goals. For all practical purposes, the Strip is separate from the W. Bk, Jerusalem and Golan. Israel needs another alternative however..sending in 1,000 tanks, with needed weaponry to secure the beaches, port area, and search and destroy Hamas once and for all. Giving them the two would move peace fwd. But Lieberman's lifting of the siege also has problems.
45. Lieberman's a genius! He should run for PM of Gaza!
David ,   Miami, USA   (07.18.10)
Imagine! No control over massive arms shipments to Gaza! Only international supervision! This will really work! Just like it's working in Lebanon! And let Hamastan have its own electric and water facilities? Brilliant! Once Israel has accepted Lieberman's plan Hamastan can have their own air bases too! With jet fighters and anti-aircraft missiles! Who'da thunk! Fantastic! Who cares if Hamastan jets fly over the border since we're going to build a really special fence and no checkpoints, let ME tell YOU! Now THAT'S what I call toughness! Who cares if Hamastan jets bomb Tel Aviv! A better fence will solve everything! Just like the FIRST disengagement! And of course this will really stop Hamas, since the moment West Bank Palestinians see the concessions Hamas got out of Lieberman, EVERYONE will join Hamas! That'll REALLY fix Hamas' wagon! It'll teach them a lesson! Lieberman for Hamastan president!
