1. Is peace impossible with the Palestinians?
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.08.10)
America can force Israel and Fatah to the negotiating table, but the Palestinians are most likely unable to sign any peace treaty without Gaza. Will the Iranian financed Hamas be allowed to destroy any chances for peace? Will the Palestinians themselves be motivated enough to wage a civil war in order to achieve statehood? At this point in time it doesn't look that way. The current peace talks are thus doomed to failure until the Palestinians confront Hamas and resolve it themselves. I think it might take a combined Palestinian/Jordanian/Egyptian attack on Gaza to do it. It will be messy, but may be the only way for the Palestinians to achieve a state.
2. trying to kill preschool children = brave resistance
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.08.10)
and they would have handed out candy in the streets if they had succeeded in killing them. what a morally repugnant culture and society.
3. Mortar attack on kindergarten
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (09.08.10)
And the Arabs, pacifists and Turkish PM complain about Israelis killing children. I say, that, every complaint they make about Israel, is an action they themselves have made against Israel. They don't want peace - they want destruction. There are too many representatives of the devil in the world, lately. And the pacifist people are only letting them grow. It is time to beat back the devil....
4. We should have completed the job in Gaza
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (09.08.10)
in spite of the international communities' condemnations. Had we had real leaders at the time instead of Olmert and Livni, we would have wiped Hamas out. The only leader currently in the Knesset you could bet on now is Avigdor Lieberman of Yisrael Beiteinu.
5. "Happy new year" from "partners".
Eddie Shor   (09.08.10)
6. stronger & more intelligence
observer   (09.08.10)
the precision of the missile and timing it to coincide with half an hour before, like the IRA warning tech., means they have more intelligence even in the most closed kibbutzim.
7. Systematically, since 1920, each time peace is the subject,
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.08.10)
the Muslim-Arabs intensify their war-of-attrition-through-terror against the Jewish community of the Land; against men, women and children, and the world is largely silent. But not only that, much of the world then comes to blame the Jewish people, within and without its nation-state of Israel, for placing obstacles for peace while the very opposite is the case. Short of life itself, there is nothing more that Jews have wanted - since the 19th century - but the reaching an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Arab and Jew, between the Muslim-Arab world and the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel. Yet, the Muslim-Arab world's response is death and destruction...!!
8. I find it sad and ironic that these Kipputzim
Al   (09.08.10)
who were in the forefront in advocating the expulsion of Jews from Gaza should be today getting it in the neck. Dumb as dumb can be dosent begin to describe these kipputzim.....for they are petz.
9. so much for iron dome?
another benefit ,   of military research   (09.08.10)
So Color Red is not sounded, neither is any AA measure kicking in yet in case of mortar attacks. It's a bit scary to promote the defense industry's case, though coming up quickly with new ideas seems quite urgent, more important than phoney, bogus peace talx
10. to #7Jehudah Ben-Israel
deafening silenced ,   ye old europe   (09.08.10)
'much of the world then comes to blame the Jewish people, within and without its nation-state of Israel' is actually a soft version, synagogues are subject to arson attacks in europe, exactly because of israels actions, as if they were one.
11. Want a solution? Move the Knesset to Sderot. The arab MKs
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.08.10)
would be afraid to come and no Jewish MKs would be leftists anymore.
12. Destroy Hamas.
Wise Saba ,   Eretz Yisrael   (09.08.10)
The P.A. is no better either.
13. The saddest thing about this story is
Robert J Owen ,   London   (09.08.10)
That one of the kibbutzim member said that now the walls also have to be fortified and urgently........No Israelis, you still don't get it, you don't need to fortify walls or helmets for kids or bigger bunkers, all you need to do is make sure that the arabs pay a heavy price for every small rocket they send to you.........a dead arab can't fire rockets.....that's not rocket science
14. Horrible double standard
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (09.08.10)
We are held to a fatal double standard! Terrorists prey upon our civilians, targeting our own children! But, should we defend ourselves, we are condemned. Common sense, in any other country would result in massive retaliation, but we are expected to just "suck it up". Will the Palestinian authority (interesting words) intercede? Well, that is really the best question. Do the Palestinians really wish peace, security and a future? Then they will quickly demonstrate their commitment, and make meaningful arrests. Ignore this provocation, and that is as good as an endorsement. When the Palestinians approach these peace talks, with commitments equaling their demands, real progress becomes much more of a possibility.
15. #8 Al
DS ,   Israel   (09.08.10)
For your information, this rocket fell on my Kibbutz and yes I was for pulling out of Gaza at that time and have changed my view on that a long time ago. My Kibbutz was hit by Kassams, while we were still in Gaza, and I knew the danger of what was to be, but I still thought we should pull out. So you can call us all the names you want, that is the easy thing to do but remember, until you are in my shoes and have gone through, what we the Kibbutznics have suffered through all this, along with the people of Sedrot, save your breath. P.S. I always use my real name and where I live at while I am posting on these talk-backs, but to keep the name of my Kibbutz out of the news, I am using a different Name.
16. #14 its for a simple reason
Omri ,   Israel   (09.08.10)
The common lefti doesnt hear this story on the news all he hears is IDF bombing them back. By the time they come to post in sites like this one or in any other dialog where they hear about attacks such as this they have already made their minds and there is no way to get them to understand they made a mistake. No one likes to acknowledge he made a mistake.
17. Thank you YAHWEH
Beaulah ,   Chennai, India   (09.08.10)

"There will be peace when the arabs love their children more than they hate us".
20. no.1
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (09.08.10)
That all depends on the Palestinian spin doctor Saeb Erekat ,who changes his coat the same way a chameleon does ,who he,s speaking to on any given day,it changes accordingly ,but no he doesn,t have the seichel to wage a civil war for his fellow Palestinians ,the big bucks are far more enticing .
21. Ehud Barak GO HOME!!!!!
David P. ,   Capitola, CA   (09.08.10)
you are unfit to be a defense minister for the Israeli people
22. Where is Goldstone ?

23. rocket , at the school
larry ,   kibbutz nir oz   (09.08.10)
well , its so nice you told the terrorists just when to fire the next rocket ( Israeli news does it again .. ) do you have any cents or are you just not thinking , i doubt if you will print this but get a second opinion before you write an other damaging story that will cost lives of children
24. @#11: right on!
Bat Zion ,   Centre, Israel   (09.08.10)
25. 100 meter penalty
T. Traub ,   USA   (09.10.10)
For every weapon that is fired into Israeli territory from Gaza, Israel should take 100 meters of Gaza. Just keep moving the line forward until these animals finally get it. They will lose all their territory if they keep shooting. Eventually the only true solution is to get rid of the Arabs. Bus them to Sinai, or to Jordan, or to Syria, anywhere but Israel or the territories. They have demonstrated an inability to live peacefully as neighbors, so why on earth should Israel tolerate their existence? Of course, in the real world Israel can't do this without massive condemnation from the Euro-Muslim world. The question is, would Israel rather have a kindergarten bombed than suffer bad international press? At a certain point, you have to exact a permanent retribution on the attackers.
