1. Abbas wants a compromise
Eli ,   Raanana   (09.14.10)
that's why he pretends to be tough to be able to sell the compromise to Arab public. "The Israelis paid a heavy price for our compromise"
2. Can Netanyahu handle pressure ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.14.10)
Of course not ,He wants to please his masters in Washington and terrorism and threats have proven to work against spineless wimps like him. He's already sold out with his compromise that harm's Israeli's and helps Islamic terrorists. He knows he can get away with anything because of his useful idiots in Likud who go along.
3. They spelled it wrong ...should be Sham Summit
Jay3 ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
4. Judea & Samaria is Jewish Land! Period!
Jordan is Fakestine   (09.14.10)
5. This is a waste of time. Both sides want to
Israeli 2   (09.14.10)
please Obama who needs to pull this off eventhough they all know that real peace will not be. The only solution is for the USA and Jordan to carve out a small Palestine within Jordan...or for the USA and Egypt to carve out a small Palestine within the Sinai.
6. crisis
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.14.10)
As the talks started, a crisis was narrowly averted. Shawish Netanyahu put one sugar instead of two in Abbas' coffee, so Abbas had to slap him. The crisis was solved when Clinton forced Netanyahu to apologize.
7. Maybe. Prehaps....?
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (09.14.10)
The US is envious of the "building boom" (albeit with more than a few actual & impending Kassam Booms) that signals new construction in Judea and Samaria. New construction that does NOT appear to exist in the Obama ravaged real estate sector. That's it. "Building Envy". As for Abu Boo Boo's wants and refusals. Just another polititurd in the road of israels continuing historical journey. "Flea-bitis".
8. Proud to be Israeli!
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (09.14.10)
I am Israeli and I'm proud of being Israeli! That means that both Clinton and Mitchell should talk and give orders to americans, not to us! We don't want them, we don't need them! We need a Prime Minister with guts!
9. It takes two to tango!
Spencer ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
These talks are a complete waste of time and money. Israel has done it's best to make peace. She has given up much and taken great risks and what did she get in return.....rockets and suicide bombers. Enough is enough. To hell with the demands of Barak HUSSEIN Obama and his cronies. Israel must go it alone, remain strong andat the end of the moratorium, start building again. Obama is on his way out so the terrorists regimes wont be able to rely on him for much longer.
10. Absolutely agree with # 5
Lioness ,   Israel   (09.14.10)
Jordan IS Palestine and that state should be given to the Palestinians. While these talks are taking place if they want Israel to continue the freeze the Palestinians should not build either because this is a racist policy and worse not allowing Jews to build in the land that G-d gave to the Jewish people. And for that matter the Americans should freeze their building too for wanting Israel to stop building. Mind you when the G-d of Vengence shows the world what a freeze is everyong in America better take cover!
11. An Obvious Trick
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (09.14.10)
Having Israel "temporarily" freeze construction of Jewish homes in the Land of Israel was an obvious and dirty trick. "Now, let's extend the freeze...." Everyone seemed to know that, but the Israeli government fell for it - and agreed to it. Let it be clear. We Jews do not wish to be segregated into living in narrow ghettos any longer - and what the Arabs are trying to do is just that. The whole idea of denying Jews the right to build and live freely in our own homeland is outrageous and unacceptable. What kind of stupid little skinny country will we end up with if we agree to this Arab demand? Shall we live in a box?
12. You need a new PM
Rachel ,   US   (09.14.10)
I still can't believe Bibi was idiotic enough to fall for this.
13. Building freeze should start at first in WTC
Seppo ,   Finland   (09.14.10)
area to prevent the Muslim honorary and memory building of their succesfull attack against the US. Only after that they have any right of talking of building freeze in Israel. Now Muslims have all the rights to build in Israel according to BHO administration. They have no state and only a little bit of land owned by Arabs and nobody has given them building permits, unless Barak in secret. If the freeze ends Bibi is still PM of Israel, if it continues Bibi has chosen to be PM of Fatah or PLO for nothing.
14. Thank you our heroic Jewish "settlers".
Sarah ,   Jerusalem   (09.14.10)
Baruch HaShem and thanks to you - there is "no evidence of progress on the hard issue of Jewish settlements." Sarah
15. US will have to settle for "partial freeze".
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (09.14.10)
16. Abbas Irrelevant Once More
Rube Vogel ,   Jerusalem   (09.14.10)
Every time. Every time. The Palestinians get something and give nothing. And the next time they come back to negotiations, this will be their starting point.
17. A Creative Solution - Land for War
Rube Vogel ,   Jerusalem   (09.14.10)
Israel will freeze all building in the disputed territories. If however there is no peace agreement in a year, or if the Palestinians do not live up to their commitments under this peace agreement, they will forfeit any claim to the disputed lands permanently. Please sign on the dotted line.
18. Settlement freeze MUST NOT continue since this is one of the
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.14.10)
subjects to be discussed, and not even the first one because it is not at the heart of the conflict. Israel's security, by contrast is and it must be resolved before all else! P.S. To ask Jews, only because they are Jewish, to limit their living space on earth is a form of racism, anti-Jewish racism, and no matter where on earth such a demand is put forth, and no matter whether declared anti-Semites do so or American "liberals" and "progressives".
19. Time for PM to prove himself.....
DT ,   TA Israel   (09.14.10)
Aand say "No" to the US and PA or do what everyone thinks you will do ,including me, - do a "fudge " or give in totally (again) to the US .If so I hope you are "history "quicker than a lightning bolt along with your pretend right wing lot
20. Jews easy to herd into cattle cars
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.14.10)
There is no focus on removing Hamas the REAL THREAT to peace. only on Jewish homebuildrs because this is the final solution Road Map to hell. The Jews always do what they are told to do by their masters and the oberkapo Netanyahu will do as he is told. The useful idiots of Likud will do nothing because Netanyahu is their god.
21. Rachel #12 you are right and wrong
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.14.10)
We do need a new PM. It's not that Bibi is idiotic, the real problem is that Bibi thinks we are.
22. #5 You don't understand
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (09.14.10)
This has NOTHING to do with a Palestinian state which they could have had many times since 1948. The Palestinians ONLY goal is to destroy Israel and replace it with a Arab toilet. They have said as much publicly in recent days. I say "Keep building" and no more concessions of any type.
23. The only thing frozen, is Mitchells brain...
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (09.14.10)
What about Iran, to freeze its ILLEGAL NUCLEAR PROGRAM Mr. Hypocrite...??? Go and join Hillary...
24. Can't you feel a paper peace coming.
Yehoshua ,   USA   (09.14.10)
25. SPINELESS leader & LIAR must be replaced IMMEDIATELY
Shalom   (09.14.10)
If Prime Minister Bibi's word is not a word and he cannot be trusted, he must be replaced IMMEDIATELY. We need a leader with courage and not some pusillanimous wimp who kowtows to Hussein Obama. We need a leader who knows that Israel is NOT the 51st State of the U.S. but a sovereign country and will NOT be bossed around by other countries. It's about time the Israeli government tells the U.S. to "MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS - we don't tell you what to do, so you don't tell us what to do."
26. Brains or Brawn?
David ,   USA, exile   (09.14.10)
To all of the talkbackers who accuse Netanyahu of being weak, such as Marcel who knows nothing about the issue at all, Netanyahu could be blusterous and stupid and play cowboy like "W." Or, he can use his brains. Once past the US Election that is assured to make Obama a lame duck or worse then he will no longer be in a position to throw his weight around. Just play the game Bibi, until January and you are home free. Don't give anything away. Just talk. Once he has a right wing congress in the US, he will have strength behind him. For now, it is the entire world he is up against.
27. Abbas a fool for not demanding "Arab vote"
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.14.10)
...because dividing the land will make allow Israel to dominate forever.
28. 2 STATES FOR 2 PEOPLES!?! MORE LIKE 1 FOR ARABS & 1/2 FOR JW
Farouk   (09.14.10)
it is NOT 2 states for 2 people it is one where jews will not be allowed to reside at all and another where the arabs will (it wont happen though) be given the right of ''return'' (even though by all law standards in existence the do not have this 'right') and overwhelm the Jewish population. Peace talks.. LOL
29. jews are becoming place mats
Robert ,   farmington,usa   (09.14.10)
the jews are becoming everybodies place mats , since when has america or the united nations taken israel side or late , anything israel does is going to be wrong in there sight. there is no deal that will benefit the jews , faster the jews learn this ,the happier they will be...
30. MITCHELL IS OBVIOUSLY PRO ARAB
stude ham   (09.14.10)
and therefore totally unqualified to mediate in any talks between israel and its enemies. the current spate of political cosmetics is doomed.
