First of all they should have never approved a mosque blocks away from the WTC. It's just one of those things whose only purpose is to create problems. It's like no we don't need more problems.
2. since when posters need aproval
ghostq   (08.10.10)
this is limiting freedom of speach just so Muslims will get away with things. this is stupid.
3. Masjaed in ground zero means
atmawi ,   Historic Palestine   (08.10.10)
Islam is not related to terror acts like the one in Twin Towers, I do not see why othres do not agree?
4. Insensitive?
Daniel   (08.10.10)
The extremists who are paying for these advertisements claim to care about the feelings of families of 9/11 victims. But which hurts more? A Muslim community center not in sight of or on the way to the WTC site, or pictures of the burning towers plastered on buses all over the city? Hypocrites.
5. This is about tolerance, thats why Gay Bars should be
The Dude   (08.10.10)
built all around this new mega-mosque. With strip clubs and 'escorts' specifically required to walk that street. The gay pride parade and feminists rallies should be directed on that street. And the blowing of the Shofar should also be done whenever recommended by Jewish law. Nativity scenes should also adorn the sidewalk right in front of the mosque aswell. This is about tolerance, a liberal society, and accepting others. What better way to show this is not only building a mosque near twin tower site, but also putting homosexuals, strippers, Jewish events, Christian events, and feminist events all at the same place! Obviously the mega mosque builders should have NO PROBLEM with this also being built besides their mosque in the name of inter-faith and atheist-religious dialogue!

Unfortunately for you the people who attacked and destroyed the twin towers under my watching eyes ( I was only a few blocks away at 180 maiden lane that day) are all Muslims and the organization behind them The Al kaida with its leader Bin Ladin admitted to doing it in the name of Islam. You may be a good, peaceful Muslim unlike Bin Ladin but the fact is that some Muslims are not tolerant. Having said that, personally I do not see any rason why that Islamic Center and Masjid should not be built a few blocks away from the site however there are many who oppose and it is understandable. If Islam is really the religion of peace and tolerance then wouldn't it be good for the sake of peace to find a location a little bit north (maybe 5 -6 blocks) instead of forcing the demands to build it in such a sensitive area? After all there is a huge mosque in NY at 3rd avenue and 96 th street as well as a big Islamic center and school on Queens Boulevard in Queens, plus many small Masjids all over NY, Brooklyn, Flushing, Newark, Jersey city etc.
7. #4 - don't be "holier than thou" Daniel
William ,   Israel   (08.10.10)
It's obvious where your sentiments lie, but don't try to hide behind false modesty or sensibilities in order to justify your points. Attacking this group for using the 9/11 imagery is ridiculous because this same imagery has been used all over the country for various things. To slam this group for using it is simply discriminatory.
8. #3: You Are Not Israeli Nor Jewish
emanon ,   USA   (08.10.10)
Historically, Palestine and Israel are the same country. Get over it.

You don't know? Allow me to enlighten you. 1. Who invaded the United States Embassy in Tehran and took hostages which were kep for many years under horrendous circumstances? Answer: Moslems 2. Who hijacked planes across the Middle East and Europe and terrified passengers -- many of them with heart conditions -- and blew up some of those very valuable planes? Answer: Moslems. 3. Who was responsible for the destruction of the United States Embassy in Beirut and the Marine Barracks in Beirut, at the cost of the lives of 241 United States servicemen? Answer: Moslems 4. Who was responsible for the destruction of the United States Embassy in Kinshasa, with great loss of life and injury? Answer: Moslems 5. Who was responsible for the destruction of the United States Embassy in Nairobi, with great loss of life and injury. Answer: Moslems 6. Who was responsible for the suicide attack on the USS COLE while she was at anchorage in Aden? Answer: Moslems 7. Who was responsible for the destruction of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, which was where many United States servicemen were housed? Answer: Moslems 8. Who was responsible for the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York with huge loss of life? Answer: Moslems 9. Who was responsible for the damage incurred at the Pentagon, which also resulted in much loss of life and devastating injury? Answer: Moslems 10. Who was responsible for hijacking a third plane and whose evil intent was narrowly averted through the sheer bravery of the passengers? Answer: Moslems And that's just the United States. We can chat about nightclubs in Bali, beaches in Sydney, trains in Spain, the London tube and you really don't want me to start in about the sheer and incredible scale of acts of terror perpetrated against Jews and Israelis by -- you guessed it -- Moslems. So I trust you will understand if the civilized world considers you evil barbarians. You've certainly proven your primitive violent nature often enough -- and the world is pretty sick of you. Sorry. If that offends you, perhaps you should work to change the vile aspects of your religion. Or convert to a belief system less violent than Islam. The foregoing litany is a mere drop in the bucket. Islam is violent. There is no getting around the facts.
10. MIXING TRUTHS WITH LIES
Lengualima ,   USAGBFR   (08.11.10)
Mixing truth with lies! a wise man once said "when mix truth with a lie, will not yield a truth, or half truth and half lies, but a huge lie. "This is the reasoning that is being applied to the case of the construction of the mosque at Ground Zero. who is talking about freedom of expression or religious. someone said something against the right of Muslims to practice the religion they choose. Think it's not fair to the deceased and their families this work so close which killed 3000 people have something to do with religious freedom. Are there not many mosques in the U.S.?. The territory of the United States has more than 8 million km2, why build a mosque 200 meters away from the tragedy?. Like it or not, were Muslims with a radical vision of life who crashed planes toppled the towers and attacked the Pentagono. If you build a mosque 200 meters from the scene of the tragedy is not another name for provocation or a big lie.

12. Each Side's Rights Are Upheld
Christy ,   Boston, US   (08.13.10)
The right of the mosque builders to purchase land and build a mosque near Ground Zero, although one of the most insensitive moves by any group, has been upheld. This is good. Except for zoning problems, government has no right to deny a religion to build a place of worship. I'm glad the right of free speech, for those opposed to this mosque, is being upheld as well. I expect we'll see more instances of free speech like this from those opposed. Building this mosque near Ground Zero is a very bad PR move for Islam. It will only serve to keep wounds raw and remind people about the religious beliefs, although very radical, of the 9/11 murderers. I'd like to know who is providing the money for this mosque.
