2. Actually NOT
Avi W ,   Edison USA   (08.30.10)
Theres always a John somewhere whos a nay sayer and tries to convince himself and others that what Israel has will have to be given away. Well John, ( a most fitting name) youre dead wrong. Actually the gas fields are in Israeli territory, and for those who say they arent, well, read the bible, most of southern lebanon is part of biblical Israel. But John may not know that, he's part of the 2nd coming crowd" Perhaps we can intrest you in a nice flat in Nabatia ?
3. Actually NOT wrong
Oriv   (08.30.10)
Southern Libanon belongs as it name reveals to Libanon whatever the Bible says. People are ruled by laws, same laws that created israel with limits. Not the bible.
4. Israel found Promised Barrels!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (08.30.10)
A long waited efforts gave fruits at last! Israel managed to dig a long tunnel to reach an undeground storage where placed large number of barreled oil ready to export. They are promised barrels and all Israel should do is to massacre poor arab guards and get the barrels out of storage. Yeah Israeli brains and arab money meet underground!
5. Avi W @ 2, I think John @ 1 was being sarcastic.

6. If Israel will have a lot of oil it could sell it to the
leo ,   usa   (08.30.10)
rest of the world for dirt cheap prices to drive price of oil down and bankrupt all Israel's lovely neighbors. That would certainly cut down terrorist supporting money a bit or two.
7. Oil found in Israel

9. Important, but not a global changer
Bill ,   New York, USA   (08.30.10)
It sounds like that this ensures Israel's self-sufficiency for quite a while. The best placed countries have technological prowess and natural resources, and now Israel has both. Unless there are much more than 3 billion barrels, Israel's impact on the oil market will be negligible. It would be better for Israel to ride the market and make good investments with the proceeds (i.e. education, research, infrastructure). And for those who want to believe in Arab claims to these deposits, as the saying goes: let them pound sand.
10. Yet Another Game-Changer
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (08.30.10)
Israel continue to discover massive new stores of oil and gas that will take care of domestic needs and soon turn Israel into an exporter. Improving techniques and technology makes it easier to tap these reserves. It's also reassuring that Noble Energy, a U.S. energy giant, makes these claims and not just domestic investors. This adds to other discoveries - including massive natural gas off the coast of Haifa and this only spurs more investment in locating additional gas and oil deposits. This is great news for Israel.
11. Tayfun from occupied Turkey NO 4
JUDAH THE LION   (08.30.10)
Poor Tayfun the FOOL.Tayfun got jealous about the gas discovery. My heart bleeds for him.Poor TaYFUN,NOW GET SOME FUN
12. #2,#3 - who cares what the bible says?
William ,   Israel   (08.30.10)
The fact remains that the gas find and now this oil find are located within Israeli waters, far from the Lebanon border. Actually, Lebanon is trying to change the border to 1923 in order to favor Beirut but that just won't happen. Beirut has only ONE option and that's pay the millions of dollars to explore their own area. So far, a Norwegian Oil company says Lebanon might have gas but the fields discovered in Israel do drop off significantly at the border, Lebanon's claim is just another case of Arab hubris - just like when they gave the desert to Jews but demanded it back when it began to bloom again.
13. #6 - wouldn't make a huge impact on market
William ,   Israel   (08.30.10)
What Israel SHOULD do is dump alot of alternative energy technology on to the market forcing people to move away from the oil economy. Arabs discovered oil because they were drilling for water. When it becomes useless again, Arabs will again return to drill for water and beg for arid irrigation systems...from you know who.
14. William @ 6, totally agree and I do not discount any
leo ,   usa   (08.30.10)
alternative, but as they say, every bit helps. It is not even necessary to sell your own oil. It is good enough to threaten with cheap price and get all sort of concessions.
15. First slap to Arab pride - Jews out of dhimmitude
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (08.30.10)
..... with a sovereign State that fight back....We used to be considered women in Arab countries prior to 1948 (Please correct me if I'm wrong, Terry) Second slap...we got gas and oil reserves too. Quit the hating and the jealousy, ya nas...make Salaam guys...we'll all prosper
