jacob ,   encino, ca   (08.04.10)
They knew you were coming for the trees, they knew they had to ask you to stop what you're doing, they knew you might act like jerks as you usually do. I would have brought a camera too. Your bullying days i think are almost over. You better watch out.
3. attacks

Hakim ,   Palestine   (08.04.10)
about?? If your innocent everything should be caught on tape? Sad People...
5. The snipers had targeted the senior rank officer. This alone
Bat Zion ,   Centre, Israel   (08.04.10)
is proof that it was a planned ambush.
6. no.2 and 4
Farfurfan ,   farfurstan   (08.04.10)
The tree is in the Israeli territory. Look at the photos. Think. Now repeat: the tree is in the Israeli territory. Lebanese snipers shot Israeli officers in cold blood on Israeli territory (the fence is over a hundred meters from the border, and the officers shot were two hundred meters from the fence). Lebanese army paid for it. It will pay even more next time, lies and slander notwithstanding. Case closed, losers!
7. 2 Words
Tony ,   USA   (08.04.10)
Legitimate targets. If you work for the Lebanese "media" you're toast if you ever come near the border with Israel.
8. jacob-r you stupid?
js ,   ny,ny   (08.04.10)
hey if the Lebanese soldiers admitted to firing first and UNIFIL said that Israel's actions did not warrant any response (Israel also got permission to cut down the trees from UNIFIL beforehand) i think its fair to say we can believe Israel on this one...unless you refuse to look at each case individually and you just always assume Israel is in the wrong...please try to be intellectually honest next t
9. The tree is in the Lebanese side...ask the UN
Ali ,   South Lebanon   (08.04.10)
who interfered and tried to convince the israelis that israel does not extend all over the world!...and THATS WHY THE CAMERA's where there. not to mention that Ali Shoeib (Al Manar Reporter) is a resident of Aadayseh which explains the rapid response of Lebanese media. the Lebanese soldiers where bombed in their vehicle hundreds of meters away from the clashes ...Al Taybeh village. SEE THE MAPS. NOW REPEAT. Israel is a cold blooded murder
10. Jacob...support israel blindly...be intellectual
Ali ,   South Lebanon   (08.04.10)
The UNFIL has not authority at all on South Lebanon other than supporting the Lebanese army...refer to resolution 1701.. Lebanese army fired first and will fire AGAIN upon any incursion of the israelis.. Case Closed.
11. Everyone is a LEGITIMATE TARGET for israel!?!? huh?
Ali ,   South Lebanon   (08.04.10)
12. IDF killed a journalist
Sebastian ,   Europe   (08.04.10)
Killing a journalist is a crime against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights article 19, which states: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." Once again Israel committed this crime. The international organization Reporters Without Borders ranked Lebanon on place 61, and Israel on place 93 in their 2009 worldwide Press Freedom Index. The decline of freedom of the press has been going on for years in Israel.
13. TO ALI - SOUTH LEBANON
Alexandre Augusto ,   Sao Paulo   (08.04.10)
Ali, after the fence, there's a buffer zone and still Israeli territory. Or do you think a complicated area would have a mere fence dividing two areas, like normal neighbours? You are buying Hizbulla's story, as the rest, all Lebanon. They prepared this to ambush Israelis. They are desperate to create a scene to divert attention from Iran and Hariri report. Lebanon, ops, Hibulistan is not a free country anymore. It is just a poor, miserable colony of the Iranians. I fell pity of you.
14. @ Ali
jules ,   Florence   (08.04.10)
Ali stop the hate. Stop it. 800,000,000 arabs below the poverty line, dictatorships everywhere, Sarkozy starting to think to take back citizenship to people of foreign origin, who do you think those people are in France, the Austrians? No, the arabs, that claim, claim all the time and give nothing in return. Israel doesn't want to harm you ok? Leave it. You would rather get 1000 people killed just to make the point of Israel being bloody. Open the history books, arabs are not an example for peace, while they can make a change and opt for a better future. Don't let integralists screw your mind. Choose a solid economy, a secular life, freedom for all sectors of society. Playing with religion might bring you again under Siria, and if you ask your grandfather those times weren't fun. Put the hate behind your back, Lebanon was a secular western country, now it's a colony of Iran. Leave Israel alone, arabs are poor everywhere not only at israeli borders, and the rich ones are friends of the US, Europe and Israel. You can make peace like Jordan and Egypt did, it will be good for all. Let's hope for peace, non need to start a war for a tree, 5 dead are enough.
15. Briefing for those who were fed lies by certain biased media
Bat Zion ,   Centre, Israel   (08.04.10)
Lebanese Army shot first. I repeat. shot first, at Israeli soldiers who were inside Israeli territory. IDF has coordinated their gardening activity with the UN. The area said is in Israeli territory, and the Lebanese sniper had shot a high-rank officer standing 100 metres off the International Border, inside Israeli territory, not the soldiers who were close to the fence.
16. # 12 Sebastian, the UN has a job for you
Truth Hertz ,   UK   (08.04.10)
So once again we have the verdict before the 'trial'. At this rate, you could be on the next UN investigation panel, Sebastian. Sebastian states that Israel has committed a crime by killing a journalist. However, he has not mentioned having any evidence that IDF troops deliberately targeted the journalist or were even careless in their targeting. This journalist was apparently with a group of soldiers that had just launched a cross-border attack against Israeli troops and were bound to come under fire in response. But of course, this sort of detail would not concern Sebastian because he had no doubt reached his conclusion before the incident even took place and was just waiting for something to apply his verdict too.
17. Non-combatants?
Brent ,   San Antonio, US   (08.04.10)
Sebastian, what kind of world do you live in? Do you honestly think that actions can be so discriminate that only the intended participants get involved? War is hell, to quote General Sherman, US Army Civil War. If you are present where bombs and bullets will possibly be used, then you increase the probability that one of those might, either by accident or design, find you. To expect otherwise is to be out of touch with reality which perhaps you are!
18. Ali
js ,   ny,ny   (08.04.10)
unfortunately Israel never crossed the Lebanese boarder...all work that was done by them ie. the trimming of the tree was 100% internationally legal...soo the israelis never committed any "incursion" as you said into Lebanese territory...EVEN IF Israel did cross the boarder it only would have been accidentally because they were cutting down a tree, if that was the case the Lebanese army should have fired warning shots at the soldiers who crossed the boarder not a well placed sniper rifle round to an observation post within Israeli territory...now after the first bullet was fired and Israel responded with shelling and air support against the Lebanese soldiers you are taking a risk as a non-combatant being on the front lines...not everyone is a legitimate target but you take that risk yourself by placing yourself there...if three Lebanese soldiers are shooting towards an enemy and a reporter is standing next to them and a shell lands in the middle and kills all four as sad as that is, it does not qualify as intentionally targeting a civilian/journalist (therefore it does not violate universal declaration of Human right article 19 as Sebastian says it did...) although it is a morally shady decision....
19.  Good! Sebastian - wants war crimes trials for Pal leaders
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.04.10)
Sebastian is such a good citizen of the world for pointing out that nobody should shoot journalists who are standing beside soldiers who open fire. Thanks, Sebastian, for your cogent observation. Since Sebastian obviously supports universal human rights and he demands justice for war crimes, I'm sure he'll sign his name to a petition calling for the war crimes trials of Palestinian leaders. Since the following rings true for the northern border, Sebastian should also support war crimes trials for Hezbollah leaders too. Sebastian can't argue with Amnesty International: "Whether or not attacks actually result in civilian casualties, they are in violation of international law, which also prohibits attacks aimed at spreading terror among the civilian population. The patterns of attacks and statements by members and leaders of Palestinian groups also indicate that they have no qualms about launching attacks against civilians and that they in fact carry out such attacks intending to kill and injure Israeli civilians. Such attacks constitute war crimes." Amnesty International report:ISRAEL/GAZA OPERATION ‘CAST LEAD’:22 DAYS OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION July 2, 2009
20. #9, people did ask the UN
Danny   (08.04.10)
and the UN confirmed Israel's statement.
21. Hakim u gona visit Ali soon! in Hezaballastan
Rehavam ,   Israel   (08.04.10)
Ali u gona love Hakim! you children children gona have fun in best country in the world! Hezballastan.
22. so were other directly targeted journalists?
observer   (08.04.10)
but, he wasn't tipped that the IDF targets only the unarmed.
23. #2, #4 - still doesn't disprove Israel's claim
William ,   Israel   (08.04.10)
The entire situation was pre-planned and provoked by the LAF. However, things have changed. Now the video being shot by Arabs hoping it can be doctored and accepted by the media blindly is being used to prove their guilt, just like on the Turkish flotilla. Ooops.
24. #9 - When did the UN say the tree was in Lebanon?
William ,   Israel   (08.04.10)
Please post a link or cite a reference. Otherwise, I tend to believe UNIFIL which stated the tree is inside Israel and the IDF's actions did not justify the war crimes of LAF. Enjoy your alternate reality.
25. #11 - if you support the "resistance" and terrorism, yeah
William ,   Israel   (08.04.10)
I believe that's justified under the Geneva Convention. You know - the one Arabs love to wave in front of the UN but break it repeatedly?
26. #12 - journalist wasn't killed for expressing his opinion
William ,   Israel   (08.04.10)
Nice try though. Why not read the article and see that the journalist was embedded in the LAF which launched an unprovoked cross-border attack on the IDF. Curious - are you willing to extend that accusation to Al-Qaeda and Iraqis who murdered many journalists embedded with NATO forces, and a Mr. Daniel Pearl?
27. jacob..you should really move from encino
Christopher ,   Boston, MASS   (08.04.10)
Your days of collecting welfare under BHO's socialist state are almost over. Soon, you will have to work for a living and not have time to blame the Jews for all your ills. Sorry about your glory days of selling rancid oranges by the I5 exit ramps are over.
28. Israel should have gotten all of them
billie nellie ,   wilson nc usa   (08.06.10)
That reporter had no damn business there.he was at a staged site and should have known the consequences of being there. israel had every right to retaliate. It is a shame israel didn't kill more of them. i wish they would have wiped out the whole damn crowd.
29. IDF: Journalists were tipped off
Willem ,   Den Helder, Holland   (08.06.10)
It's tactic, provoke incidents in a way Israël must use force, photograph or(better) film it and then cry in the global media. Even more shocking incidents how better it is for the Hamas/Hizbollah etc. terrorists. IDF don't give in.
