1. HE JUST CEDED LEBANON TO HEZBUL ON A SILVER PLATTER
stude ham   (08.03.10)
and listen to him talk about israel... what a moron.
2. Typical bravado barking from a coward Syrian puppet.
South Lebanon ,   is no human   (08.03.10)
"at whatever price..."? Well, he should check with the Southern Lebanese civilians about that. They will be the first to pay the price, just like in the past wars.
3. Resolution 1701 first and foremost calls upon Lebanon to...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.03.10)
...ensure that the area south of the Litani River is clear of weapons not belonging to the Lebanese army, yet, Hizballah has managed to flood the place with rockets and other weapons and to locate them inside people's homes, schools, medical clinics and mosques. 1701 also calls upon the government of Lebanon to prevent from Hizballah, now part of the government of Lebanon, from receiving any rockets and missiles from outside the country, yet all evidence demonstrate that Hizballah has been receiving such weapons from Iran via Syria in larger quantities they had had prior to the 2006 conflict. But one needs not even see the evidence to believe this is the case. Hizballah keeps announcing that they have more rockets and missiles and of better quality than that which they had before. Isn't it time the world said enough to the lies coming from north of Israel's border. And isn't it time the state of Lebanon were held responsible for that which is happening in its sovereign territory...!!
4. The interesting thing
Johnny ,   Nazareth   (08.03.10)
is that half (maybe more) of the Lebanese army are Shiia, that mean they are affiliated to Hizboullah. In other words the Shiia soldiers are loyal to Hizboullah (Iran) and not to Lebanon. So if two lebanese soldiers are shooting at the israeli soldiers, that means that surely one of them is Shiia Hizboullah loyalist, in other words Lebanon doesn't have an army, the only paramilitary entity in Lebanon is a terror organization which controls the country. The Lebanese Christians are ignorant of what is happening, busy with silly TV shows, singing and dancing, while Hizboullah in these years have become the real enemy of Lebanon. 40% (or more) of the Lebanese are loyal to Hizboullah and Iran but not to Lebanon. The turtle had won the race while the rabbit was asleep.
5. but it wasn't lebanese who shoot the rocket
ghostq   (08.03.10)
but since hizb r in the lebanese gov they should be held responsible for what the people in lebanon r doing, later they will discover it was palis who dragged entire country to war much like they tried to do during cast lead. I will say I told you so.
6. They think they won the last war
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.03.10)
Even though causality rate was over 10 to 1 in Israel favor(Israeal appox. 128; Lebanon appox. 1400). Damage to the countries infrastructure was $1.2 bil to Lebanon and about $18 mil to Israel. Lebanon...or should I say Hezbollah...lost all territory south of the Litani river. Nasrallah admitted he underestimated Israel's response. Yet like Saddam in Gulf War 1 saying he won "the mother of all wars". Now add to that Israel only committed appox. 20% of it's army. Of course Israel made mistakes, they learn from those mistakes, just as Hezbollah learned new ways to attack Israel. Israel was open and honest about their failures, Hezbollah by contrast lied about theirs. I hope there isn't a war, but if one does break out...judging by Lebanon's statements... they just lost the right to go to the UN, and beg the UN, to stop Israel. In the next war Israel won't stop until their done.
7. Too bad Suleiman does not stand up to Hezbollah violations
Joe ,   Canada   (08.03.10)
The military & political control that Hezbollah exercizes in Lebanon does not appear to president Suleiman worth to stand up to "whatever the price". Had he with other rational Lebanese found a way to oppose Hezbollah & prevent it to violate UN resolution 1701 from the start he would not have Lebanon in a position where it is a mere expandable tool of Iran through its Hezbollah surrogate. He should keep his bravado for the true ennemies of Lebanon independance in the north.
8. to johny they r also loyal to hamas.
ghostq   (08.03.10)
how do you think Hizbulla got to Egypt, in the last year there were many hizbulla suspects in Egypt, it's true the totalitarian find excuss to arrest innocent people in pretence but the majority r hizbulla and they don't like the idea of any negotiation, I think Nasralla is losing his grip in his org if he let a thing like that skip him, he just began to get full controll of lebanon. that includes the Druze and chritian areas.
9. Forget about the Lebanese Army
Marc ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.03.10)
Bring on Hizballa fighters to the south and have an all out war with the IDF . . . Once and for all, some1 has to finish what started in 2006
10. Border flare-up: pre planed by Lebanese/ Hebollah
john   (08.03.10)
What was the dead Lebanese journalist doing with the troops or Hesbollah , other then to cover a story the already planned attack on Israel?
11. #10 Good point, John
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (08.03.10)
12. #6 Amen
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (08.03.10)
13. Lebanese rhetoric is no different...
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (08.03.10)
...to that of Hezbollah and Hamas. with whom, it appears, they've cast their lot. Gloves off this time
14. Is Israel capable of standing up to UN /EU/World opinion ?
Alex   (08.03.10)
15. yeh ,yeh, yeh!
OZ   (08.03.10)
lebonon will be in ruins in less then 24 hours and this mockery ""president""talks tough.... stfu already!
16. Make sure..
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (08.03.10)
Just make sure that this time you will not leave business unfinished. At any price, he says, well so don't run the first day to New York to cry to "di interneshenel kamjuniti" to stop Israel.
17. Start the pr NOW!
avi ,   USA   (08.03.10)
Start loudly publicising Leb and Hiz. violations etc and our side of the story NOW. Why are we always silent, and then try to explain our side, after the fact
18. :: This is the result of Hariri meeting Assad 2 days ago
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (08.03.10)
They decided on heating up the border with Israel for their own political reasons and Hizbullah was only happy to oblige.
19. They make out that they are the innocent victims here ...
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (08.03.10)
but it;s Israel who is the victim under siege since it's rebirth 62 years ago. They make me sick. It's time for another Lebanon campaign to destroy hizbullah and Lebanon as hizbullah want as many Lebanese children dead as they can - for the sympathy vote. I really hope next time Israel shows ZERO RESTRAINT and razes the whole of Lebanon to ashes. Hizbullah rockets and mortar shells will be raining down on northern Israeli towns soon.
20. Huh?
Barka   (08.03.10)
Since when does Israel care about violations of UNSC resolutions? They ignore them all the time themselves
21. Pity the Poor Soldiers, But . . .
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (08.03.10)
IDF is always shooting Palestinians who come "too close to the fence," and it shoots Lebanese shepherds who come "too close to the fence." IDF does a lot of shooting across the border. Why is this different?
22. Nobody listens to these lies
Woody ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.03.10)
Hahah, yeah Israel was "trimming hedges" in Lebanon. Anyone with a cursory knowledge of the ongoing border disputes prior to '67 war are aware how Israel often would send a tractor into Syria to plow a field. The tractor would be shot at, Israel would shell in response. Syria would shell back, then Israel would use airplanes to bomb. No one in the WORLD, except for some Israelis and koolaid Zionists, think that Lebanon is to blame here. We've run out of political capital and this war could be our end.
23. The true story from a Lebanese witness
Joe ,   Canada   (08.04.10)
A Lebanese woman who was a direct witness of the events & was interviewed live on the BBC online radio service (3 august) provided the exact circumstances she observed for at least 2 hours. And while she was not sympathetic to Jews what she says matches the story told by the Isreali side. Soldiers came to cut a tree &/or bushes. The Lebanese protested to the UNIFIL & told them them they were going to fire supposedly warning shots. The Israeli after stopping their clearing work for a few minutes, resumed it & the shooting resumed from the Lebanon side. She agreed the first shots were fired by Lebanese. When asked if the Israelis were on Lebanese soil, she answered that the border in this area is uncertain. So it is clear that a bloody provocation was started for the meager pretext of a tree cutting. In 2006 the kidnapping & killing of "only" two Israelis by Hezbollah started a major conflict . And now we have again a similar wild play by the Lebanese with a potential for a much wider conflict since it would not be limited to beating Hezbollah but all its supporters in the Lebanese army.
24. legacy
Himler ,   Germany   (08.04.10)
The dark legacy of nazists is continuing. israel needs pretext for getting new water resources. Similar to excuses of the national socialist party in Germany from 1933
25. As usual Israel has claimed permanent victim status...
WEISS ,   USA   (08.04.10)
It is unable to admit that it has EVER made a MISTAKE...EVER. This ARROGANT COMPLETE DENIAL of REALITY will lead to further ISOLATION from the international community...
26. Wow
elmysterio ,   canada   (08.04.10)
Lots of hate speech going on here. Frankly wtf is wrong with you people?
