31. #29 did you want to talk about why the Olim come here?
(09.20.10)
Well please do allow me to remind you that most Olim from English speaking countries come on Aliyah AFTER they have failed in their own countries. For them Israel is the last resort to make a good life for themselves. They are filled with zionist zeal and sentiment for the wrong reason because they are looking for a bailout! When that bailout doesn't materialize for them then of course instead of taking responsibility for their ways they blame Israel! That also holds true for people who feel the need to leave Israel...instead of working at making good here they move there and everywhere and blame Israel for their own lack of responsibility. I for one am tired of this baloney of theirs!
32. #31
Ilana   (09.20.10)
I object strongly to your cruel generalizations. First, it is downright mean. Second, many religious jewish family come out of love for Israel. Third, secular ones come for many reasons including failure, yes, but also out of other reasons including zionism. Many stay, many don't. I am trying to figure out what is behind your nasty accusations. I have a few ideas, but I would rather just not think about any more. If you intended on insulting and angering anyone, well, you succeeded. Hatima tova and shana tova.
33. The problem with Israel is that the Zionist elite
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.20.10)
only care about their own bottom-line (the money), and don't give a damn about the rest of the Jews. With all the money and power they have, they could have created an Israel as nice as Germany, Switzerland or Canada. But instead, Israel is no more than a military garrison, with high taxes and little economic opportunities to live a decent life. Young Israelis see the handwriting on the wall and are seeking a better life elsewhere. I wish them all the best for the New Year.
34. Rich
Ilana   (09.20.10)
generalizations only occur when one is prejudiced. Yeah, now zionist are rich and rule and want to take over the world... at least think of something newer than 500 years. FUNNY NAME btw-Rich.
35. Living in Israel
Moshe ,   Israel   (09.20.10)
Yes, living here is not easy, but there are many pluses. One is that all of my children and grandchildren are Jewish. My friends in the Galut do not have this nachas. Instead of complaining, we should all try to make things better. We have been at war ever since the modern State of Israel was founded and so a lot of our money has to go for defense. And by the way, things are not so great in the US now either. Many people have lost their jobs and homes, and I don't mean the lower classes.
36. People only concerned with themselves
iObserver and News ,   US-Israel   (09.20.10)
Almost everyone today, regardless of which country you live in, are 'out for themselves and themselves only.'. We have very, very little dignity, honor, sophistication and are "mis-educated" by the homogenic mindset of liberalism ("me-ism"). Let them go live there or anywhere else they want. Is it sad? Foolish? Insensitive? Idiotic? Perhaps. But who on earth would want these people as neighbors anyhow? If they have no scrupples, let them leave in 'droves'. The truth is, mondern liberalism has destroyed democrazy with it's overbearing oppression of responsibility and reality. Naiivete is the soup of the day and people today are willing to defend the 'rights' of the bombmaker nextdoor...even if they intend to use the bomb on them. I'm glad Israel is 'militaristic' in response to the realities that face them. I'm glad Israel is a 'hated country & people' by most of the world. It reveals our integrity and commitment to truth, security and changing the mindset of the lunatics that surround us so they'll leave us the he'll alone. Who needs Europe with it's 2,000 years history of bloodshed? They can keep it along with their pretty cobblestone streets, cobanas in the mountains and corner cares. A good life is enhanced by good people, not surroundings. Let them go live among the barbarians we fight so bard against. And let them know that their tax dollars there go to weapons sales to the enemies of Israel (Germany sold their ship building company to the Arabs recently). There are always enough GOOD Jews around to fight the good fight and compromise for what is right.
37. # 31 DON'T MAKE EXCUSES
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (09.20.10)
It is not Olim who have failed .Israel has failed olim .There are few opportunities here...unless one wants to work as a cleaner .And the attitude here oftem sucks....exploitation is the order of the day.
38. #31 WHAT HAS ISRAEL GOT
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (09.20.10)
To offer Olim ?? apart from a hard time.
39. This news quite amazing - of all places
miri ,   israel   (09.20.10)
to settle down in - Berlin ?? Are you truly welcomed there ? How can one completely ignore the past ? These youngsters have tough skins.
40. Lawrence, 38#, you answered your own question
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (09.20.10)
In a previous email a few days ago you wrote that you are in Israel, especially Safed, because Israel is the Jewish homeland and Safed is a very spiritual and holy place for Jews. I work one day a week in the Kupot Holim in Safed and during my lunch hour I love walking around in this amazing place that you call home.. I have also twice been to a medical convention in Berlin. As a Jew I would MUCH rather live in Safed than Berlin even if it results in a lower salary. Lawrence just imagine spending Yom Kippor in Berlin instead of Safed? A pretty nauseating thought.
41. Young Chilonim moving to Berlin in droves
Mo Lupus ,   UK   (09.20.10)
Your Heading should read - Young Chilonim moving to Berlin in droves, They have no reason to live in Israel as they have never been taught that G-D gave it to them. Being reminded in Berlin that they are Jews, will soon give them the wake up call, to fly back to the home of their Forefathers.
42. #40 WILD HORSES
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (09.20.10)
Wild horses could not drag me to Berlin ,which is why I am here and not there .I am just in a stroppy mood....sorry about that and shana tova.
43. 42#, Lawrence, Shauna Tova to you too
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (09.21.10)
Yes, we all have these type od days but remember that many people read the talkbacks on Ynet including non Jews from abroad so your words do matter.
44. Well, good for them
Cameron ,   USA   (09.21.10)
Now the ever growing Muslim population will bring that comfort zone to an end at some point in the future, but may they enjoy Berlin for years until that time.
45. You can only be guests here
Martin Sandberger ,   Berlin, Germany   (09.21.10)
Israel is your homeland, Germany is mine. You can be guests here, but well behaved guests shouldnt overstay their welcome.
46. Right-secular Jews go to Germany
Avi G. ,   Israel   (09.24.10)
My kids are all in the religious-Zionist groups and would never dream of moving to Germany or to any other country either. We love it here in Israel, our own country.
47. Don't be so naive
Alexander ,   NJ, USA   (09.28.10)
I have seen an increasing number of Israeli's here in the states and at first I didn't get it. Why would anyone especially a Jew want to leave Israel? To be honest it's not such a bad thing. Consider this, most of the people that leave do so because they can't find the same opportunities living in Israel as the opportunities they get abroad. This I think is actually a really good thing for Israel especially now because it's these very same Israeli's that are the biggest Zionists and stand up for Israel the most in these times when Israel needs it the most. That is the immediate benefit for all the Jewish people so it's not such a crime when you think about it. Also they are not there now, but that's only because they have not returned yet. Give them time and let them do whatever G-d wants them to be doing there and when the time is right they too will return. I haven't come across a single Israeli that doesn't miss Israel and their children have a much greater desire for Israel too. Sometimes we just need to leave home to figure out who we really are and how much our home really means to us.
48. Biased much?
Johann Q ,   Germany   (06.01.11)
Well, do what you want... enjoy your crime rate in the states!
49. How is that tragic?
Johann Q ,   Germany   (06.01.11)
I think that's just a normal, modern world. People, especially young educated ones, want to look beyond their own backyard!
50. Minimum wage is hardly the reason
Johann Q ,   Germany   (06.01.11)
It can't be, because there is no generally applicable one in Germany either. Just for several sectors, with strong labor unions...
