61. prepare for construction
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (08.03.10)
I guess Nassrallah is bored. And living a normal life is obviously is not in the interest of his people. You build Beirut back very nicely. I guess you have to do it again. Good buy Beirut!! Too bad only innocent people are going to die. It's so sad. i have so many friends there.
62. Olmert, Livni's great idea to have lebanese army at border
jason ,   haifa israel   (08.03.10)
Great job olmert who wanted them to come down.
63. Livni's 1701 resolution which brought lebanon army to border
jason ,   haifa israel   (08.03.10)
Even though the army and hezbollah worked together during the war and the army is shia dominated and works with hezbollah.
64. TO MEG, JEAN LEBANON
Joao - BRAZIL ,   Araraquara   (08.03.10)
For those who are buying the Hizbulistan story about Israel´s overpassing the fence: such a sensitive border requires a buffer zone. It would be ridiculous to believe that a simple fence, like a domestic wall separating two neighbours house exist there. That fence marks the beggining of a buffer zone and after it there is more Israeli territory until the real border. Lebanese shot Israelis while they were in their territory in the buffer zone. A clear provocation. All Lebanese hate Israel and all of them are now identified with Hizullah. Israel has a moral obligatio to answer to this provocation.

You are PERE ADAM.IN 2006 your coward hizbollah were hiding with the civilians,in mosques, hospitals, and with children.I will really call them children and not fighters. If they are really BRAVE as you think let them come out in the battlefield and we will see who will win. Dont say to the whole world with your cry ISRAEL USING EXCESSIVE FORCE.BRAVE PEOPLE DONT CRY

67. #53 Iran#1 - 2006 defeat.
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (08.03.10)
Why was Lebanon crying like little babies for Israel to agree to ceasefire and were'nt even able to set even one boot inside Israel? Truth be told, the Arabs/Muslims have never defeated Israel, although it's not for want of trying.
68. Lebanon is courting a war
T. Traub ,   USA   (08.03.10)
What were these clueless Lebanese thugs-in-uniform planning to accomplish by shooting at men across the fence? Did they expect that they could just murder a few Jews and get away with it? A little recreational target practice to liven up their day? The Lebanese should be ashamed of themselves. Once the pearl of the Mediterranean, the Paris of the Middle East, they have degenerated to the level of criminals and cavemen beating their chests and screaming for blood. The Lebanese refuse to recognize Israel or maintain diplomatic relations with them; they host the most murderous terrorists such as that Hamas guy who was assassinated a couple of years ago, and the whole Hezbollah crime syndicate which in their cowardice they have allowed to take over their country. Israel is going to need to reoccupy southern Lebanon, unfortunately. When Lebanon allowed Iran to basically equip an army right on Israel's doorstep, this has become an inevitability.

Since Zionism is the national movement of the Jewish people, and I would venture that you would support the national movement of all OTHER people, you are by definition an anti-Semite. By the way, what the hell is a good, moderate Jewish friend? One who agrees with you? One who hates or disavows his heritage? One who will do anything to be accepted by the likes of you? Just what exactly is it?
71. Time to get back to the basics, Israelis
Cameron ,   USA   (08.03.10)
The Leb boys learned a thing or two during those years of coming at you in S. Lebanon. Troops on the ground always seal the deal. Too much reliance on jets and helicopters these days.
72. To the Jew-haters posting on this site...
NoPatienceForIdiots ,   Syosset NY   (08.03.10)
I can't stand hearing the tripe that flows from your refuse laden minds. Sitting behind your computer screens in comfort and security while Hezbollah ambushes and attacks. You and your ilk will never admit that Israel is baited into these situations and forced to respond for it's own security, no matter how justified.
73. Stop violating Lebanese land/airspace
Truth Teller ,   USA   (08.03.10)
Israeli troops crossed into a Lebanese territory to cut trees and install security cameras after their demands to do so were rejected TWICE. The Lebanese army was doing what any army should do: DEFEND its land. They should also buy anti-aircraft weapons and fire at Israeli planes that violate Lebanese airspace on a daily basis.
74. To 60 - Lets do some basic thinking!
The Dude   (08.03.10)
"Why Are Israeli Soldiers Not Walking On Northern Side Of Fence As They Trim Trees? The photograph I've seen shows an Israeli soldier suspended from a bucket-lift so as to keep him from having to set foot on the ground. " Maybe he is trimming the top branches? Maybe it's easier for him to use the vehicle to get on the other side because this could be the mid point between gates and it would be annoying to walk a few kilometers when you just bring a machine? Maybe to avoid cutting the fence? So this implies nothing. "Also the Lebanese have repeatedly complained to the UN that the Israelis were contructing fences on the border on the Lebanese side." And? The IDF coordinated this action with UNIFIL well in advance which definitely informed the LAF earlier. If they had wanted too, they could have complained about this and then sent UNIFIL. Not a sniper team to specifically target the commanding officer... " If this was Israeli territory then why are the Israelis asking permission of the Lebanese to cut trees on their own land? " Maybe so the Lebanese don't think this is a sudden out of the blue attack but just basic maintenance? Also so they know why a large contingent of soldiers are coming to the border not just randomly? "Something doesn't ring true about Israeli claims. " You mean that Israel said it was going to do basic maintenance a few days in advance and then does it with clear advance warning. And then a sniper attack occurs? What rings untrue is that Israel was stupid to inform Hizb'allah of it's movements so it could prepare an ambush. "The fact of the matter is the Israeli military frequently probes and violates the Lebanese border." And the Lebanese frequently smuggle HUGE amount of weapons.... "Why would anyone want to live or bring up children in a place where violence is considered the answer to all problems?" Yes I agree, the Lebanese and Palestinians should leave quickly.
75. UN Forces?
Carsten Schmidt ,   Germany   (08.03.10)
The attention should be towards the conduct of the UN forces. News articles say the crossing of the fence was coordinated with UNIFIL, and other news articles say that the incident was an ambush. What is the role the UNIFIL is playing here...?!
76. #4 You are an ignoramus
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (08.03.10)
If you were an objective person who knows his history, you wouldn't post such tripe...and btw ...yes, the label suits you to a tee.
77. it's time to read Jean
Jone ,   NY   (08.03.10)
The IDF have not put even one leg in Lebanon, the act of cutting a tree is not supporting the use of snipers for killing! The UN could do that, but they were sleeping, Lebanon's army could do that but they couldn't care... one tree! only one tree!
78. for sure preplanned if there was a journalist present
(08.03.10)
by the lebenese, as it says a journalist was killed. How did he get there so fast?
79. this is confusing!
Dino Domingo ,   Vancouver, Canada   (08.03.10)
look at the 4th picture to understand where the IDF were. It shouws the Israeli on the other side of the fence... I am not sure if this is legal but it looks very strange that he was hanging over a fence: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/gallery/2010/08/03/GA2010080303465.html
80. Lebanon
Gary   (08.03.10)
This tree-trimming was coordinated with Lebanon. In the last few days, we have been attacked in Eilat (hit Aqaba instead), Ashkelon with a Grad missile, and now this. It seems that the extremist Arabs cannot accept direct talks and peace prospects. What would they do for a living?

Wow you amaze me! This is proof of how gullible people can be.... Can you at least backup some of your arguments? Btw, congrats on the creativity

Zen ,   UK   (08.03.10)
Next time anyone hits Israel, flatten the entire area. Kill anything that moves. For five hundred miles around Israel. Make me Prime Minister I will happily take responsibility and let the world court execute me as a criminal, in return. Problem solved. If anyone attacks after that my brother will become Prime Minister take responsibility for killing anything in a one thousand mile radius. Rinse repeat.
84. 1) My condolensces... 2) Fire the military staff, so inept

85. Grow up, Nate, and learn some history.
sdunc ,   US   (08.03.10)
I guess the rockets near the Red Sea and rockets from Gaza were also provoked by Israel? We all knew it would start soon and be instigated by Iran/Syria.
86. You pays your money...
Lynne ,   Holzheim, Germany   (08.03.10)
..you takes your chances If you illegally cross into Lebanon and start a fire fight you are going to get burnt. Israel should apologise for this incursion into Lebanon and pay compensation to the family of the reporter they killed.

89. Ahmadinejad predicted this
IRAN#1   (08.03.10)
Last week in a speech he said he ahd information that Israel+USA are planning to attack 2 middle east countries. Well this is one the first one the second one is a surprise, it's not Syria as you might think, it's Yemen. At any rate, as Netanyahu and his staff keep barking at Iran, Ahmadinejad and his satff will keep you busy with the juniors.
90. How come?
Mike ,   USA/Australia   (08.03.10)
How come every time the IDF go into Lebanon they get their asses kicked? And what are soldiers going cutting hedges or trees anyway? If you ask me they should have turned back when they were ordered to.
