1. an attempt to get back into Americas good books?
zionist forever   (07.18.10)
Assad has been desperate to get into Americas good books have all sanctions lifted and allow American companies to invest more in Syria. Obama doesn't like against any kind of religious based restrictions on life. He cant tell his muslim friends to change the system but if Syria is doing it out of choice Obama won't be complaining. Is this just another one of Assads ploys to gain favor in the US especially now Obama is in power and he is obsessed with the so called peace process and hates the idea of Israels very existence?
2. What an anti muslim racist !

and the freedom of religion ? What if we were doing it ? the whole world would condemn us . He may do it of course , he is not Jewish [ nor Belgian or French ]

The Muslim Brotherhood tried to overthrow Assad Sr. The Brotherhood sees the Alawite dominated regime to be illegitimate. I think that's why Syria is banning the full veil.

ridiculous- wearing a burka is not freedom- it is slavery for women- brainwashing by bigots- the Koran does NOT demand full cover. It is an invention by fanatics who want women to stay second class citizens- even Muslims admit it..... this type of cover can be used to smuggle whatever- Israelis of all people should know this, Charles. IF Israel did forbid the burka, the world would applaud...of course it would also mean not allowing the orthodox to dictate how women have to dress and where to sit... one has to be consistent. Besides: banning the burka in Europe has little to do with religion, the law demands that no person is allowed to hide the face in public or in government buildings, soccer stadiums etc... - men or women - for security reason. It is extremist muslims who twist this as an anti-islam law.
6. I went to University in Syria

and nobody wears Burkas anywas. Actually very few girls wear hijabs. High heels and tight shirts are the most popular. Girls in Damascus dont leave the house unless looking their best.

Your right, this is a bone fide case of discrimination and racism against muslims. Just because muslims are persecuting other muslims, does not make it ethicallly or morally right. Unfortunately, Syria is not the best country in the world when it comes to human rights or protecting the right of religion
8. hahahaha very good indeed even Muslims

9. Lisa , Can't you understand the "meaning"
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.19.10)
of wath i wrote ? You know me already . Had i to add : this would be said if another country had done it ? The whole , at least a big part of , world would condemn us , beginning with all the "human rights" NGO's . Have you read some reactions after the French ban ? In the UK there are also [ ministers ? ] who oppose such a ban . Try to read "entre les lignes" before commenting , please .

It's not a case of discrimination asnd racism against muslims . It's a HUMAN decision t6o free women from this backwards oppression . It's also a safety measure . Nobody can see who's unther this burka , nobody can see if she [ or a HE ] has arms or explosives hidden in this burka . I had to add , after my "condemnation" : this is what "human rights" NGO's or fanatic muslim will say . I tought that people were smarter and would understand .
