World's hypocrisy knows no end.
2. Hypocrisy
Jack ,   LA, USA   (07.30.10)
Way to go, Shaul. I just wonder why there are not more voices like yours? Is the majority of Israeli journalists either dumb of hypocrites themselves.
3. Hypocrisy
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.30.10)
Maybe it's the result of Israel's paying attention to everybody and their brother-in-law for everything that's none of anybody's business, but Israel's, when Israel should do one of 3 things: Ignore them, laugh at them, or suggest they practice auto-eroticism. 10 a--hats go screaming to somebody that 2 IDF members mistreated them who knows when, why or how and Israel goes into convulsions and promises to look into it, goes through gyrations to find the perpetrators, etc. opening the door for every member of the Alphabet Establishment - UN, EU, US, UK, etc. to pounce. Put the name of some misguided Jew on a final BS report and Israel's guilt is now established. When all is said and done, nobody pays attention to those reports, either, except Israel. For crying out loud, Israel, stop subjecting yourself to this BS, do what you have to do to take care of your citizens and TELL EVERYBODY ELSE TO GO TO HELL!
4. Israel, the nation-state of the Jewish people, has become...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.30.10)
...the substitute in the hearts and minds of many for yesteryear's Jew in society, one that it is fine to humiliate, demonize, even de-legitimize. And all this since three generations after the Jewish Holocaust it is still not politically correct to be an anti-Jewish racist, an anti-Semite. Thus this racism is turned against Judaism as the Jewish people's civilization; against the non-violent (not pacifist) national liberation movement of the Jewish people, Zionism; and against the most important achievement of Zionism, the creation, against all odds of the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, as a substitute for Jewish sovereignty in the Land of olden times.
5. Why ask the question?
US Marine ,   United States   (07.30.10)
Why provoke this issue? We all know Israel is held to a double standard. Cant we just be glad that both the United States and Israel spend significant energy blowing the Islamic enemy back to the stone age?
6. BRITS. LEADERS ARE NUMBER ONE IN HYPOCRACY ..
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (07.30.10)
WE CAN SEE THIS RIGHT NOW IN THE NEWS AND STARING EVERYONE RIGHT IN THE FACE. NO ONE CAN SAY THEY DID NOT KNOW. THE COMMITTING OF " MISTAKES " BY THE BRITS AND U.S. CAUSING SO MANY INNOCENT CIVILIAN DEATHS IS EVIDENT. THAT THE BRITS THINK OF THESE DEATHS AS NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH IN RELATION TO THE SCALE OF THE " GAZA FLOTILLA " INCIDENT IS INSANE. THIS BRITISH ATTITUDE OF " HOLIER THAN THOU " BORDERS ON INSANITY OR CHILISHNESS, OR JUST PLAIN DUMB " ARROGANCE ", BUT PERHAPS WE CAN HOPE OR WISH THAT THE BRITS LEADERS ARE CIVILISED EVEN TO A MINISCULE EXTENT AND MAY BE EVEN TOO ASHAMED TO MENTION THEIR OWN FAULTS..
7. You forgot to mention how the Turks treat the Kurds
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (07.30.10)
while calling for investigations on Israeli troop behavior. That still doesnt dismiss Israel's need to set policy in light of the double standard.
8. To Mr. Shaul Rosenfeld
Johnny ,   Nazareth   (07.30.10)
Good Article but I have another point of view. The western world is dominated by the supreme being , Money. The world leaders are so blinded from the oil money to the point that they don't differentiate good from evil. The most important objective for world leaders is making the saudis happy. If you make the muslims happy then you make the saudis happy. The hypocrisy of a man like Cameron is also coming from the need of the islamic vote in his country. The best tool to use for making the muslims happy is going and talking against Israel. Cameron is a perfect hypocrite to talk against Israel, which is fighting the same enemy that Britain is fighting. Britain is facing hard days,it's economy is not going well and has a lot of illegal immigrants (muslim majority) who are organized like a mafia, protected by the legal muslim immigrants, we all saw the policemen running from the angry muslims in UK a couple of years ago when the cartoon issue happened, so better satisfy the muslims and live in peace, right ? As a self taught of the islamic history and the middle east history and Islam, this will not stay along, muslims see these gestures from the wes as weakness, and they will hit hard in the next terroristic attack, it's just a matter time.
9. Cameron at the time said, he was sorry people died thats all
Tal ,   Tel Aviv   (07.30.10)
He didnt condemn it at the time or demand flotilla allowed in or anything, he was quiet. I know this because the New York Times ran a spread about how quiet Obama and UK leader was in particular, the Guardian did the same, Cameron said nothing. He wants something now, so he says the right things at right time, like a true sales man. What this Ynet didnt report today is that Cameron pretty much offended all of Pakistan and said that all they are importing these days are terrorists. Serously Ynet, we can spin any story into anything. You ignore he is one of Europes biggest Zionists.
10. NETANYAHU AT FAULT
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (07.30.10)
Bibi needs to tell these self-righteous buffoons to take a running jump.
11. in the national interest
sweeter than honey ,   far away   (07.30.10)
respectively, of all nations, real or imagined, there are those who will, indeed have to lie, bend the truth, etc., etc.. i am reminded particularly of shimon peres gloss over the armenian genocide, a fine example of practical realpolitik, showing that military and economic relations and aspirations can and do supercede the truth. what is wrong with this article, (much like the bbc and others in their service to respective nations) is that it richly misleads. it doesn't identify the real strategic threats to israel, it is actually not in the israeli national interest. there are many who would say that the press is actually not a national interest player, really, anyway.
12. Excellent !! don't forget Afghanistan !!
aviG   (07.30.10)
13. Don't 4get Massacre of Muslims in Srebrenica Bosnia in 1995
Elisheva Peres ,   Jerusalem   (07.30.10)
Srebrenica Bosnia massacre of the Muslims happened because the Dutch army let it happen. Let's not forget that in recent years the Dutch have been dumping on Israel. So what do we have: The USA Army's behavior in Iraq and Afghanistan and The Dutch Army's behavior in Bosnia and then there's the Turkish Army's Masssacre of Armenians But that's all "ok" because none of those countries are "the moral gymnasium" of the world! It is only "Israel the Immoral" who must be called into line! Yes indeed, "Hypocrisy is the price that vice pays to virture!" and the world is truly a hypocritical place!
14. Brits release Libyan murderers to get oil deals for BP
Sami ,   New York, USA   (07.30.10)
And Brits release Libyan murderers to get oil deals for BP.
15. US massacre in Panama
Ariel Silverman ,   Karmi'el, Israel   (07.30.10)
You mentioned probably the US "official" account of the raid in Panama during the siege to capture Gen. Manuel Anotonio Noriega. I remember that CNN and other news sources reported that at least 10,000 civilians were massacred by US Manires in Panama City's slums where Noriega had many of his supporters. Former President George Bush, Sr. apparently was unaware of the so called "Panama showdown" when he admited that he was not briefed by the Pentagon. Journalists asked him how did he know about it. He replied his famous answer: "I saw it in CNN". CNN's live coverage of the raid made evident that the operation claimed more lives than what the US report claimed.
16. Hypocrisy
Ralph ,   Caesarea   (07.30.10)
Good article, should be publish in the West's newspapers also.
17. Equality in the Middle East
Ron B. ,   Lod   (07.30.10)
The equality of Israeli Arabs and Jews from diverse ethnic backgrounds demonstrates that Israel claims no “ethnic supremacy.” Rather than “privileging Jews,” Israel upholds rights of religious minorities, including Christians and Muslims — unlike Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia and Iran. Some Muslims realize the truth : http://xrl.us/bhqgkm
18. #5, the problem is the Obama administration has hold in high
Genuine Moshe   (07.30.10)
esteem its preferred allies such as the Brits, the Pakistanis, the Saudis to the point So(B)D Gates said once Israel endangers the life of US soldiers in Afghanistan and Irak, Well, it so happens the Saudis and the Pakistanis need to come clean on this and the Brits are not so reliable. We are tired of helping honestly and loyally the US and getting in return the "gratitude" of the Obama administration.

22. Rosenfeld
Michael ,   Haifa   (07.30.10)
I usually find Rosenfeld's contributions to be quite stupid and obnoxious. This time I have to agree with him and give him the credit he deserves for this piece.
23. Get arrest warrants in the UK
Jonny ,   SA   (07.30.10)
Is it no time for a Jewish Rights group in the UK to get arrest warrants against British, US and UN officials invoved in the deliberate murder of civilians in Afghanistan
24. Absolutely correct
Neil Turner ,   Watford, UK   (07.30.10)
Great article. Many traditional Conservatives, such as myself, are appalled by David Cameron's condemnation of Israel. Whilst he condemns Israel, he embraces Turkey, which as all Israelis will know is moving towards Islamic extremism Please be assured that many in the UK love Israel and will continue to support you.
25. MR Rosenfeld - Very well said !
Jonathan   (07.30.10)
Really appreciate this article, and the style of writing. So true.
26. Who is the real hypocrite?
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (07.30.10)
It's under your noses and in front of your eyes and what you get instead is someone with a fancy title telling you to keep blind and turn up your noses. Gaza IS a prison camp. Hamas ARE terrorists but they replaced a different kind of landlord - US. Instead of admitting that we talk with Hamas frequently, just as we did with the PLO, we maintain this pretence that we are both the most powerful military force in the the region (we are) and that we are all victims too. Ask why did it take 7 long and bitter years to end thye missiles showering the residents of Sderot ? Why? Because it wasn't politically advantageous for the governments of those days to carry out a Cast Lead or anything like it. So those Israeli citizens of Sderot suffered. Ask why Gilad Shalit, my relative, is still held captive by Hamas? Why? Because our government is weak and when there is weak government then extremists fill the vacuum and their best political stance is No! Now ask why David Cameron, a Conservative Prime Minister of the 1st coalition government in the UK since 2nd World War, and an overt friend of ours, says what he says about Gaza? Is he really a hypocrite or is he saying something the so called philosophy lecturer and so many Talkbacks simply do not want to hear. Like it or not we are indeed imprisoning Gaza. When we withdrew our settlements we simply changed the method of our control from internal to external. Of course we need to be sure that ships bringing aid don't also bring in weapons. But ask now how come a Grad missile was fired at Ashkelon today. That missile was not supplied by sea, and even dismantled, the missile is a big item. That must be a big tunnel that Hamas has and the Egyptians allow and we - the most powerful military force in the region - could not detect and destroy. The real hypocrisy is in calling someone else a hypocrite for telling you the truth you simply do not want to hear.
27. YES-YES-YES - AND AS SUCH !!!.
Arn. ,   SWEDEN.   (07.30.10)
AS THE WORD GOES - "STATES DO NOT HAVE MORAL - ONLY INTERESTS " !!!. ALL ANTI-ISRAELI SLANDERS COMES FROM THOSE STATES "INTERESTS" !!!. Arn.
28. hypocracy and how you deal with it..
go4freedom ,   germany   (07.30.10)
war can probably never be a solution to any problem and there will always be "collateral damages". this is the case for the war in iraq, the war in afghanistan, or israel's war against palestine. however, the author of this articel forgets to point out that what israel is doing is breaking international law and resolutions of the un. also, israel has been occupying illegaly palestinian land and has taken steps, so that some of this occupied territory cannot become part of palestine. this is a major difference between the war in afghanistan and the war of israel. one is under a un mandate and is taking place for peace keeping purposes, the other one is taking place to expand israel's land and to oppressing a people. i am against the war in afghanistan and iraq because there is no "just" war and the usa etc commiting crimes, but israel's war is to condemn so vividly because it is a war without any good intention and only to discriminate a whole people that is suffering because of israel.
29. Morally evasive article
op   (07.30.10)
This is a familiar tactic of those who want to divert critical attention from ill-deeds. Instead of defending the actions or in-actions, criticism is dismissed out of hand on the basis that others are just as guilty. Well I say let them be legally accountable for what they do, leaving you to be accountable for what you do. No more "whataboutery".
30. it's insincere opinion like this
sweeter than honey ,   far away   (07.30.10)
from this professional career writer for the ynet brand, notwithstanding the free contributions of 26 & 27, that put me off israel. such lack of integrity. thanks actually, though it's a little too late, for me, to see through you.
