1. Congratulations to Gilo "residents" !
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.15.10)
But what about the Palestinian citizens in the rest of the West Bank, who chocked by the wall, when will the "IDF" realizes that we are also human beings just like the Jews in Gilo ?!
2. Time for war crimes trials - Palestinian accountability
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.15.10)
The factual evidence speaks for itself: Palestinians shot and killed innocent unarmed Israeli civilians. By all standards, the Palestinians carried out war crimes. This was not "legitimate resistance to the occupation" - it was war crimes. It is time to pursue justice, find the killers and put them on trial for their crimes. The Palestinians who carried out these crimes must face justice. The Palestinians who gave the orders must also be put on trial for these crimes. It's time for human rights groups to start doing their job, or to admit that they are simply anti-Israel lobbying groups for the Palestinians.
3. to #1 see all you have to do is stop the violance
ghostq   (08.15.10)
toward Israelis and you will be free, as long as you initate violence there will be walls. duh.
4. #2
ghs   (08.15.10)
thanks brian. however, you see in order for someone to be tried with a war crime, there must exist a state of armed conflict. before you jump to a "but there was/is an armed conflict", you must remember that it obliges both parties to protect civilians within its territory and to prevent/punish various practices such as forcible transfer or deportation. Obviously this is not something that israel would want to have since it would also be held accountable for a myriad of offences, regardless of whether you say she is defending herself etc. personally i would love to see israelis and palestinians face the same court and finally be held accountable for what they have done. both parties. full transparancy and full accountability for all. know your facts.
5. #2 Brian
Dave ,   New England   (08.15.10)
why do you only call for war crime trials against the palis? Haven’t the settlers and Israeli soldiers also attacked and killed innocent unarmed pal civilians for example the settlers from Bat Ayin who carried out a number of killings ten years ago? If your definition of war crimes is the shooting and killing of innocent unarmed civilians then both Israelis and the Palis are guilty of these acts yet you only condem one side and ignore the crimes of the other side. Why is that?
6. to #4 you sound too rightous but you will
ghostq   (08.15.10)
have to include the UK, they r the one who enabled this situation, they were the entity who provide the means for the conflict left alon masacres that they commited in behalf of both sides, they were the one who evacuated entire areas, go check it, and stop blame the people for what foul forign created, the same goes to India pakistan who were created in the same way, about time someone will put the real criminals to justice. go check it if you dare, Israelis will never creat such thing as refugee camps it's ALL british invention.
7. The Forgotten Wall of the Media
David Aarons ,   Jerusalem   (08.15.10)
What a missed opportunity over the last few years Israel and the media had to show this wall as a defense to the much publicised Security Wall and the tragic human stories behind it.If there was a prize for missed public relations opportunities Israel would win first prize. Has anyone seen the city signs on Shatz Street of the Security Wall attatched to the street lights put there by leftist students of Betzelel School of Art with the help of the city?
8. Dave, since you can't see the logic yourself:
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.15.10)
I didn't "only" call for war crimes trials against the Pallies. Just like I'm not going to accuse you of be default supporting Palestinian terrorism. The settlers from Bat Ayin were arrested, tried and jailed. That's the difference that you don't seem to be able to get into your brain. The Palestinians treat all murderers of Israelis as heroes. The other difference is very clear, yet you seem to be blind to it: the residents of Gilo did not randomly open fire on innocent Palestinian civilians in Beit Jalla. Never. Nor did they send suicide bombers to blow up Palestinian buses. Never. Nor did they send gunmen to attack Palestinian schools. There is a huge difference in the quality and quantity of attacks between both sides. I am not excluding the fact that many times innocent Palestinians have been killed and many of those incidents deserve investigation. The fact is that Palestinian official policy was (and probably still is) to attack Israeli civilians. Those who do so receive official protection from the PA. You will have noticed here on YNET several trials of Israelis charged with killing or harming Palestinians. I challenge you to show me any trial in the past two years in the PA of a Palestinian charged with attacking Israeli civilians. Why is that, Dave? It's because the Palestinians officially sanction policies of attacking Israeli civilians. This includes both Fatah and Hamas. The evidence is so clear (bus bombings, restaurant bombings, attacks on schools) and factual that you have to be quite the racist to deny that they occurred, and quite the human rights denigrator to believe that Palestinians should not be held accountable. Why have you gotten sucked up in the Palestinian love-fest that you too think they have immunity from international law?
9. if fighting starts again put them in the Pal side of the wal
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (08.15.10)

Andreas Grefen ,   Remscheid, Germany   (08.15.10)
The answer to your question is very easy, Salma: The fence/wall/separation barrier - choose the expression you like - will fall, when Your Palestinian society will have abandoned terror against the "Infidels" and accepted the existence of Jewish State of Israel as its neighbour. And you will hopefully have stopped then to put the words "residents" and "IDF" into quotation marks.
11. #8 Brian
Dave ,   New England   (08.15.10)
In my mind both Palis and Israelis have committed war crimes and both should be hauled up in front of a war crimes tribunal. You talk about the huge difference in the quality and quantity of attacks between both sides, well you are right Israelis have killed far more palis and destroyed more pali homes and businesses so in regard to quantity of attacks israel is the race leader. In regard to quality is there really any difference between a suicide bomber killing civilians in a crowded area and the Israeli army shooting a tank shell into a crowd of peaceful protesters? You clearly said in your first post that Palis have committed war crimes by killing unarmed Israeli civilians and should be prosecuted under war crimes trials. you know there is a huge difference between future war crimes trials against the Palis and previous civil trials that prosecuted settlers. What you are doing is mixing apples and oranges to suit your argument so let me spell it out for you…..Should BOTH Israelis and Palis who have killed innocent civilians (and you have said that Israeli have killed innocent palis) in this conflict be prosecuted in any future war crimes trials? The answer is either yes or no Brian so what is your answer or do you need to write another long comment condemning the palis for their crimes while playing down the crimes of Israelis and avoiding giving a simple yes or no answer?
12. The Wall

Brian Cohen , Judean Peoples Front MY NEW HERO!!! Shavouah Tov
13. Ok Dave, here's your answer:
Brian Cohen ,   PeoplesFrontofJudea   (08.15.10)
Yes or no. This calls for immediate discussion.
14. Just had an interesting conversation with a Gilo resident
Brian Cohen ,   PeoplesFrontofJudea   (08.15.10)
From what I just learned, the wall is being taken down because part of it is on private land and the government ran out of money to pay the rent. So much for "new reality" theory...
15. Different removal
Dorothea Killus ,   Germany   (08.15.10)
This removal of the wall is so different from the removal of the wall in Berlin almost 21 years ago and happens under such different circumstances. I fear for the different results.
16. stupid move by barak
alexi   (08.15.10)
add this to the list of dumb moves by barak-paintball on marmora, lebanon withdrawal in haster, leaving a training accident early, saved by ashkenazi in cast lead when he advocated stopping gaza raid before ground game. He is a military olmert. Gilons will get killed as the arabs are not yet ready if ever for real peace and commerce. A stupid move by barak who should be replaced by vilnai or yaalon. Get rid of him, he is a drag on israel and is not well regarded by the troops.Only bibi likes him because bibi is insecure and has no great record as a commando.
17. A more serious reply to Dave
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.15.10)
You find me a Palestinian who is willing to put his fellow Palestinians on trial for war crimes, and I'll appear with him at a press conference and call for the same in Israel. I insist, however, that the Palestinian be from the rank and file (not a psychiatric hospital) and speak in Arabic. I'm willing to speak in Hebrew, English and Arabic. Let me know when and where and I'll be there. I'm not holding my breath.
18. The ding dang wall
BEN JABO ,   ISRaEL/USA   (08.15.10)
In the event our hostile neighbors are foolish enough to repeat their previous anti-Israel acts, the wall can be readily replaced, NEVER to come down again Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me

ghs   (08.16.10)
youre missing the entire point of what i wrote. there is no state of armed conflict, therefore nobody can be guilty of war crimes. bloody internet, all of a sudden everyone is an expert.
20. Gilo-Residents, it's time
Donatus ,   Strasbourg, France   (08.20.10)
