I don't know what books you are reading or what visits you are making (if any) - you need to either quote your sources of speak sense!
Herodian Quarter was discovered in the Jewish Quarter, it has no relation to the Muslim or Christian Quarters in Palestine.
Capicce?

I wonder who wore it, a Roman, or perhaps a hellenized Jew? People back then seemed to have a refined sensibility.

Goes back centuries! Almost 1,400 years of continuous Muslim and Christian rule is loud testimony to this fact. The Church of the holy Sephulcre, along with the Holy Nativity Church, and Alquds Complex, are not part of a "Jewish" state, and will NEVER be.
Do you understand this? I don't think you do. But you will eventually comply with international law which clearly tags you a thief.

"thief" I think not.
In 1267, after the crusaders were driven from Jerusalem, a small Jewish community re-established itself in the ruins of what is now the Jewish Quarter.
This area has been the center of the Jewish community in the Old City ever since.
In plain English, Muayyad, you are wrong.
