1. Abu : A lot of scrambling to buy time.
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (07.29.10)
2. Arabs just kicking the can down the road
yehoshua ,   usa   (07.29.10)
Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla. Arabs think they have all the time in the world. Eventual outcome will be Arabs over taking Jews with numbers. But I see millions of Chines and Indian Jews being found.
3. Who are these mere men to Make WAR On G-D?
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.29.10)
G-D's Word is eternal and NEVER changes! G-D is NOT a man that He should change His mind! The Creator stated repeatedly in the Bible that He gave Israel to the Jews as an everlasting possession. And thousands of years ago, G-D said in the Bible: Psalm 135 "For the L-RD has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His own possession." One future day, all who attempted to give away, take, or steal even one inch of G-D's Holy Land will face terrifying judgments from G-D. They should repent before it is forever too late.
4. Now, all that the Muslim-Arabs need to do is...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.29.10)
...accept Israel's right to be - not only the fact that it is - to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people. This of course would be based on historic, ethical and legal rights of the Jewish people. And, in addition, the Muslim-Arab counterparts of Israel will have to agree that a signed peace treaty means the "end of the conflict" between the sides. Can the Muslim-Arabs meet these two simple and logical requirements or will they once again try to extricate themselves? And, will Mr. Barakah Hussein Obama accept these two simple requirements or will his up-bringing and former loyalties dictate to him how he must "deal with the Jews"...??
5. OK, Now let's get going
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.29.10)
Israel is dealing with the 67 borders as the starting point, everybody knows that. So nothing is needed in writing from Israel. That has always been the starting point, why Abbas keeps insisting on written assurances, to something everybody takes for granted seems silly. The freeze will expire in September, so Abbas should jump on direct talks, that's how you force Israel to continue the freeze. If Abbas goes to direct talks and Israel lifts the freeze, Israel will be blamed for failure of the peace talks. So now is the time, we'll see if Abbas takes advantage of it. But again I must bring up the same issue, will Hamas honor any agreement reached, and, what are the repercussions...to Hamas...if they refuse?
6. I hope they reach a deal
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.29.10)
This would benefit both the Israeli's and the Palestinians. It would improve both economies and help the average guy on the street among the Palestinians. Let us hope the outside influence's who want this conflict to never end lose their battle.
7. obumma backs him into a corner and still no talks, HA HA HA.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (07.29.10)
8. friends...brothers....
Anna Maria Sedda ,   Italy   (07.29.10)
when in need and poor we invite them in our house and give our home, but muslims Countries DO NOT WANT Palesinians...They want theme has far has possible... Can it be that they are right? There are pleanty of fields, homes, jobs, cattle in Jordan,Siria, lebanon,Iran,Saudy Arabia,Irak.... Why they DO NOT WANT TO AID their Palestinians muslim-brothers and friends.. Can it be that......none of them wants them!!!!!!!
9. No "peace" without native voting rights.
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (07.29.10)
Talks should be aimed at ending Apartheid, one person one vote. Create two States, one Country, Palestine Israel.
10. On the "millions" of Chinese/Indian Jews...
Nour ,   One-State الدولة   (07.29.10)
The majority of Indian Jews have "made Aliyah" (migrated) to Israel since the creation of the modern state in 1948. A total of 75,000 Indian Jews now live in Israel (over 1% of Israel's total population) Where are the "millions" of Jews in China and India waiting to go to Israel? Silly face! Nice try though.
11. As i always said
Johnny ,   Nazareth   (07.29.10)
the Palestinians are those who don't want peace! From their fruits you'll know them...
12. Abbas really said "I will not enter negotiations"
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (07.29.10)
Abbas has set preconditions that can not be met so he can claim it is Israel's fault that talks are not going on. Non-of his preconditions existed for previous talks or negotiations - what does he expect now? Obama to guarantee the outcome before the talks begin? Then why hold talks?
13. I have a feeling that In some good 10 years or so
Omri ,   Israel   (07.29.10)
Israel and the Arab league will have to unit to stop the extreme iranians out of here. Modern day leaders may know this but there are just so many reasons why not to improve relations in public. Mostly for haters from both sides as old war wounds have not yet healed ( i mean hatered caused by war).
14. West Bank
Seppo ,   Finland   (07.29.10)
HaShem speaks in Jeremiah 30:"and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their farthers, and they shall POSSESS it." I have not seen anywhere the text: give it away free. You have all the legal rights to annex WB. UN Charter confirms the decisions made by League of Nations in 1922 are valid. Peace negotiations according to 242 have been made with Jordan and the border agreed was the river. "Palestinians" at that tine were citizens of Jordan and thus Jordan decided for them. Arabs in WB would be israeli citizens and then Abbas and others should follow the laws of Israel. You have all the legal elements in your hands to possess the land. What more you expect HaShem to do?
15. # 3 Even The Golden Calf Loves Israel & Israelis
Brod ,   USA   (07.29.10)
16. Proof Obama wrecked ME peace by idiotic "freeze" demand
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (07.29.10)
Israeli rebuilding of destroyed Jewish communities of 1948 in land recaptured in '67 from Trans-Jordanian conquistadores ("settlements") was not an obstacle to Oslo or to the 15 years of negotiations that followed (which Israel did not suspend despite Arab violations like bus bombing, suicide attacks, or rocket terrorism, or Abbas' loss in the elections). It only became an obstacle when our JACKASS El Presidente Obama decided to make it one, so he could show the Arabs how he could push Israel around and "deliver" them Bibi on a platter. It didn't work. This moron, facing a disaster at the polls in November, now thinks that by bribing Abbas with concessions and promises, he can move to "direct negotiations" as a way to blackmail Israel into extending the "freeze" so it won't be "blamed" for another PA refusal to negotiate. Simple fact is this - no israeli government will ever trust either Obama or any other Democrat regime in the White House to honor the massive security quarantees Israel is entitled to and will demand in any Peace. And therefore, there will be no Peace under Obama. He wrecked it with his dishonesty, bigotry, arrogance and duplicity, and claiming "I screwed up" (as he did with the US economy, the oil spill and Afganistan) is not going to work this time. Bibi's plan is to wait until Obama is voted out of office, and it should be.
17. I THOUGHT ABBAS WANTED INDEPENDENCE
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne,   (07.29.10)
This is a very strange state of affairs. Abbas is supposed to be negotiating,if you call it that, for an independent Palestinian Arab state, yet he checks every move for approval from the Arab League. Even stranger, the Arab league knows the way forward, direct talks, yet Abbas refuses. More and more it's becoming clear that the impediment to progress is Abbas and his old PA clique who have too much too lose from change.Abbas is the Palestinian Arab's problem but he holds all the instruments of power in his hands and they have no way to get rid of him because he won't hold a free, fair election. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
18. The Jews are the natives and the Arabs the colonialists
Genuine Moshe   (07.29.10)
19. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.29.10)
Okay. Minnesota is such a tall state, I'm sure there's plenty of room for the Palestinians to take up residence there. Israel won all the wars. Sixty-plus years of unrelenting terror against Jews on a global scale have not endeared the Palestinians to Jews or Israelis. And let us not overlook the fact that the Palestinians have rejected a two-state solution on no fewer than THREE occasions. The Palestinians are in no position to set terms and conditions for anything. They either settle for whatever Israel very graciously and generously chooses to give them -- or they get nothing at all and find themselves collectively deported to Jordan -- the REAL Palestinian state. Or -- you can resettle them in Minnesota. Good luck.
20. :: Eric - #12 - Interesting quote...
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (07.29.10)
Funny you should say that as it reminds me of a interesting quote: "We must define our position and lay down basic principles for a settlement. Our demands should be moderate and balanced, and appear to be reasonable. But in fact they must involve such conditions as to ensure that the enemy rejects them. Then we should manoeuvre and allow him to define his own position, and reject a settlement on the basis of a compromise position. We should then publish his demands as embodying unreasonable extremism" - Former Israeli Chief of Military Intelligence, General Yehoshafat Harkabi. Maybe Abbas is taking a leaf out of Israel’s book?
21. LOL! Abbas wants direct talks, except a few preconditions :)
Yaniv ,   Israel   (07.29.10)
22. Sarah question?
Shane ,   USA/Australia   (07.29.10)
I thought that the palestinians rejected a two state peace treaty only once at camp david what were the other two times?
23. LATEST REPORTS ARE THAT ABBAS HAS SAID NO TO DIRECT TALKS
stude ham   (07.29.10)
and that the so called arab league has agreed with that. anyways... abbas does not lead the socalled palestinian arabs since he has no influence whatever over gaza and hamas ... so these talks... direct or indirect... are nothing more than a grandstanding political farce. ps... jerusalem is ours!
24. to Sarah B - what about false Jews (Israelis)
n.d   (07.29.10)
If 2000 years of Palestinian/arab rule didn't make the land Palestine, then 62 years ain't going to make it Israeli
25.  League is boss.Fateh comes secondary.
Roland Seener ,   London England   (07.29.10)
26. Yowza! I say we play by Minnesota rules!!!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.29.10)
Gol darn it! Steve Benassi is 101% right! But let's use Minnesota rules... which are modified American rules (or modified Australian rules if our Aussie fans are reading). Steve is correct - one person, one vote. We'll do it like the Americans did. They gave the native Americans the vote after they had slaughtered so many of them with war or smallpox, and only after so many millions of settlers outnumbered the natives by a huge margin. In fact, despite his US constitution, Steve Benassi's country didn't give the real and true Americans the vote in 1776. In fact it was until almost 150 years later that native Americans got the vote (in 1924). And for decades after, your racist and apartheid state governments did all they could to prevent native Americans from exercising their rights. Ok Benassi. We'll use your model and wait another 60 years before we give Palestinians over the green line the vote. It worked in Minnesota, so why not here?
27. Matty Groves ... still waiting for you to show up
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.29.10)
You might recall a while back you accused me of not living in Israel, let alone in Judea. Well, I'm still waiting for you to show up - I'll buy you the beer so you won't have to be too embarrassed by your insult. The new pizza shop is opening next week at the supermarket at the junction of Highways 60 and 367. How's about a week from today?
28. The world we live in
Green ,   Washington, DC   (07.29.10)
Does anyone else think its rediculous that the Arab League has to give its blessing for peace negotiations with Israel? This is absolutely absurd. Besides the fact that 1967 borders, half of Jerusalem and $$$30 BILLION and a two state solution was on the table in 2000 and Araft refused the extremely generous offer Barak put out there. El El Israel
29. Let's NOT forget Abbas must reciprocate.
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.29.10)
Israel needs written assurances: 1) that all violence be renounced as a means to achieve political goals 2) The new Palestinian constitution must forbid a standing Palestinian army. Since Israel poses no military threat to the new Palestinian state they don't need an army ( this is what Japan did after WW2) 3) Hamas and Fatah must have a joint declaration stating they are unified with Fatah and will honor all Abbas agreements 4) All countries in the Arab league must accept whatever agreement Abbas negotiates and fight alongside Israel to protect Israel against any country that attacks Israel i.e. Iran, Syria, Hezbollah etc. 5) The Arab league, Fatah and Hamas must write a clear and unequivocal Statement that Israel's :Right to exist" is absolute 6) The state run education system in the surrounding Muslim countries must remove all antisemitism routinely taught in their public school system Then Israel can refine further demands as it see fit, this would be a great start. Israel of course will sign the agreements laid out by him(his preconditions) in exchange.
30. Only strong Muslim army with nukes would bring real peace
