2. Barakah Hussein Obama was hostile to Israel before he was...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.03.10)
...elected to his position and there is no reason on earth why he would change his deep rooted negative attitude toward the nation-state of the Jewish people now. Obama's Charm Offensive and his supposed positive attitude lately exhibited toward Israel's prime minister are superficial moves, tactical ones, designed to achieve that which Obama set for himself to achieve, regardless of Israel's sense of security or lack thereof; regardless of Israel national and defense needs and rights. Israel is nothing but a plaything in Mr. Barakah Hussein Obama's hands, a game played to the tune of the music of such as Rashid Khalidi, Edward Said, Rev. J. Wright and Min. L.Farakhan. What we, Jews, within and without our nation-state of Israel should do is that which is in our strategic interests and rights, as a people and as a state who is sovereign to protect itself and it citizens. Mr. Barakah Hussein Hobama is not and has never been our savior...!!!
3. Fundamentally, Obama has been hostile
Gabe ,   New Jersey, USA   (08.03.10)
to Israel and this hostility is not likely to change any time soon.
4. An important fact, Obama should know
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.03.10)
that is Bibi Netanyahu doesn't like carrots sooooooooooo ....guess what ??!!
5. Direct talks are meaningless.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.03.10)
This article is superficial & based on a lot of unsupported assumptions, this is just re-hashed conventional wisdom, the blah, blah, blah that passes for serious thought among those who know just about nothing in the real world. Obama is not our friend & ally. A photo-op with Netanyahu has changed absolutely nothing. Similarly, Obama has NOT excerted pressure on Abbas - what concrete measures has he taken on the ground? None. There are no ''sticks'' - at least not for the Palestinians. What Obama has said is that he promises Abbas to use all the ''sticks'' on Netanyahu if there are direct talks. Some pressure! Anyway, direct talks will go nowhere fast. The truth is that no one cares anymore about a negotiated settlement. And, everyone knows that Abbas & Fatah are irrelevent. The direction this mess is headed is to a unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state accepting every Palestinian demand. Our interests will be totally ignored, even the ''right of return'' might be recognized. And this will be immediately accepted by the UN, the EU, & the US, as well as all the Arab/Muslim states. We will have no recourse. And, if this new, imposed state becomes a Hamas-dominated terrorist state, well, guess what? No one really cares. We are going to get screwed. Watch & see.
6. Stupid American Jews: Obama hussein stole your VOTES& MONEY!
Obama hussein is ,   a MUSLIM!   (08.03.10)
7. Gilboa does not get the point
Frank ,   Canada   (08.03.10)
Obama is not interested in peace, he wants to appease Arabs at Israel expense and redefine peace as the creation of a terror state at war with Israel.
8. The State Department, reportedly, now denies it put
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.03.10)
pressure upon Abbas to enter direct negotiations by cutting ties with the PLO. Obama, the man who "set under" Rev. Jeremy Wright for 20 years, can't bring himself to place any real pressure on any Muslim-Arab entity. He couldn't even bring himself to simple shake the hand of the king of Saudi Arabia; he, the President of the United States of America, felt he had to bow down before him, which he did during his visit to the Arabian Peninsula.
9. Israel should not be fooled
Brod ,   USA   (08.03.10)
The toxicity of AntiSemitism and Islamist-Jihadism is still there. And the person who imbibes Jeremiah Wright's toxin for 20 years is still the same person. Pamela Geller has penned a powerful Must Read book "The Post American Presidency" [2010] to document and warn about this. Beware.
10. The Palis read the Zionist press...we won!

11. Obama is as pro Israel as Bin Laden
DT ,   TA Israel   (08.03.10)
Anyhone who stopped to think otherwise should be considered certifiable
12. negotiations are meaningless
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (08.03.10)
Sadly, #5 Terry is right. The negotiations are and always have been a method of extracting Israeli concessions and giving nothing in return as Arafat always said. Both the Hamas and Fatah call for the extermination of the Jews, and Obama apparently supports them.
13.  obama "pro israel"?
OZ   (08.03.10)
now that's an insane notion... obama never was and never will be a pro israel president. in fact , at the end of the day, he'll makee j.carter look god in that resppect(and others , i must add). he is a radical post america soclaist, who dispises anything and everything america and israel stand for!
14. #12 Israel Israeli, Tel Aviv.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.03.10)
What is sad is that so many of our politicians & our elites support variations of a national suicide & I'm including the Netanyahu gov't. particularly Netanyahu's buddy, Ehud Barak. And then, consider the machinations of Kadima, Pres. Peres, conspiracy with both Obama & Fatah, national interest be damned. I'm disgusted with Israeli politics & politicians .....
15. The more things change, the more they remain the same
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (08.03.10)
Don't be fooled by Obama's latest "charm offensive" toward Israel. The underlying attitudes and policies remain the same. Obama is still advocating on behalf of the Palestinians, offering carrots, but no sticks. Israel is still being pressured to give up something real (e.g. continuing the freeze) in return for nothing of substance (the PA sitting in the same room as Israel). The US also pressured Israel to accept a UN investigation of the Turkish flotilla incident, despite earlier understandings on the matter.
16. Obama will do what ever it takes to get peace deal signed
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (08.03.10)
Obama is no fool and he has most the world backing him up now, included EU, Russia and Arab states and he alone controls US's UNSC vote, not Congress. Obama will used what ever pressure is needed on either side to get a peace deal, based closely on Roadmap and modified Saudi plan. Israel and PA get to work out the fine details but over all the main parts are already decided.
17. Bloodyscot #16
Brod ,   USA   (08.03.10)
Obama is NOT king of Israel. If Obama can't pressure Third World despots of such countries as Iran, Sudan, Burma, Saudi Arabia, Syria...what makes you think he can pressure a highly advanced country like Israel? Are you assuming Israel is a fool? What is wrong of Modern Israel being in their Ancient Land of Israel which is GOD-GIVEN and GOD-RESTORED? Only AntiSemite and Islamist-Jihadist Pagans led by Lucifer would have such a venom for Israel.
18. What Obama accomplished:

What would you call the Sinai Peninsula? G-d given and restored then given away? Fundamentalist Christianity or fundamentalist evangelicalism, Zionism and Islamic fundamentalism are the problems . Get a life in the G-d given??? and restored USA
20. In November, Obama will pound Israel again
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (08.03.10)
When elections are over in November, Obama will move against Israel again. He recently pressured Israel to accept a UN probe of the flotilla incident and promoted the idea of NATO troops replacing the IDF in the W. Bank. The only way to stop Obama is to vote 100 percent Republican in the upcoming election - from Senator to dogcatcher. Even if you never voted for a Republican in your entire life, if you care about Israel, hold your nose and just do it. The Democrat Party was taken over by the far left and put this marxist-Muslim in the White House. Democrats are doing nothing to stop Obama's anti-Israel agenda.

Republicans will win in November and replace the Leftists in the House. If Hussien crusades Jihadism on Israel by pressuring Israel, the American people will impeach him for undermining America's only reliable friend and ally in the Middle East and endangering America's national security in the region.
23. Obama supports Bibi? Gilboa is not of this world.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.04.10)
Gilboa says Obama now supports Bibi against Abbas. He is not of this world. Obama has never made a single solid demand on Abbas. In fact, the closest Obama came to pressuring Abbas was "threatening" to reduce pressure on Israel! Caroline Glick noted this in a recent JP article. Obama is the most hostile U.S. President Israel has ever faced. Hostility towards Israel oozes from every mideast policy he adopts.
24. Obama pressure on Israel or Palestinians
south Florida Jew ,   Boca Raton   (08.04.10)
Eytan, Your assessment of Obama is on point regarding the Israeli/Palestinian track. While catching a recent PBS nationally broadcast radio program in with a prominent African-American guest, even he related stories in the black community where Obama treated one of his own with disdain and in an abrasive manner. These people were confounded by the shoddy treatment. What I'm saying is that Obama might be "smooth" at the microphone but he isn't necessarily as nice as he appears in public, and one must be on guard at all times regarding his true, ultimate motives. Lack of humility and misunderstanding reality.....as with the Israeli/Palestinian track are a dangerous combination in this President.
