31. "only" talk
chanel ,   land of yisroel   (07.30.10)
The Lubavitcher Rebbe warned many years ago that even "talk" about giving away one inch of the land of Yisroel would endanger millions of lives. And how much more so will it effect the whole world. Considering there are a lot of people who want to live in peace, you'd think the real peace seeking folks would start to pay attention to how G-d wants to run the world -- not a smidgling of politicians.
32. Arthur#3
jan ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (07.30.10)
I live in Israel and agree with Arthur. As an Israeli who takes to the steets when needed (as in winning Gilads freedom), I think it is absurd to whine against the government and believe a peoples revolution for our own safety is in order. We can make the government do something. We have to try. Nobody in this world cares about us. It doen't matter,s long as WE care about ourselves. Many peole are tired and cynical after so many, many years of war and international games against us, but we do not have the luxury of giving up on ourselves-Titoruru my sisters and brothers.
33. Israel's Dilema
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.30.10)
This is the Road Map to peace Israel has signed on to. Sadly Israel has forgotten the concept of defeating ones enemies. What happens to a nations which becomes too stupid to defeat ones enemies ?
34. Rani of the US, # 4
sylvio   (07.30.10)
You are right; pathetic is the correct word. What is our Govt doing best?,protecting themselves , First class well stocked bomb shelters, bulletproof limos, battalions of well armed bodyguards (except when they misplace their hi-priced pistols),inside the knesset, inside their homes, while jet setting abroad, Our gas masks, a joke. We are turning into a US replica. The people, for a change?, work for the Govt. For this privilege , this honor, we lavish them with the best of everything a prestigious Knesset can offer. Someday, we will wake up. The price we will have to pay for this "siesta " will be horrendous. Are we getting what we deserve ?

Wonder if this will make the BBC or other world news?!!!
37. Do not take the bait
Sol ,   Toronto, Canada   (07.30.10)
The Islamofascists in Gaza under the direction of Iran want Israel to respond harshly. They care nothing about their own people. Do no take the bait. They are irrelevant. Get on with the diplomacy required for talks. Do not take the bait. If Israel needs to respond file a complaint with the UN. This is a war crime. The UN will ignore it but file enough and their hypocrisy will be clear to all. Do not take the bait.

39. More shelling as peace talks with Fatah loom
Joe ,   Canada   (07.30.10)
Those extremists groups in gaza who have an interest in dooming the direct peace talks (now supported by the Arab League) with Fatah will do their best to bring up the level of violence in the hope that high casualties in Gaza will force Fatah to show solidarity by cancelling talks with israel.
40. #37 sol
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.30.10)
Israel ,please do take the bait and pulverize it to the point that there will be no more bait to deliver from Gaza INTO iSRAEL. No bait ,no problem ! No HAMAS brings a chance for real peace to Israel. Don't listen to the Muslim propagandist Sol in Toronto who works for Hamas.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.30.10)
I appreciate your sentiment and under normal circumstances I would agree with you. Everyone knows that Iran is behind this latest escalation -- Hamas is the toady of Iran; Iran is running scared. We can expect to see a similar escalation of violence in the north, too -- Hizbollah is a proxy of Iran, as well. Thus far, Nasrallah has been able to fend off Iran's urging that Hizbollah step up the pace, but that won't last forever. Terrorists understand strength. Terrorists respect strength. What Israel needs to do is level Beit Hanoun. The message to Tehran will be crystal clear: that could very easily have been Isfahan. Moreover, the people of Gaza have had enough of Hamas' leadership. It won't take much to topple them.
49. #43 - "Palestinian way of deterrence"
William ,   Israel   (07.30.10)
How's that working out for them so far? In decades, no attack by an Arab on Israel has acted as a deterrence, rather it forced Israel to have the upper hand, which was smashed down in the coming future. One "act of deterrence" which only a few Arabs have tried to much success, is accepting Israel and signing a peace agreement. But it's not violent, thus not macho, thus not acceptable to Arab terrorists.
50. #45 - you didn't think hitting homes in factories in Gaza
William ,   Israel   (07.30.10)
were healthy. Infact, you were hear calling them "war crimes" despite the instances of where no casualties were the result. The flour factory, which acted was a legitimate military target based on Intl conventions, is a good example of this. But let's not forget the basis of guilt in a court of law - it's not what you DID commit, but what your intention was, and Hamas' intention was not property damage, but civilian damage.
51. Salma - there is no misunderstanding
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.30.10)
The Palestinians who fired this anti-personnel rocket and the two anti-personnel mortars were trying to kill Israeli civilians, not the King of Saudi Arabia. There is no misunderstanding. The Arab League called on Abbas to negotiate directly. Hamas does not want peace with Israel, nor does it want direct talks. Therefore, Hamas allowed somebody to fire the rocket and mortars. Direct negotiations are the only way to reach peace (other than a total military devastation by Israel and an unconditional surrender by the Palestinians, similar to Japan and Germany in WW2...and look where they are today!). Any progress in peace talks will be met with more and more attacks from Gaza. Hamas gives itself no other options. It does not want peace. My heart is with the people in Gaza who do indeed want peace and to live in peace with Israel.

gift from arabs--peace plan!--blame israel for cast lead defeat
53. The test of Israels Public Relations starts NOW
Tim ,   Brighton   (07.30.10)
This is a News Story that has to be pushed globally Into the press TV and radio because unless pushed WILL not be broadcast Provide images, imterviews, facts etc etc to ensure that the world understands and realises the actions and nature of Hamas In other words Israel eases the blockade and what happens missiles start again But without this proactive approach news like this get BURIED and only news thats anti Israel gets selectively shown Come on Israel get your act together
54. A QUESTION FOR DAVID CAMERON
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne,   (07.30.10)
Have you ever known a 'prison camp' armed with Grad missiles and mortars? THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
55. To: Brian at No. 51
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.30.10)
The Palestinians ARE a vanquished people. Whether they realize it or not is their business; they certainly haven't acted like they realize it, which is probably why they are ten times more fragmented today than they were in 1947 and, if possible, even more primitive and backward today than they were then. As long as they continue to harbor delusions of dislodging Israel, their lot will never improve. Just look at their achievements (LOL!) with self-determination in Gaza and in areas controlled by the Palestine Authority. With respect to Judea and Samaria, everything that Israel did for them following the Six Day War has vanished under the "leadership" of the Palestine Authority; with respect to Gaza -- sooner or later, we're going to have to take it back. Depending upon what will happen in Egypt following Mubarak's demise, might have to take Sinai back, too. (Works for me! We should never have restored it to Egypt in the first place.)
56. The ideal response; the ideal target
Ozraeli ,   Australia   (07.30.10)
Since the Grad apparently fell in a heavily populated area, undoubtedly filled with many shops, the ideal target for a considered, "proportionate", "surgical" response would be the new, highly publicised Gaza Mall... Since the escalators in the Mall don't work yet, wouldn't it be better if it was a single level, "walk through" access, with a children's playground of concrete boulders for climbing & "monkey bars" of twisted steel beams? Also, in line with enhancing & motivating Hamas's academic & economic development, perhaps declaring an Engineering Design contest is in order - their rockets accuracy & power against our rockets accuracy & power?
57. Now is the perfect time to issue Obama an ultimatum -
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego USA   (07.30.10)
Either 1) give Israel a free hand to wipe out the Hamas rocketocracy in Gaza, regardless of civilian casualties that result there, with an unlimited US veto of any UNSC actions to stop it, or 2) immediately pay Israel in hard currency the multi-billion dollar cost of fortifying every Israeli home, schoool, business and public building within GRAD range of Gaza, along with the titanium and Kevlar matt needed for the job, or 3) no Israeli concessions of any kind will be made to the PA in any negotiations unless the first order of business is an agreed upon treaty describing how US ground combat forces will invade Gaza to destroy and disarm all Gaza terrorist organizations to Israel's complete satisfaction, once Israel and the PA sign an agreement that creats a PA state alongside a secure israel. No detailed plan from Obama, no negotiations. After all, Israel-PA agreement is worthless without a 100% effective Gaza containment plan (not just "100% effort but not necessarily 100% results" BS of the Clinton era), since Hamas will never agree, and Israel will never agree to a W. Bank PA state while Gaza continues the war. Obama has been conventiently sidestepping this part of the equation.
58. #23 Jens of Germany
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (07.30.10)
We all know how passionate Germans are. Thanks for reminding us again of that. Please move to Ashkelon and teach us how to deal with this. Are you missing out on another world war? I guess you guys are upset that you can't start another one yet.
59. Isn't it interesting...it's always shock.?..
Edithann ,   USA   (07.30.10)
All that blood and carnage going on over there...and every once in a while an Israeli suffers from 'shock'! I find that more then interesting... I find it suspect...like maybe a common Israeli False Flags...as an excuse to bomb Gaza again and again? Just a thought! Just a thought..but I know it falls on deaf ears for Israeli's...they've been conditioned like Pavlovs' Dog... TATA
60. Grad rockets fired from Gaza
