1. "The guy was sitting right next to me..."
aliza ,   Israel   (08.12.10)
I heard it is standard practise with most airlines not to sit unaccompanied children passengers next to male passengers.
2. Of course he is a Christian
James ,   Dallas   (08.12.10)
Of course he is part of >>Ramla's<< >>Christian<< community!! Ah, >>that<< explains it. Thanks, A Christian American Taxpayer
3. Everyone please note the following
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.12.10)
It doesn’t matter if he is an Israeli Arab Christian or an Israeli Jew he is still an Israeli. Anyone who condemns this man and his alleged murders solely on his ethnicity is veering towards racism. Look at it this was if circumstances were different and he was an African-American Hindu would you still be making such a big fuss out of his ethnicity?
4. Misrepresentation
D. Hanyecz ,   Los Angeles, CA,USA   (08.13.10)
As an Israeli online news site I would imagine that your goal would be to report the truth. Yes, Elias Abuelazam is an Israel citizen, but he is not a Jewish Israeli citizen, but an Arab Israeli citizen. When you title the article to grab people's attention it would be wise to think of how many people would like to hear more negative things about the Jewish Israeli people. So titling it "Israeli 'serial killer' " is not only misleading, to the general public it's factually incorrect. The Examiner wrote a similar article but specically identified Abuelazam as an Israel-Arab. We, as Jews and Jewish Israelis, do not need the world to have any extra ammunition against us. You write "The manager of the Liquor store where Abuelazam worked as a cashier said he spoke with an Arabic accent and introduced himself as an Israeli. " It is of no surprise to me that Abuelazam would like people to just identify him as an "Israeli". It brings bad impressions agains the Israeli Jews.
5. Arab, not Israeli
jimmy37 ,   Brooklyn, USA   (08.13.10)
This is remarkable. Why does the Arab Maan News have it right: "US arrests suspected Palestinian serial killer"?
6. Wow people get so racist over this thing!
Walter Lebowski ,   Auckland, NZ   (08.13.10)
The guy was born in Israel, had Israeli citizenship and has family in Israel. That makes him Israeli, regardless of his ethnicity or religion. If you view Arabs as not 'real' Israelis, then be honest about it and tell it to their face as well as to the outside world through the western media.
7. To the imposter posting as SarahB (#3)
flyingdoc57 ,   Florida, U.S.A.   (08.13.10)
SarahB would never post anything like that. Once again, you've been 'outed'. Get a life, fool. You fool no one in this forum. Perhaps you should stick to Haaretz talkback, where you regularly post pro-Israel comments using the name of Tony Silver (a vile Israel-hater), much as you do here using Matty Groves username. What's with you, anyway, fool? What possible joy is there is being so disruptive? And what outcome from your mischief do you anticipate? Does your mommy know you're on line?
8. WAIT A MOMENT
FADY EGYPT   (08.13.10)
FIRST OF ALL I AM CHRISTIAN ZIONIST WHO SUPPORTS THE STATE OF ISRAEL NOT BECAUSE OF HERZL BUT BECAUSE THE TORAH WELL I`D LIKE TO SAY THAT THIS CRIMINAL ISNT CONSIDERED ARAB BECAUSE ALL THE ARABS ARE MUSLIMS THIS MAN MAY HAVE JEWISH ROOTS AND HIS GRANDFATHER CONVERTED TO CHRISTIANITY ALSO THE EVIL CAN BE FOUND IN ANY PERSON REGARDLESS OF HIS ROOTS OR RELIGION BECAUSE THE MAN HAS INHERITED THE SINS FROM HIS FATHER AND MOTHER ADAM AND EVE FOR EXAMPLE WASNT IT POSSIBLE THAT THIS ISRAELI MIGHT BE A JEW ?? IT WAS POSSIBLE BECAUSE ALL THE HUMANITY ARENT IMMUNE FROM THE SIN THATS ALL AND GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU SHALOM
9. Arab!
Rael ,   Jhb SouthAfrica   (08.13.10)
I notice the non Israeli Internet news sources say this man is Israeli. It is the Israeli ones who (correctly) say he is Arab Christian Israeli. Now seeing as the non Israeli sources usually call Israel a "Jewish" state (but not France a "Christian" state for example) it is clear that the world single Israel out as "Jewish". In this case therefore the world media lead one to assume this man is Jewish. But he is not. And yes the Jews do not need more scorn directed their way. Thus it is good for the Israeli media to show this man is Israeli, and Arab, and Christian. Truth is best.
10. Arab Israeli 'Christian'
Mary ,   USA   (08.13.10)
"..if circumstances were different and he was an African-American Hindu would you still be making such a big fuss out of his ethnicity?" African American Hidus, all 5 of them, aren't known for committing over 10,000 terrorist acts around the since 9/11/2001. When they start, I'll move them higher on my list of probabilities. The guy was living just outside of America's largest Muslim community, where he was neither born, nor lived with his family, nor with his ex-wife. Hmmmmm.....
11. Arabs Except Druze are NOT Israelis
andy ,   orlando,u.s   (08.13.10)
Arabs living in Israel might have a State passport but they are not Israeli! An Israeli is a citizen who serves in the IDF or performs national service AND shows allegiance to Israel, for example the DRUZE.
12. Regardless of his origin..
Agha Khan ,   NYC   (08.13.10)
If he's guilty, then he was a sick man. Arab Israeli, or Israeli or whatever. This reflects his upbringing and that's the key here.
13. Arab
Sivan   (08.13.10)
An Arab should be the title - not Israeli.
14. #10 and #11, you two have raised the...
Persian CAT ,   USA   (08.13.10)
bigotry index in the US several notches all by yourselves. You two put David Duke to shame.
