3. Time To Stop Blaming Moses....
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (08.17.10)
...for wandering around searching for the one place in the Middle East without oil. 1.5 billion barrels is humongous - it's unbelievable. I would compare Norway to Israel - highly educated and a major oil exporter = incredibly high standard of living.
4. 1.5 billion barrels isnt going to make Israel an oil exporte
zionist forever   (08.17.10)
1.5 billion barrels sounds alot but if thats the TOTAL amount of oil thats economically worth drilling its not enough to make Israel an oil exporter. It might provide Israel with its own personal needs for a while providing its economical to bring the stuff up and refining it and its not cheaper to buy oil on the open market. Even the natural gas reserves is not enough to ever make Israel an exporter. So any dreams of this oil and gas giving Israel political muscle is dreaming.
5. Oh great ! that will make the riches richer
aviG   (08.17.10)
and lead to a rise in living. Maybe good for security on a secular level, but certainly bad for faith in Hachem.
6. #1, Im looking at my map but I cant find Palestine??
Jake ,   USA   (08.17.10)
Im reading my history books but I there is no mention of a nation called Palestine?? Wait, I just found Israel in my history book. 850 years of sovereignty, until the Romans occupied & renamed the Jewish homeland "Provincia de Palestina". Is this the Palestine you are talking about?
7. Sayid @ 1, your oil is located at Arabian Peninsula.
leo ,   usa   (08.17.10)
8. Leave it in the ground and build solar and nuke plants.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.17.10)
We will all die from climate change if you exploit more oil.
9. Forget oil...
JS ,   NY   (08.17.10)
Israel better off with its high tech technology brains and find "the" alternative to oil. We dont need to be like our enemies, we want to neutralize them. Find a viable alternative to oil and the arab world is history the next day.
10. Israel dig a long tunnel beneath earth to Arab lands

13. Could be significant......Sayid the brainwashed Swede
Jae ,   Lynn US   (08.18.10)
There has never EVER...did I say EVER..been a country called palestine. At best it was the name the genocidal Romans gave to a part of the Holy Land, after almost exterminating or ethnically cleansing every Jew...so screw your name palestine. You are as much a phillistine as I am a Swahili mermaid. You are an arab you have 22 countreis to express your positiuve history of racism occupation and dominance. TRy to make something postive for all humanity with the resources you have:90% of oil, and land twice the USA. In other words, get a life and stop hating a people and a land that was established 2600 and 1900 years , respectively, before Muhammad took the first of his 50 wives.
14. #6 Jake
E ,   Al Khobar   (08.18.10)
Come here, and I'll show the maps that #1 has been reading. On these, there is no Israel and the whole Lavant is called Palistine.

17. #9, Couldn't agree with you more :)
Yaalas Chen ,   Minneapolis, MN   (08.18.10)
This has been my prayer forever. If anyone can discover an effective alternative to Arab oil, it will be the Israeli brain!!
18. To costly to drill at current oil prices but good reserves
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (08.18.10)
Water or gas injection would be needed to get most the oil and with current water shortages and risk of polluting ground water, its best to use a reserves for later if needed. This oil field is very close to greenline(67), with rumors of oil field under W. Bank also, it could may peace talks more tricky.
19. and what about keeping Rosh Haayin's beauty intact?
Xav ,   France   (08.18.10)
What about not harvesting oil: Israel has done very great without oil until now! Israel is a small country and extracting oil will totally damage the environment. Israel doesnt need that. Moreover it is situated too close to Lebanon meaning security problems in case of war with crazy lebanese. btw, never heard of "oil as a curse"?? Look at Israel's arab neighbours: they are extremely rich because of oil and ... are lacking the basics for their population. They never developped as the west and Israel! Easy oil revenues makes people lazy and increase corruption. Israel should better keep this oil wells as strategic reserve ready to be harvested in time of crisis or when oil prices go too high!!
20. #1..i am so happy we will benefit from your oil
JL   (08.18.10)
we will laugh all the way to the bank....why r the ummah such a stupid people?...1.5 billion strong and not even half an IQ amoungst u
21. Oil shmoil - use wind, solar, waves and tide instead
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.18.10)
I'm also still waiting to see if the Red-Dead canal project is a go. That would mean hydro power too (although driving turbines with salt water will be an interesting tech challenge). The less oil we use, the better off we are.
22. Palestinian Oil #1
Mark ,   TA Israel   (08.18.10)
You don't need oil, you have camels!
23. To those who want to give us mussar...
overpriced ,   Israel   (08.18.10)
To those who don't live in Israel and want to give us mussar....we pay the equivalent of $7.50 a gallon for gasoline. Don't tell us not to be happy to discover oil in Israel!!!
24. palestinian oil?
courtney ,   usa   (08.18.10)
whats palestine? i see references to palestine in the bible and in that book it refers to the land of the jews. i dont see Palestine on any maps however...
25. Would be nice...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (08.18.10)
...but let it be real, not like the infamous Meridor "light bulb to light up all of Ramat Gan" and the late PM Begin's comment "and now the Arabs can drink their oil!"
26. oil under rosh ha ayin
willem ,   netherlands   (08.18.10)
would be great, right under the town of the jews who were driven from their homes in yemen, now maybe they get compensated, not by the arabs, but at least some how... half the population of israel is jews driven from arab countries, how about the arabs pay back whatthey stole... give half the oil you got to israel. that would be an honest payback for all the lies and hate you gave to your brother israel, let's hope and pray there is a lot of oil under israel, under gaza, and under ramallah too... so those idiots on the west bank can stop complaining...
27. #1 Palestinian Oil

29. Woe
Mike ,   New York   (08.18.10)
The Holy God of Israel is providing for His chosen people, He will soon bare His mighty arm for them, those that hate the God of Jacob, when all falls down around you, call out His name, He is merciful. Woe to you if you do not. When Dagon falls on his face, seek the Holy God of Israel.
30. #8 "Climate change?"
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (08.19.10)
Do you really believe that nonsense? First it was called "Global Warming," but since some regions are actually getting colder, they decided to rename it "Climate Change." That alone should have made you wake up to the "Inconvenient Truth." I don't know about you, but I have lived in L.A. my entire life and have experienced cold years, hot years, dry years and wet years. 2010 was the coldest L.A. summer I can remember. When I was a kid and few people owned cars, we also had changeable weather. Weather is a natural phenomenon - nothing to do with man or his use of oil. People who believe Al Gore and his so-called climate scientists must realize they have been brainwashed.
