I PERSONALLY CANNOT IMAGINE THE IRISH AND ITALIAN CATHOLIC CONSTRUCTION WORKERS BEING WILLING TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT EITHER. GOOD POINT.
35. THE NAME 'CORDOBA' SAYS IT ALL.

THE MOSQUE BUILT ON THE SITE OF THEIR FIRST CONQUEST IN SPAIN. THEY ARE LAUGHING AT THE WORLD, SPITTING IN ITS FACE, AND ATTEMPTING TO ONCE AGAIN BUILD ON THE ASHES OF THEIR VICTIMS.
36. #27: There is a big difference between building a convent

next to where a concentration camp was, and building something that is actually SYMBOLIC of the perpetrators on the ruins that their very own people created. CATHOLICS DID NOT BUILD THE CONCENTRATION CAMPS. NOR DID THEY COMMIT THE HORRIFIC CRIMES THAT THE NAZIS DID. THEY THEMSELVES WERE VICTIMS OF THE CONCENTRATION CAMPS. YOU OUGHT TO TAKE BACK WHAT YOU SAID AND APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR GROSS COMPARISON. THAT WAS JUST PLAIN WRONG.

In an urban area as tightly packed as Manhatten do you really think that the world trade centre was the only affected area? The attack caused severe damage to surrounding buildings (some which had to be torn down), the cloud of toxic dust and smoke travelled further than 2 blocks causing long term health problems for those in the surrounding areas: in a few cases these problems have led to death and there are still many more who are dying slowly due to reduced lung function and the after effects of exposure to the carciogens released. That is not even taking into account the long term psychological effects of victims families, the rescue workers (their families), and those present in the area when the attacks happened, effects are now being seen in children who were at the time still in the fetal stage at the time. This is why people are protesting 2 blocks away; those 2 blocks were still effected.
39. Honor our Murdered 3,000! No 9/11 Victory Mosque!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.12.10)
Americans and others will NEVER forget the suffering and horrific deaths of our precious 3,000 brothers and sisters murdered without mercy by the followers of Islam. The pain, the grief and the anguish is greatly intensified by the wicked plan to build a victory mosque to honor Islam at sacred Ground Zero. It can NEVER be forgotten that thousands of Palestinian Authority Muslims celebrated the cruel mass slaughter of our innocents – dancing in the streets, firing into the air and passing out candy. It cannot be forgotten that some Muslims also celebrated in America and other countries. We must not dishonor our beloved 3,000. We must not dishonor this great nation with a trophy mosque at Ground Zero.

You, my friend, live most of the year in an Islemic hellhole. I have no doubt everything you're going through is true and I'm sorry for you. You need to get out there lickety split. I don't know what's keeping you there, is it money? It sure isn't sex, drugs and rock-and-roll :) It's all about the money, isn't it? If you want to see how normal Moslems live, go to Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia where Moslem, Christians and Jews live with each other. Then we can talk.
41. #14 IZL, Let's cut to the chase.

ynetnews.com, a publication that I read regularly and respect, "produced" this hateful piece. nuffsaid. I assure you I care about the "other sides". Just read my posts. As to the extremist "majority" you're referring to, that's because the media is playing a MAJOR role publicizing the extremists' views from all sides. It may sound cliche, but the overwhelming MAJORITY of Moslems are NOT extremists. Those people are too boring for the media.
42. Sacred site
Marilyn ,   USA   (09.12.10)
As a non-catholic Christian, we tend not to have anything that is so called sacred. These kind of things tend to get taken over or away or used against you or whatever. It's easier not to have. Also people want to go more towards the spiritual, instead of towards the physical. Anyways one thing that we might have to consider is if having the 911 site considered sacred works for us. Also what would make this site be considered holy and so forth. Also if this present location works for us. The monuments could be moved-some of the dirt and all. It's hard for things to really remain static because things are always changing.
43. This mosque would be built upon
shmulke ,   w. coast usa   (09.13.10)
...the ashes of those who burned and otherwise perished in the radical Islamic terror attack of 9/11/01. Did you not see New Yorkers fleeing in panic from the clouds of dust and smoke that billowed down the streets for blocks and blocks? This mosque would be built upon these ashes! This must NOT be allowed to occur!

Recently, there was an interview with a very impassioned construction worker named Andy Sullivan, who happens to be the son of Irish immigrants. All I can say is if he and his fellow workers in the city's building trades unions have anything to say about it...that mosque just ain't gonna happen. By the way, you're absolutely right about the name "Cordoba." Apparently, it slipped past a lot of people who should have known better, but whose knowledge of history seems to be a bit lacking. However, in this situation, Americans are uninformed at their own peril.
