2. I don't understand - what's the point of the talks?
Sure, we all want peace between us and the Pals.
I also support direct peace talks.
However, what's the game plan for this? What are the exit strategies?
Why?
Because the Palestinians are weak, and not in any position to sign a peace treaty. In fact. They can't.
It's a fact that Hamas controls Gaza, and Hamas policy is to "never" make peace with Israel.
Abbas can't sign a deal for the west bank only.
So why the talks?
I support direct negotiations. There is no other way to peace without a major war first.
However, I want to know what the endgame is: a framework that Abbas can present to the Palestinians and then go to elections? A separate peace that doesn't include Gaza?
Yes, we must demand that the Pals come to the table, but we also have to insist that they make sure that the deal will stick: lower corruption, increase confidence, and have elections that Fatah or other parties can indeed win at the expense of Hamas.

3. #1 I second that..."Negotiations" will have to wait...
til after the holy month of Ramadan. Perfect, by then Bibi's government of fanatics will be replaced by reasonable Israeli politicians just in time for the total construction freeze in West Bank including EJ.

5. Hmas is a teror organization
What is this nonsense to make negotiations and with a terrorist organization. Bibi Netanyahu you don't listen to your people needs, put a wall. Israel demands Gaza disengagement, no negotiations and Nonsense

6. Salma - the main difference isn't that...
I don't agree with you. We want negotiations for peace. The message we keep getting from the Palestinians is that you don't want negotiations - you want lots of concessions first and to avoid negotiating over the serious issues like refugees and Jerusalem.
We can disagree until we die and our children take over, and they can avoid it too.
Why? The only result of not negotiating is more death and suffering.
The only way you will get peace is to negotiate for it. So come to the peace talks, and tell the Americans to insist that the Israelis talk peace!
You sound like my 7 year old who gives lots of excuses why not to do homework...

8. Who is to blame?
"Hamas fully responsible for rockets fired from Gaza" Why is Hamas not afraid to cause harm? They do not see a Mighty Arm protecting Israel. Deuteronomy 28:1--When you keep all the laws HE SHALL SET YOU high above all other nations. So just who is to blame?

9. Brian, Salma and Nour
If any of you speak Hebrew could you verify if the claims of Dr. Stephen Scheinberg from Concordia University in Montreal are true? He links to a post on Youtube of a report from Channel 10 in Israel showing Bibi discussing the Oslo Accord. If this is true I am sure it will answer Brian's question, although I suspect you have known this all along Brian.
There must be a problem with my computer because anytime I have tried to post the link it vanishes in thin air.
