31. # 30 Advice
Raptor   (07.26.10)
Try changing your name to Mohammad and call yourself Humudi.
32. #17 Rami, look it up. This isn't the first such case.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (07.26.10)
The previous case was of a man who claimed to be a government employee, and who got a woman to sleep with him in exchange for supposedly getting her tax-related debts exempted. He got ten years in prison. And he was absolutely, positively, entirely Jewish. Further, and this from other coverage of the case (check CNN's article archive), Kashour's lawyer agreed to a plea bargain that stipulated punishment. Why did they agree to such a plea-bargain? Why didn't they go ahead with the trial if they'd just demolished the supposed victim's testimony? She's a sole witness, that means if she's lying, there's no case whatsoever. Instead, they signed a plea bargain. A plea bargain where Kashour essentially pled guilty. Why did Kashour and his lawyers do this, instead of going ahead with the trial? He admitted to a crime that had a precedent of severe sentencing!
33. sex on the roof
Dave ,   Tel Aviv   (07.26.10)
He absolutely is no rapist, but the two of them should be punished for having sex on a rooftop! Why is the media ignoring this!
34. No one thinks this is funny?
justaguy ,   CA, USA   (07.27.10)
Must be because I'm american and unfamiliar with middle-eastern names but really. . . "dudu" (doodoo). Hilarious by itself but the fact that this guy is somewhat of a sleaze just makes it so much more funny. LOL
35. The lady is a tramp !
Avi ,   Israel   (07.27.10)
She consults to have anonimous sex with a stranger and then cries rape afterwards ? Do me a favor, the only thing this man did wrong was to get involved with a tramp like that ! Most married men who go for casual sex never say they are married or for that matter give their real name. How naive can this women be.
36. Dave #30
Malone ,   Hfx   (07.27.10)
Because this woman was most likely a hooker, lol.
37. #28 - I've seen more retarded issues in US courts
William ,   Israel   (07.27.10)
and many of them from a warped perspective of "morality". But I've never heard you address this in your "democratic" nation. Could it be you're just a self-righteous racist?
38. #32 - what was the reason for his guilt?
William ,   Israel   (07.27.10)
Was it the generality of lying for sex, or was it the impersonation of a govt employee? I figure the latter would bring a much heavier sentence.
39. hmmm
jerusalem   (07.27.10)
i wonder what will become of him when he goes back to his community. arab society is arab society...then again nothing might happen... we'll just have to wait and see
40. My daddy's advice
shira z ,   j'slm / nj   (07.27.10)
When I was 15, my father told me, "All boys are scum. They're only after 1 thing..." Seriously, how many men lie in order to get laid? Should a HS boy who tells his gf, "I love you," when all he really wants is a lil sumin-sumin be charged with rape? Here, we are not even talking abt an ongoing relationship which was based on a lie, but rather an encounter that took place after 10 min of conversation...
41. This guy gets 18 months for rape but the IDF guy got 16years
(07.27.10)
It is the Jew who got injustice.
42. FREE DUDU (and Gilad)
daniel ,   finland/israel   (07.27.10)
he has done nothing for him to be put into jail. if the authorities go through with this it will set an unsavory legal precedent which trumps morals, human rights, democracy and reeks of racist tendencies. DISGUSTING. FREE DUDU.
43. the real story
observer   (07.27.10)
the woman flattered him, shortly later went with him to a building where they were together. But, the man escaped, leaving her naked because ha can never afford the bill. The man's wife, happened to be cousin of Khaled Mashaal, forgave his unprecedented slip. It's the fault of the government which doesn't put rules of charging beforehand the to be customer. has she admitted that she works on the streets?
44. Rising to his level of competence
Ilan ,   Ariel   (07.27.10)
While the sentence is a bit extreme he at least has arrived to where he belongs. A real piece of work that will no longer roam free.
45. #12, you're only partly right
R ,   Israel   (07.27.10)
If you are a real criminal, you will most likely be given a very short sentence, if at all, and will be let out for weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc.
46. #32 This is the first such case
Daniel ,   UK   (07.27.10)
The other case you're mentioning is that of a Jewish Israeli who impersonated a public official and told a woman in financial trouble he could clear her debts if she had sex with him. This is different as he was clearly abusing a vulnerable woman whereas the woman who had sex with the Arab Israeli was clearly not being pressured into it. Also the Jewish Israeli was convicted of FRAUD not rape so it's irrelevant. No Jewish Israeli has ever been convicted of 'consensual rape' like this ridiculous case.
47. #1 some people will use any justification
observer   (07.27.10)
The case you refer to included a promise of financial incentives. They are thus totally dissimilar and the former case cannot be used as a precedent. But the 'judge' did just that. This 'judgement' is a terrible indictment of the Israeli 'justice system' and deserves to overturned and the victim compensated as in any usual miscarriage of justice. The 'judge' should be strongly censured. In many countries I believe he would be sacked.
48. #38 His trial was about Rape by Deception.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (07.28.10)
His pretending to be a government employee was a completely separate issue - and not one, I think, that lands one 10 years in jail in Israel.
49. #46 You're wrong, it wasn't a fraud case.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (07.28.10)
It was a Rape by Deception case. It's the case this law is based on in the first place, with the Supreme Court having defined based on that very case that such an interpretation of the law exists, and should be applied. The precedent exists, and that's the whole point of it. Kashour's lawyers signed a plea bargain that stipulated punishment for such a crime - regardless of him having committed it or not in all fact, he basically admitted to it in front of the court. Perhaps he shouldn't have done that. Perhaps he should have trusted the court to acquit him once the woman who complained of rape against him fell apart in her testimony. But he didn't. His lawyers signed a plea bargain for him which saw him plead guilty, and which required a punishment. That was, I'm sorry to say, his mistake. The absurdity doesn't start and end with the judges - Kashour's own legal defense holds its own share of the blame.
50. Actually the guy simply raped her
Danny   (09.18.10)
and plea bargained down to "rape by deceit". When did journalists start taking convicted criminal's stories about their crimes at face value? Apparently when it fits the "Israeli is racist" paradigm
