I'm Afraid Frank, you are totally misguided. I don't mean to be condescending, but I feel the same way about your opinion as well as the Op-Ed piece. I sincerely think that peace with the Palestinians can't be achieved until they acknowledge our right to exist and our right to the land. We can never have a peaceful state with them if they are hell-bent on the destruction of ours. Every conflict in Israel is not a new conflict; it is a continuation of the same old problem that I mentioned above. These peace talks will go no where and there will be of course the most ridiculous excuse or heinous acts of violence to break them down. Already the Palestinian leadership is in an uproar over settlements the very settlements that have existed for quite some time now and in the past have never been such a major issue. I will go so far as to say that if someone were to add an extra room in their home in one of the settlements the entire peace talks will break down. The blame game will continue and of course we all know it’s Israel that everyone will point the finger at. Then again I do believe in miracles and we should continue efforts for peace as long as it doesn't threaten our safety, which it already has, so now I can only hope the bad situation doesn't get worse.

Including Judea and Samaria (which according to International law are part of the state of Israel), Israel's historic and present heartland is NOT Greater Israel. Going beyond the original mandate for the Jewish homeland , may be (though Qana just outside the northern border is certainly part of the land if Israel). Retaining Judea and Samaria is not only Israel's right but giving them away will be the death nail to all of Israel. No Judea and Samaria=no Security.
