31. The real army
Mike ,   Johannesburg   (08.11.10)
One day Israel is going to be isolated by the world , but this day will be different imagine for a moment that journo`s from the BBC and CNN will be captured by radicals , but these are different they will be Jewish , the journo`s will be beheaded and there images shown around the world , latter the brutal killings of individuals and especially Jews that are raically left . Arabs in Israel are randomly killed , UN offices are bombed. These Jewish radicals will team up with Christian nationalists who could start a campaign of terror in the west. Natrally the world in its hypocracy will want war with Israel , just remember Israel has a massive nuclear arsenal........ It makes one think doesn`t it !!!! Heaven help us , the world must understand the Samson complex is alive and well in Israel !!!!!!!
32. soli, you antisemitic maniac...
Dana Rothschild ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.11.10)
you of course don't have a real pictures of bombed buses and restaurants in Israel, do you? back off Israel and get a life dude....
33. #3 Sagi, great point about lies
Eitan ,   Chicago   (08.11.10)
Most aboriginal and autochthonous (meaning culture that originated in the nation's area of residence) peoples have creation myths to explain their origins, but are not necessarily taken literally. While it's unclear whether there was an expulsion or exodus from Egypt, or both, the legends and tall tales of the Torah are often backed up by the archeological record, by stelae and chronicles of neighboring countries. There aren't too many creation myths among aboriginal peoples that begin, "Your god decided he doesn't like you, so he's our god now" (Christianity), or "Your prophets were always ours, even before we existed" (Islam). Only political movements and wanton forgeries would made such a ridiculous claim, and only the illiterate or ignorant would find solace in these falsehoods.
34. Idealists never won wars or peace
Zionist forever   (08.11.10)
The world will never accept Israel no matter what it does and appeasement will rightly be seen by our enemis as weakness and abused to keep demanding more concessions from Israel. In the west the the whole concept of a Jewish state is something they don't like. They want to see a weak Israel where religion is something kept behind closed doors and there Is no room for at a state level especially the liberal Europeans. They see Israel as being built on palestinians land and in 1948 Israel attacked all the arabs and marched them out at gun point. Nobody is interested in the fact 5 arab armies invaded and the bulk of the arabs left of their own choice. All they care about is the poor old Palestinians. If every member of that flotilla were carrying guns and explosives the only people who would interest the outside world were the dead passengers and the Israeli soldiers they would want punished. If we act as the appeasers we would give the palestians a state and then they would see how weak Israel was and they would come back for more and because we are obsessed with image we would give them what they want. Strengh gets you respect fear but people just don't like you for it. Appeasment makes people like you a little more but nobody respects you and it eventually get you killed.
35. To nr 18 - What is "fair" peace?
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv   (08.11.10)
What is "fair" peace? That non Jews live in freedom and can dance on our graves? A world without Jews and Israel? A world in which all peoples are free, independent and sovereign and can live in freedom and prosperity with the exception of the Jews? Rewriting 4000 years of Jewish history in Israel and claiming that 22 years of Arab imperialist dominion in Israel in the 7th cent AD suddenly gives Arabs the right to my land? Has the world acted fairly against the Jews for the past 2000 years? Did the Romans, the Greeks, the Persians, the Arabs, the Babylonians, the Assyrians and the Egyptians act fairly when they invaded and occupied our land for centuries? Who made you the judge of men? Stick to your own business and get your nose out of ours. Your opinion has no value, no importance, no authority and no legitimacy. Our right to our land and our right to our existence are a matter of course - it's not a matter of discussion or debate. Anyone attacking our natural rights will pay with his life. And a fair peace is: ALL of Israel is ours, every grain of sand of it, no mosques or churches in the Old City of King David of Israel, no Al Aqsa mosque, no Arabs and no Moslems in Israel. Instead, 90-95% of Israel's population should be Jewish, the Temple should be rebuild, Israel's territory, borders, air space and waters must include Gaza, Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and the Golan WITHOUT Moslems and Arabs, where we Jews enjoy a complete and total control over our land, territory, borders, air space, waters, capital, parliament, supreme court, government, intelligence agencies, army, navy, air force, universities, institutions where we Jews dominate the country completely in terms of demography, economy, culture, science, technology, politics, military strength and power, with complete and total control to act de facto as a sovereign/independent state acting exactly in accordance with our wishes in our land without our nations interfering or trying to destroy us with boycotts, isolation, demographic warfare, terrorism and rockets, where we live on one side of the border and our neighbors on the other side of the border, EAST to the Jordan River, where we live within defensible borders in safety, security, freedom and prosperity where we can live, work, study, raise families, get married, construct homes, conduct research and conduct trade exactly where we wish in our land without anyone telling us what to do - that is genuine peace. I decide what is fair peace - not you. Israel will treat is neighbours and the rest of the world fairly when you treat us fairly. Not before. We decide what is fair - not you anti-Semites. Ooops! You are not anti-Semitic. You are just critical of Israel - because we are Jews. You also hate the Jews - but you are not anti-Semitic. You are simply a Jew hater...
36. A better idea
SAm ,   New York   (08.11.10)
Wouldn't it better and cheaper to mobilize the Jewish scientific establishment throughout the world to find a cure for cancer, or Alzheimers, or some other such deadly malady, and then only offer treatment to friends of Israel? Alternatively, wouldn't it make practical sense to use all that Jewish wealth to acquire a nice chunk of land from Australia or Africa, or from New Guinea, and move there altogether, all 15 million or so of us. The hell with the historic Land of Israel - the Arabs will never be satisfied. In the Arab mind humiliation can only be erased by blood, even if it takes 1000 years. Who needs to live next to such primitives for 1000 years? We can always build the Third Temple,no?
37. Response to #1, Eitan
RC ,   USA   (08.12.10)
Eitan quit bashing the Christians which are probably the only real friends Israel have. Even though we disagree on some things in religion, I for one know there is a reason why you and a lot of other Israelis do not believe in Jesus Christ (Yahushua) and that reason is explained in the Bible, although many Christians do not realize this fact and might look at the Jews with contempt just as you seem to look at others with contempt. Believe me when I tell you that we are not the enemy. If you study the Old and New testaments Israel’s enemies are pointed out. In the future Israel is going to need all the help it can get against the Islamic onslaught that will be coming against it. There are some true Christians that along with YHWH the Almighty God of Israel will protect Israel because like it or not or believe it or not we are the wild branch that has been grafted in, so we are a part of Israel in spirit. In all religions and throughout the world there are good people and there are bad people. Because of my faith I am not ashamed or afraid to proclaim the name of my Elohim which is Yahuwah, and because of that though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil. Shalom.
38. 22 - i like the way you start your talkback
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.12.10)
sounds like a greatest-hits of the paqid hatefest we see around here. you almost sound like you are dismayed about the name-calling and divisions, mr intolerant. start practicing what you preach, if you are suddenly all about unity that is. too bad the internet preserves a history of your hatred as a testimony to your divide-and-destroy polemics.
39. #15 The environment and the...
Soeren ,   Cologne/Germany   (08.12.10)
... circumstances are definetely not comparable: Germany is surrounded only by friends and non-aggressive states and furthermore protected by an Europe-encompassing American security umbrella. Sorry, but your proposal is naive. Nevertheless, of course, it's fine that our country is seen so positive. When it comes to the article I think that a new "body" or organization for countering the de-legitimization would be pure waste of money – as it would be rejected outright as "manipulative" and "propaganda tool". Far more better in my opinion is the "molecules"- approach. Add then regular invitations for open-minded background talks between journalists (from Israel and Germany, for example) or between scientists or teachers from both countries – maybe inside the Israeli embassy – and you may foster at least some form of understanding among "multiplikators": What does not mean that they necessarily defend an Israeli interest-driven government policy... More can't be done, in my opinion...
40. Response to # 36 SAm
RC ,   USA   (08.12.10)
Sam it seems that you do not get it. The Islamist and those that hate the “Jews” will not let up on the idea that exterminating you will cure the problems of the world. Some of those people if you have not noticed yet teach their children to hate the Jews at a very young age. It is not about land it is about your existence. The Koran orders Muslims to not take Jews or Christians as friends and the radical Islamist use the Koran to spread the hate against us. The New Testament says that Christians should spread the good news of the Gospel pertaining salvation; it does not command us to coerce anyone to Christianity, although some would like to interpret it that way. As the religion of Islam grows and spreads around the world it will only get worse because of what is written in the Koran. They are instructed to not take Jews and Christians as friends and that they are to submit the world to Islam. Unfortunately radical Muslim hate for Jews is not going to just go away. Because Israelites are the chosen people to bring light to the world Satan hates Israel the worst. Your stiff necked ways that the Tanach describes does not make it any easier; neither do the writings in the Talmud. Shalom.

Who told you that there's missiles storage ? What do you call missiles you mean quassams ? Falling gutters in Brooklyn kill more people each winter than those "missiles" in last decade.
43. Israel Needs A Spirit of Generosity, not a new P.R. unit
Rabbi Michael Lerner ,   San Francisco, USA   (08.19.10)
The only protection from delegitimation is for Israel to close the gap between its rhetoric of being "the only democracy" and its reality of systematic denial of human rights abuses in enforcing the Occupation and the blockade of Gaza, while defacto ruling over several million Palestinians. The mean-spirited way people talk about "the other" (whether that be fellow Jews with whom they disagree, Palestinians, Europeans, 'goyim' or the rest of the people of the world, and which infuses social and political policy, and which I experienced as part of the culture of Israel in the years that I lived there, is experienced by the rest of the world as arrogance and insensitivity and generates resentment and a (in my view mistaken) willingness on the part of others to demonize Israel rather than just vigorously critique its current oppressive policies. The suggestion for a public relations offensive totally misses the mark--Israel needs teshuva, not a facial make-over. Israelis could start by understanding that security today would be better achieved by a spirit of generosity toward Palestinians rather than through new methods of domination and control. But since that is seen by most Israelis as "unrealistic," "soft," "idealistic" or "utopian," they end up supporting policies that correctly generate worldwide anger--and then they think that that would be solved by a better hasbara. Illusion after illusion after illusion. That's why some of us Jews in the US who want to protect Israel from delegitimation have formed the Tikkun community and invite Israelis to learn about our approach--at www.tikkun.org
