Ah, but you miss a key point. Palestine was NEVER sovereign territory. There never was a country called Palestine. Arab rule was brief. The Ottoman Turks governed Palestine for the longest period of time since the destruction of the Second Temple by the Romans in 72 A.D. Israel, on the other hand, IS a sovereign state.
