1. Is Israel will to give more or can PA take lessthan 2yrs ago
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (08.29.10)
The Quartet, Arab league and PA have reached a deal with Hamas even somewhat on board. That is modified Saudi plan with land swaps but can any Israeli PM make that deal?
2. Mouss knows the truth ..
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (08.29.10)
The newspapers are now full of advice about the 'peace talks' and what can be done and what should be done. The truth is that their will be no peace talks and both Israel and the PA know this and are simply participating in a charade for outsiders. The problem is not land but religion but most left wing journalists wish to deny this. The PA along with Hamas will never agree to a Jewish State in their midst and the most that they will do is play for time and hope to get more money from dumb donators. Whilst Israel is strong it will be safe and that is its saving grace. Michael
3. Israel didn't build for 10 months ..
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (08.29.10)
and during that time the PA refused to negotiate. Why? It doesn't want to arrive at an agreement. Michael
4. The truth is
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.30.10)
that if the talks did succeed (slim chance but if) the Arabs will no longer have excuses to enslave their Palestinian residents and citizens. And that is something the Muslim states cannot and will not accept
5. MOUSSA IS A BUFFOON
ALEXI   (08.30.10)
moussa is unlike sadat or mubarak who were modern though cautious. Remember how this fool applauded erdogan's one moment speech in davos- he was in ectasy as erdogan called peres a murder. Of course erdogan was representative of a peace loving nation- right? right. Ask the armenians, greekds and kurds how peace loving they are. no, there is no palestinian people, the whole thing is a hoax. And if they did form a nation, the jordanians, syrians and eventually the egyptians would tear it to pieces.
6. Is anybody optimistic about talks?
zionist forever   (08.29.10)
Abbas doesn't want them at all. Bibi might want some kind of dialogue but he had his coalition stopping him from doing anything major and Abbas wants more than he can give. Obama is the only one who does any talking .. he talks too much but I am sure even he is not optimistic which is why he is now playing with the idea of creating a palestinian state first and peace later. Create the state the Obama legacy and jewish vote in 2012 is assured if we don't have peace well thats not his problem he will let us work that one out for ourselves with nothing more than a few speeches now and again along with possible suspension of weapons to Israel. He is not going to go all out to try get peace because if he fails then his victory as being the man who got the arab state will be overshadowed by his failure to bring peace. Obama is never going to risk his legacy to bring Israel peace especially if he also risks upsetting his muslim allies. Real peace is no more possible today than it was in 1948.
7. #6 zionist forever
Malone ,   Hfx   (08.30.10)
I agree completely...these peace talks are a farce, and all the players know it,it's a charade. Obama is desperate for some kind of success, since he has totally failed at everything thus far. It's all about his CV,and I doubt this will add to his resume.
8. Is Israel going to give itself up and surrender to Arabs?
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (08.30.10)
Dismantling Israel is the only thing left to give Arabs more then already offered to them in the past. This is my expert opinion. I tell it as I see it in my crystal ball 8000 miles away from where the action takes place. 9. The Mother of All Battles, If...
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUsA   (08.30.10)
Arafat liked to remind the world of this 100 yr old conflict. Jews/Arabs/Brits, were like ham, lox and eggs and muffins, just wont mix. Left alone, Jew/Arabs, could tolerate one another..but there are other forces throughout history, most lately the wider Muslim world (Iranians, Turks, etc.). Lets not forget Israel's nukes were meant for Russia, NOT Egypt/Syria/British Arabs. Jordan IS the true Palestine, including its people. The Balfour created a place for Jews in the Mandate..but the borders were NOT defined. The 48 War changed everything..something Arafat, Abbas, have not accepted. Right of return, no such right. UN242 is still the only viable plan, if implimented and enforced. Obama will have to secure any two state solution...which even Barak approves of. Bibis red lines are intelligent, but enforceable? I doubt it. Then there is Hamas/Hez/Syria and Iran's new long range artillery, drones, and Shahabs...This meeting is, in my opinion, peace's last chance. I am NOT optimistic.
10. Few Noticed a Soldiers Death
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (08.30.10)
Hamas already has threatened any Arab leader who gives up Jerusalem (all), or right of return, with death. Iran marching fwd to a nuke arsenal (1yr away). Hez building a 25,000 man army to slice Israel in two parts ( outflanking the Golan) and keep Jews in shelters while it unleases 40,000 rockets. Syria is getting warplanes, and defenses, while handing Hez weaponry and controlling the Lebanese govt and people. In Israel, Shalit's captivity is protested by some, faulting Bibi for his situation. 10,000 people march against a mosque in NYCity, while US newspapers scold us for religious bigotry and intollerance. (Saudi Arabis doesn't allow Jews guys). The LA Times has op-eds and articles giving Pales terrorists motives for bombings or attempted killings (of Jews). Pales claim innocence. IDF are shown as goose stepping like SS, roughing up Arabs at the Mount. Jews (Bloomberg/Goldstone), contribute to our slow demise, seemingly oblivious to what their (Muslim) goals are. And in Israel, what is a Jew is debated? In the US, Satmar protest Israel's excavations..to the smirks of the local population. The soldier who found the Nuremberg anti-Jew laws, just dies of old age...and few notice.
11. more accurate headline: Moussa Optimistic Talks Will Fail
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.30.10)
the last thing he wants, along with everyone in the arab league, is for talk to succeed and there be peace.
12. Amr Moussa
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (08.30.10)
Where to now for the Arab League mouthpiece as he now has a rival in Mohamed el Baradei for the leader of their native country Egypt,no wonder he,s so pessimistic ?
