1. Why?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.30.10)
Sounds like a not-too-terribly-veiled threat by Hamas that it will start to target any Palestinian officials that might express a desire to engage in direct negotiations with Israel. Government by intimidation. Hamas certainly has learned from Iran. It might be time to crush Hamas.
2. Only a strong Muslim army with nukes would bring real peace
Ali ,   Peace Land   (07.30.10)
3. ramon stabbing israel
alexi   (07.30.10)
Politics aside, all israelis should advance ideas to help the state. A small number of people try to hurt the state because they are arafat arabs, or pacifists who abhor jews using force and some are cowards and crooks. In this category we already know olmert, a coward of immense proportions who would sell his mother to stay out of jail or make a buck. Olmert's water carrier for years has been ramon, a dumb lackey who is not only stupid, but cowardly like olmert and who likely tried to hurt israel by telling the PLO not to negotiate. This same ramon ran for cover and offered wholesale withdrawal when th ePLO commit tractor terror in Jerusalem. Israel should remove chosen people from the holy books at once as they are not chosen. Given ramon and olmert, they have lots of remedial work to do. And what have I done? One of my sons took karate for 4 years, can defend himself and is an accountant. The other is entering university, is a lifeguard and weightlifter. Both of them have been taught like many israelis to defend themselves and jewish honor, not like rotten cowards olmert and his whole obnoxious family and ramon, one of the dumbest persons israel has ever produced.
4. :: “It might be time to crush Hamas”
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (07.30.10)
You just have to laugh at Sarah BS’s imbecilic statements! The last time I checked Hamas was a small militant group trapped in the Gaza Strip and Israel, one of the most modern armies in the world, has easy reach to ‘squat’ (as Sarah BS would put it) Hamas. Yet for all its trying Israel has only made Hamas stronger and more popular. Heck can anybody name *any* minor Palestinian militant group that Israel has managed to eradicate in the last 60 years? Sarah BS certainly can’t think of any.
5. #2 and #3 - you both need medication badly.
AJ ,   Washington, DC   (07.30.10)
6. It was a coalition of Muslim-Arab states that initiated the
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.30.10)
1948 invasion of Israel, only to be repelled by the defenders of the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel. It was a coalition of Muslim-Arab states, the Arab League, that set up in 1964 the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in order to help "liberate" "Palestine", three full years before Israel captured the now disputed territories.... It was a coalition of Muslim-Arab states, Egypt-Jordan-Syria, that initiated the 1967 Six-Day War, only to cause Israel to repel the invading Muslim-Arab armies once again. And it was a coalition of Muslim-Arab sates, Egypt-Syria, that initiated the 1973 Yom Kippur War, only to be defeated once again. Isn't it time we recognize the fact that the conflict at hand is one between the entire Muslim-Arab world, local and regional, against the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, thus the Arab-Israeli conflict? And isn't it time the Muslim-Arab world shouldered its responsibility and instead of initiating wars set out to achieve peace, by accepting Israel's right to be - not only the fact that it is - to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people. And then, based on UN Security Council Resolution 242 encourage Egypt to take over the Gaza Strip and Jordan to take over much of the West Bank, and all as part of fully implementing the UN resolution that has been the very basis for peace making in our region? P.S. One may ask: and what about the "Palestinians"? Well, 242 doesn't call for the setting up of an additional state in the region, nor does 242 mention concepts such as "Palestine" of "Palestinians". 242 recognizes, rightly, that the conflict is between the Muslim-Arab world and the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, and deals with it in such a way.
7. It's tough being right all the time
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (07.30.10)
As I predicted Hamas is NOT on board. So the question is what repercussions Hamas will face if they don't honor Abbas, and the agreements he makes. Abbas can't control Hamas as has been proved in Gaza. So again we see PROOF POSITIVE that the Palestinians really do NOT want peace. They refuse to stop their civil war. Here go to this website from the BBC: http://www.dohadebates.com/debates/specials.asp# Scroll down to the March 10, 2010 debate between Hamas and Fatah leadership and play the video. There they admit that the Palestinian civil war between Hamas and Fatah has cost 1,436 Palestinian lives including dozens of women and children (Pals killing Pals) and admit these lives were wasted. It's truly amazing to watch. Then you see the Palestinians don't want peace (the dirty little secret) that they don't want the West to know.
8. MORE SUFFERING FOR THE PALIS.. IS THAT ANOTHER HAMAS THREAT?
stude ham   (07.30.10)
9. Abbas will "negotiate" only AFTER Israel surrenders?!
sally   (07.30.10)
Abbas:"We continue to insist that any negotiations with Israel be based on recognition of 1967 as the future borders of the Palestinian state. Before we get to the negotiations, we want clear answers on the borders and settlements". In other words, these are the PA's preconditions - and none of them are realistic from Israel's perspective - so it's reasonable to question what's really behind all the rhetoric. 10. pals will suffer, and hamas will make sure of that
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (07.30.10)
when palestinians suffer, there is no one more happy than hamas.
11. To Hamas
Leah ,   Israel   (07.30.10)
One day in the very near future all your tunnels under all of Gaza will sink and you will all drop in the bottomless pit!
12. So the war on Israel involves the entire arab world body...
ophir ,   nyc   (07.30.10)
interesting how the west cries about Israel and peace talks with the "palestinians" but if only the pali's were on the other side of the negotiating table, why is the arab league's aprroval required?!? so the war on Israel is a religious, ideological war, isn't it?! it's evidence of a larger conflict...when will the west admit this?!?!(i mean the liberals) after cameron's speech in turkey, we may as well hand over the keys to our homes...no one will be safe soon..islamization of the western world is already under way and the islamists will not settle for a truce - it is a proven historical fact.
13. #1 - hence the rocket and mortars today
William ,   Israel   (07.30.10)
14. #2 - just like Arabs did to N. Africa, Central Asia, ME?
William ,   Israel   (07.30.10)
Precedent has shown, no matter where an Arab ends up there will soon be trouble there and peace for no one.
15. #4 - tell Hamas to come out in the open...
William ,   Israel   (07.30.10)
and stop hiding behind civilians and in hospitals... then we'll see what's what.
16. of course
fenfen ,   London, UK   (07.30.10)
of course it will lead to more suffering because Hamas will ensure that it does. They can't possibly drop their victim behaviour - what purpose would there be to their lives?
17. Both the "Hamas" and the PLO...
Jay Kanousis ,   Los Angeles/Jerusale   (07.30.10)
are working together for the destruction of ISrael. They are fighting each other as well. But, remember when it comes to Jews/Israel there is NO difference. The only people that would suffer from direct talks; i.e. are the Jews/Israelis by allowing the creation of a SECOND Arab/Muslim state within its borders.
