2. Courts should accept this popular decision
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (09.14.10)
If democracy means anything, the Constitutional Council and the European Court should uphold the ban. Those who can't accept Western values and culture should find another place to call home.

Boxes The Kooky Haradim Wear On Their Foreheads. Ban those stupid looking uncut locks that grow out of their silly heads. Make the Catholic priests wear normal Western street clothes and ties instead of cassacks. Why not go after the SIkhs with the turbans and the Buddhist for the ghastly colored robes? Let's burn their New Testaments, Torahs, Talmudic texts and Bhagavad-Gitas too! I mean if you're going to pick on one religion why not pick on them all?
8. Good for the Frence!!
eliezer ,   jerusalem   (09.15.10)
It is only the French who can stand up to 'world opinion'! When the USA invaded Iraq for NO good reason, France correctly did not support them. Good for them for being brave and standing up for their own values. Come on Israel learn a lesson from them on how to act!! Do not cower in the face of 'world opinion'!!
9. to #7 hahahaha you r funny
ghostq   (09.15.10)
you just proven that Muslims r hot headed and aiming to all other religions, but there is a good reason this law was legislated, hint, after Muslim riots in paris and Eifel tower bombing threat. this law is only resonable one, so you see there is a reason.
10. FULLface veil, thanks French Diplomamcy
observer   (09.15.10)
no-one of the 2000 niqab wearing has 100% cover. That means the French version in the UN resolution 242's "The occupied territories" will not work again. Niqab ban will NOT be implemented, as long as the French version of UNSC resolution 242 is NOT implemented in FULL.
11. At last! France has shown some balls!

12. then hypocrites!, why doesn't Israel adopt similar law?
observer   (09.15.10)
I'll tell you, Israel is too week to impose it on its "minorities".

14. #9 hahahahahah you have missed the point

first of all, i doubt that #7 is a muslim. second, the law bears no relation to the riots or the bomb threat third, it is not aimed solely at curbing islamic activity and its genesis can be traced to the law banning display of all religious symbols in public technically, this could include all of the equally ridiculous religious symbols from every other religion, including those mentioned by 7. hopefully this eventually happens. all religious observance kept in a person's private life and not in the public domain. every religious symbol, including crosses around the neck, sikh turbans, kippas... (or did i go a bridge too far with the last one? would france then be anti-semitic?) some day... some day...

Non arab women are forced to cover their heads in various arab countries. Also Sharia law is imposed on them should they cause an offence according to that law. They don't complain or try to overturn those laws. In short foreigners in arab lands do not have a say nor do they demand a say in anything. Isn't it funny that, whereas arabs are granted so many freedoms and leaways in the West, sometimes more than ordinary natives, they moan when a practice turning them into anonymous masked crowds is logically oulawed? If that practice is so important to arab women shouldn't they go to where that practice is allowed? For your information, apparently Jews are scared to walk around with anything that distinguishes them as Jews "in France" thanks to the threat of attacks from moslems! Instead of being grateful for being accomodated by the French and keeping their heads low they actually are taking control! What a cheek! Arabs are emboldened to demand far too much from their host countries. That will definitely lead to clashes with the natives and will NOT bode well to the arabs in the long run! One day even the "extreme liberals" will wake up and that day is very near.
16. To Observer Unimpressive as usual

In regard to your point about a UN resolution and French national law, I don't see any connection. A UN resolution is a resolution and French law is the law of France no where else. I don't get the point of your clap trap. In regard as to why Israel has not adopted a similar law. While you try to make it a point of 'weakness', it actually is just the simplest reason possible. It's simply not a problem here in Israel. The fact is that in all my years here in this country, I have yet to see a woman ever wear a burqa or niqab. The max I have ever seen is a hijab. The fact is that the Israeli Arab population doesn't wear it, or I just don't see them wearing it, even in Arab villages they don't. I've heard rumors that maybe in Umm El-Fahem, but that is it. Literally only rumors, and the one time a friend of mine told me she saw someone wearing it. It's just such a rare thing, that in all honesty there is no inherent value in legislating something like this.
17. Alas, you are right, #13

Nice bit of symbolism, but that is all it is. Watching clips of Muslims taking over entire streets & blocks of French cities to yodel to Allah while bringing traffic to a dead halt, and trapping residents inside their homes tell you clearly enough the fate of france and W. Europe. The feudal fox is in the hen house.
