Eremit ,   Bern, Switzerland   (08.17.10)
Two mistakes were made. First, in an army, no one should take pictures of prisoners and posing soldiers. And the error of the IDF is that they enable it. Secondly, pictures of prisoners must not be released, on which a person is recognizable. And that is the fault of the attractive woman Abergil Eden. Otherwise, the pictures show a woman which is in front of a camera like a girl who doesn't know what belongs to.
32. What is the problem here?
Reuven Ben-Tal ,   Jerusalem   (08.17.10)
Could someone explain what is the problem with this photo? What you have is a female Israeli soldier standing or sitting in front of Arab detainees. I have a few photos like that during my military servse. Based on my experience with detainess, they most likely were not detained because of acts of kindness toward Jews or humanity in general!
33. Soldier's pictures
Xena   (08.17.10)
Stupid people do stupid things and the Israeli bashers are having a field day. The Arabs are disgusted - that's a bit rich coming from societies that oppress their people, stone and kill adulterers, homosexuals, political dissenters, etc. and are the Arab media outlets outraged? You all the answer to that...///... For another look at Israeli society, read the story in YNET about Israeli trekkers (200 of them) in India who instead of returning home stayed on to help the flood victims. So let's keep things in porportion .
34. If the Arabs are that disgusted let them take revenge and
M.M.   (08.17.10)
post a recent picture of themselves next to Gilad Shalit blindfolded.
35. Thank you for the reference, Mark: The
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (08.17.10)
videos of rabid hatred and cruelty are really quite astonishing when compared to the rather mild humiliation of the Palestinian prisoners as photographed for Facebook. Our resident Jew hater, "Matty Groves", of course has nothing to comment in that regard now that he's back from vacation and on Ynet again.
36. This is news?
Rachmeil ,   MechburgUSA   (08.17.10)
What a transparent joke. It's OK for Islamics to kill Jews, destroy Israeli holy sites, throw stones at workshipers minding their own business, call for the destruction of an entire peoples, but this is something the world needs to pay attention to? Its more news worthy to discuss the price of fish in the Bronx than it is to give this legitmate coverage.
37. Terrible torture
mike caton ,   USA   (08.17.10)
Yes indeed. These photos reveal a cruel, sadistic, bloodthirsty, and gruesome torture unprecedented in the history of mankind. Well....maybe not.
38. #35; Robert, not a problem
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.17.10)
Sometimes I try to get these things out there, but at times, they are not printed. Ynet seems more willing than some of the other Israeli papers, to let the information get out. I always believed if people can see both sides of the issue, that Israel more times than not...will win the PR battle...because they have the truth on their side. While the anti-Israel crowd has to rely on distortion, fabrication, lies through omission presentation of facts w/o context, to prove their points. They were pretty brutal pictures, when compared to the photo's that are now provoking such pseudo-outrage and hollow indignation in the Arab media
39. "Matty", it does appear that there are
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (08.17.10)
more than a few incidents of the IDF using Palestinians as human shields when entering homes. In which case, I was wrong and was certainly ignorant. Let me ask you a question: The use of civilians, including children and women, by Hamas forces was undeniable. This was a common practice during Operation Cast Lead. At present, Hezbollah forces are digging in in Lebanese villages within the civilian populations. Weapons and ammunition are also hidden amongst the civilian population. These are also common practices by terrorists in the larger mideast. Are you aware of these practices? Do you agree with them? Do you condemn them? And if you condemn these practices, where and in what publications can these condemnations be found? Just asking, "Matty", so I and the rest of the Ynet Readers can be sure you are not a professional Israeli denigrator. Looking forward to your response.
40. I am disgusted by her too.
R ,   Israel   (08.17.10)
She was interviewed on Israeli TV and came off as silly, stupid, clueless, and low-class. She doesn't represent any Israeli that I know. Everyone I know was disgusted by those pictures and by this girl. But hey, don't let that stop you bashers from holding this up as an example of all of us.
41. Big deal....making a big issue of nothing!
Jay3 ,   Israel   (08.17.10)
42. Hypocrisy 101
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (08.17.10)
I don’t recall at the moment, but was there an equally strong revulsion at videos released of helpless captives beheaded by Muslims shouting “Allah Akbar”? This faux “revulsion” by Muslims is just another deception, similar to the flotilla hoax. This is a clear demonstration of the hypocrisy of the Muslim/left.
43. Almost as disgusting as...
StevieT ,   USA   (08.17.10)
blowing up 61 fellow Muslims, like today in Iraq. But then when you think about it, one is just a silly immature girl, and the other is mass murder on a scale that is inconceivable in Western thought. Sort it out folks, it's not like rocket science.
44. :: Robert - #39
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (08.17.10)
<"Matty", it does appear that there are more than a few incidents of the IDF using Palestinians as human shields when entering homes> It is not just when entering house – Palestinians are also used as cover when the IDF are under fire ie: the IDF use Palestinian civilians as physical shields to protect themselves from live fire. The IDF also use Palestinian civilians to check for bombs and bobby traps. All of this is well documented. You wrote this back in March of this year: “This is called asymetrical warfare where one side (terrorists) battle without adhering to classical rules, denigrate human life including the lives of their own people, use their children and women as human shields and expect the other, civilized side, not to fire because the other side feels compelled to be "compassionate" and "caring"” By acknowledging that the IDF also use human shields you cannot but also acknowledge that the IDF *also* use ‘asymmetrical warfare’ and denigrate human life. There is no compassionate, caring or respect for common international law (let alone adherence to the “IDF Spirit”/code of ethics) when the IDF use innocent civilians. While it is not undeniable it should be noted that the IDF have an actual policy of using human shields and use human shields more often than Hamas or any other militant group. Yes. No. Yes. Is that unequivocal enough for you? Under the Ynet article entitled “Gaza flotilla passenger: Ship became lake of blood”. I stated: “Firstly the use of civilians as human shields is a war crime regardless if such an act is committed by the IDF or Hamas.” (post #76), I have said on several occasions in no uncertain terms that the use of human shields by *anyone* is a war crimes. Now a question for you: Do you agree that the IDF have committed a War Crime by using Palestinian Civilians as Human Shields? If you need to be reminded of the bit in the Geneva Conventions which states the use of civilians by a military force for military purposes (eg: as human shields) in any circumstance is a war crime just let me know.
45. Another
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (08.17.10)
Another international investigation? Obviously they have found a way to decrease a number of unemployed since soon, half of the world will take a part in one of those commissions. Clowns. But, if I somehow understand the Arab media, I don't understand the world media. Is it really so hungry of bad news on Israel that they take every smallest event and evolve it into a huge thing. Why?
46. there will come a time for you to pay dearly for all this
Marwan ,   Amman, Jordan   (08.17.10)
47. Arab Morality
Ron ,   OC, USA   (08.18.10)
In these somewhat mildly tasteless pictures, I don't see any Arabs beheaded, tortured, waterboarded, or held for some 4 years without a single red cross visit such as Shalit.
48. Kettle Calling the Pot Black
PB ,   United States   (08.18.10)
Yeah, ti wasn't a smart thing for this young lady to have posed for these pics. That said, I'm tired of the double standard that exists where the Arab world can do as they please, but Israel is the villain no matter what they do. They're just mad because Israel exists and they want them gone. Sorry, buu G-d wants them there. deal with it.
49. Oh poor little babies...
Amichai ,   Jerusalem   (08.18.10)
Seriously. If we have one thing in common with Arabs is that we also whine like little.....you know what. This was her proud moment in being involved in the apprehension of terrorists who were involved in lethal actions against the citizens of Israel. Leave her alone. The Arabs would pose with our hearts ripped out. As we saw a few years ago in Ramallah. Enough with this apologetic rubbish, it's disgusting.
50. Why the arabs are offended
E   (08.18.10)
They are offended not because she is posing in front of detainees, but because she is not veiled.
51. Thank you Syria and Hizbollah
Danny   (08.18.10)
I would be worried if Syria and Hizbolah APPROVED of how Israel treats prisoners....
52. JEWS DISGUSTED BY ARAB ROCKETS..WHICH IS WORSE?
....DACON9   (08.18.10)
53. Photo
Tom ,   New York , USA   (08.18.10)
Every policeman around the world carries handcuffs . There is no need to pillory this female soldier . What is degrading to Arabs is that a female is watching male Arabs.
54. Disgusted?
Sean ,   USA   (08.18.10)
She wasn’t sawing off anybodies head or shooting rockets into schools or even standing on a pyramid of naked dudes. A lot to do about nothing.
55. The only newsworthy issue is ....
ezra ,   USA   (08.18.10)
The hunger for propaganda topics to degrade Israel; Intense hunger it seems. That's newsworthy! Interesting. Posting the pictures is like throwing the dogs a bone. Probably should have NOT posted the pics, but it shows the world what the Jews are forced to deal with! Barauch HaShem.
56. This is too funny!
IRAN#1   (08.18.10)
I will visit my local "musem of tolerance" and see if they got any pictures of this chick with her "pals"(no pun intended) under the "never again" neon sign!!!! I kinda doubt it LOL!!!!
57. Gilad Shalit
David ,   Montpelier USA   (08.18.10)
These pictures are nothing compared to the sadistic, cruel and illegal treatment of Gilad Shalit. If the Israeli government had any courage it would put these photos on its own website and challenge Hamas to show in public what it does in private: torture, degrade, humiliate and dehumanize Gilad Shalit.
58. As a Jewish Woman This Is Not What I Want to See. Ever.
Elizabethlynne ,   Dallas, TEXAS!   (08.18.10)
My sympathy goes out to the Arab prisoners in the pictures, and I deeply regret the actions of this immature, ridiculous woman. Most Jews are ashamed of this behavior, and the Israelis that I know are, too.
59. #44;Matty, WRONG
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.18.10)
Matty writes; "IDF have an actual policy of using human shields and use human shields more often than Hamas or any other militant group." TOTALLY FALSE, now, and never more often. The statement is absurd. Has the IDF used Human shields in the past? Yes they have. "But more than Hamas or any militany group". Completely false. The fact is Hamas still uses human shields .1) Hamas has been caught using schools, hospitals, Mosques and residential homes as weapon storage facilities. 2) Hamas routinely uses all the above area's to launch rockets and mortars. 3) Hamas fighters dress as civilians to blend in with the population. 4) Hamas fighters have been video taped fighting battles running into a residential home to hide thier weapons, then exit the house casually going to another home where more weapons have been pre-positioned, leave the home armed and fight in another area. 5) Hamas terrorist have launched rockets from a residential street , then pulled the rocket launcher into the covered driveway to hide it from Israeli drones,. 6) Hamas uses red cross./crescent ambulances to transport weapons and terrorists from location to location. 7) When Israel has dropped pamphlets to warn they will bomb a building, to protect civilians, (usually a weapons factory or storage house) Hamas text messages civilians(typically women and children) to stand on the rooftops to prevent the bombing. 8) During the riots of the intifada numerous pictures have been taken, that show, children put on the front lines, with adults, standing or hiding behind the kids firing at the IDF. So the statement that the IDF uses human shields MORE than the terrorist groups is false. In addition, Israel publicly debated these issues and ruled on them in a courtroom, as illegal. By contrast, Hamas as well as Hesbollah and many other terrorist groups still engage in this practice, but, of course deny it.
60. Sorry, "Matty", as part of your process
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (08.18.10)
of demonization you act like there is an equivalency between the IDF and Hamas, Hezbollah and other mideast terrorist groups. Furthermore, you spend a great deal more time on the inadequacies and crimes of the IDF than you do on the aforenamed groups. You also equivocate when it comes to the continued crimes and neglect of the value of life when it comes to Hamas. Finally, you fail to address the nature of asymetrical warfare where one body hides behind civilians, Hamas and Hezbollah, and then expects the opponent to "play by yhe rules". And though you have addressed the crimes of the Arab mideast terrorist groups in Ynet on one occasion only, you have never addressed these issues in the other publications where you have posted such as Maan. All this continues to make me believe that your intent is to propagandize against Israel. Fair play and genuine compassion has never entered in to your character profile. You have become increasingly sophisticated at what you do but I, and others, have been following you for some time and see right through to your ugly and mishappen intent. We know what you are even though you continue to hide behind your folksong name. Hope this helps the newer Readers who may wish to get to the core of "Matty Groves".
