As the Mid-East talks continue, screened by the Palestinian issue, all the present day territorial demands of the Arab & Islamic world towards Israel relate to territories that they have already possessed at one time or another since Israel's inception in 1948. The very adoption of the "Palestinian cause" has become the "fig leaf" for the Arab & Islamic war against Israel, which has arisen from their realization that you can further your agenda far more successfully through the political & humanitarian goals of self-determination, than with declarations of intended genocide. Before that they had a far more candid approach and openly demanded that the Jews be driven into the sea. From 1948 to 1967 Gaza & the West Bank were occupied by Egypt and Jordan respectively, yet during this 19 year Arab occupation there were no calls for a Palestinian state in these territories and none was formed. However while still occupying these lands the PLO was created in 1964, making it clear that, then as now, the only land designed for 'liberation' was Israel itself. Having created the Palestinian issue the Arab & Islamic world are now using the diplomatic, media and humanitarian arenas to portray Israel as the aggressor/occupier, duping the world into believing their distortions while concealing the true context of their ultimate goals. Something which groups like Hamas are quite brazen enough to share with the world in their charter.

But it isn't, Just because a majority of people think something, doesn't mean it is. After all here in the U.S. Blacks didn't have the right to vote, nor did women. But the majority isn't the law, it's mob rule. The fact is, other legal experts think the settlements to be completely legal. If you read the website I referred you to clearly it is settled law. So just because they say settlements are illegal does not mean they are. That was my point, and I stand by it. Article 49 of the Geneva convention does NOT apply, period. It doesn't matter how many people say it does. Unbelievably you say intent doesn't matter. Here in the U.S. it matters, and it matters a lot. When deciding a Constitutional issue at the Supreme court, it is exactly what they do. They look at what was written, and the intent, at the time it was written, then determine if you can apply that law to a current or modern situation. Of course you would apply that same logic when determining whether the Geneva convention article 49 applies to the issue of settlements. It does not. so CASE CLOSED. It is not a popularity contest, otherwise all you have is mob rule.

The world constantly ridicules Israel for the amount of US support it gets. The same entities ignore how the US, the West and Russia supplies the Arab and Islamic world with combined military hardware which dwarfs that provided to Israel, and they scream about how Israel possesses an alleged nuclear deterrent. Clearly they are concerned that it is becoming increasingly difficult to destroy Israel by conventional means, having already failed on a number of occasions.
